Da'Rel Scott Highlights 2010 (via r48sweep)
I have seen plenty of mock drafts here advocating that the Broncos will look to get a big bruising back in the 2nd round, I tend to think that Elway will look back to the days of TD and likely look for an impact RB in the later rounds. With that thought in mind, my choice would be Da'rel Scott out of Maryland.
Scott is not a sleeper pick in that he had a decent career at Maryland and an excellent Senior bowl. But he didn't have eye popping stats of many college RBs. Scott has terrific strait line speed, excellent hands, and brings an extra dimension with his pass catching ability down the field, he can do more than just catch screens. In alot of ways he reminds me of a shorter version of Steve Sewell or even a Kevin Faulk type of back. He is listed at 5' 11", 210 lbs with 4.40 sec 40 yard dash. He had 2,401 career yards at Maryland with his Junior season cut short due to an injury, which he was still coming back from his senior year, looking at his stats from last year was his perfromance in the bowl game against East Carolina where he went for 200 yards on 13 attemps with two TD, showing what he could do when fully healed. He followed that up with a solid perfromance in the Senior bowl. Scott is probably not an everydown back, but he has a nice ability to see the whole, make people miss in the open field, and not go down on initial contact in addition to his recieving ability. Scott will likely be avialble from round 5 on. Enjoy the highlites above.
