Mayock Predicts Miller
He says the depth at D Tackle will have us favor Miller over Dareus.

This is poor logic IMO
You can’t pick at #2 based on who you think is going to be available in the 2nd round because you don’t know

He would have been better served reading the post from Jeremy Bolander
He would have found out the Broncos picks did not line up very well for DT.
Victor Frankl:
What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
Just a point
I’ve outlined the reasons we might like to take Miller but there’s also a very strong reason for having teams believe that we want to.
There’s clearly a reason for still drafting Miller, since our league standing in pass rush is miserable, but the QBs are drawing as much attention right now and Miller is one of the coveted prizes near the top. We have a legitimate interest in Miller but — even better — we have a plausible reason that other teams must consider if they’re interested in Miller, too. Houston is.

However not as much sense as Dareus to the Broncos.

It does to me
I can’t think of any other way to add a starting linebacker and to shore up our pass rush without spending two picks to do so. And a DT can more easily be had in the 2nd round (versus a starting SAM).
Von. Doom. Pow!
Except that the traditional Fox 4-3 doesn't use LB's very much to rush the passer.
I understand his ability to rush the passer and that we could find a way to utilize him but we still are projecting his productivity on 1st and 2nd down. We don’t really have to project as much with Dareus as we know what he is capable of on all downs. If we are staying true to a traditional Fox 4-3 we should be looking to shore up our pass rush with front four players and not with LB’s. I’m not anti Von by any means. I’ll be happy if we take him. I just think he is more of a projections and if Dareus is still on the board he makes much more sense.

This will be embarrasing if we take him
He’s a project as a 4-3 LB,
If you reply to a comment/post/fanshot of mine, I will more likely then not respond to it, unless you come off like a d-bag.
Denver likes projects. Take Robert Ayers… If you get drunk enough, hold your breath for 5 minutes, put on orange colored glasses and spin around 50 times, Ayers kind of sort of looks like he might develop into a good NFL defender sometime in the next 5 years.
You just need to keep wishing upon a star.
Denver’s board should look like this.
Dareus
Peterson
Miller
We might as well have the 5th overall pick. Getting #2 overall is wasted on the dumb.
ConradA to me "You should actually watch a Broncos game from a critical point of view. Put away the orange and blue glasses for a game and watch." Maybe I'll try that sometime Conrad, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that just yet.
Put down what you are smoking
I think you lump in too much of your hate for McD into Ayers’ performance. He’s solid and I have seen nothing other than an injury that makes me think he won’t be a solid starter for the next few years.

I am happy with the pick. I felt it would come down to Dareus or Miller a long time ago. Just because Fox has not used a rushing LB before does not mean they can’t. Obviously they are since they took Miller.
Also, I stated a month ago that Miller could play OLB and be a pass rusher in a 4-3 defense like Derrick Thomas since I pointed out that the Chiefs used a 4-3 defense for Thomas’s last 6 years or so in the NFL and Thomas was an OLB in a 4-3.
So it can be done and I am actually excited the Broncos took Miller since that means they are not going to use a traditonal type of defense and be one that teams will have a hard time figuring out. Miller and Dumervil will provide much pass rush and DT ’s to be had in in the draft later and in free agency.
