Draft Eve Mock
Hey Guys. Haven't posted on here in a while. Huge fan of the draft and wanted to make a quick mock. I'm making this mock with a few assumptions....
1) Our QB spot is fine. I think that our passing game was the only reliable part of our team. I am part of the dying breed of Kyle Orton supporters. I think he is with Tony Romo, David Garrard, and Donovan McNabb as one of the most underappreciated QB's in the league. In all 5 years he's played in the league, his QB rating has gone up. This is while being moved around and playing in weak offenses. Last year he was the leading passer through week 12 I believe. Had it not been for the McD firing I don't think there would even be a discussion. I think he should start. Tebow obviously has potential, but I really believe he needs 1-2 years to be starter quality. His numbers were padded by coming in goal line situations and there were several times where we needed to pass but were forced to run because we didn't have confidence in Tebow. I want Tebow to be our franchise guy, but give him time. I don't want Denver to turn into that desperate fanbase who throw guys in before they're ready.
2) Our biggest weakness is the DT spot by far. We can't ignore it. As far as I'm concerned, our DTs are not starting calibar and are barely good enough to be backups.
3) We need to look at undervalued guys who have dropped due to injury and were previously rated much higher. We aren't going to the SB next year and we need to use this period to stockpile future talent.
4) I actually really like our WR group. Eddie Royal is very versatile, I have a lot of hope for Eric Decker to be a starter one day, if D Thomas comes back he'll play a huge part, and we have the #1 receiver in the league last year returning in Brandon Lloyd..
Round 1(pick 2) - Marcell Dareus DT ALA Our #1 priority is DT and at worst I believe he'll be a solid starter. We can't risk Von Miller not fitting in a 4-3 and Peterson would tie up too much money in our secondary. I like this guy, he'll solidify our run D and force people outside.

Round 2 (pick 36) - Marvin Austin DT UNC It sounds bad taking 2 DTs with our top 2 picks, but I feel its necessary here. This class has a ton of Dline talent early and I think we should use our extra pick to stockpile talent to take advantage of it. His stock has dropped and I think he would be a great value here.

Round 2 (pick 46) - Bruce Carter OLB UNC We really lack linebacker talent. I still really believe in DJ Williams, but we need another solid OLB. Before injury this guy was great and I think he can still produce.
Round 3 (pick 67) - Demarco Murray HB OU He is rated around here so if we can steal him here we need to. Moreno is not a bust, but he's definitely not an every down back. He has shown he lacks confidence when hitting the whole. I would love to have Murray to be a well rounded back. Most importantly, we REALLY need a respectable running back to take pressure off of Orton (or whoever) so he doesn't have to consistently throw into dime coverage.
Round 6 (pick 186) Jermale Hines SS OSU Our division has big receivers and this is a big safety at around 6-1 220. He has decent speed and we need to start thinking about safety for the future.
Round 6 (pick 189) Ricky Elmore DE AZ I'm really surprised this guy is rated so low. He is a bit undersized at 255 but he had 21.5 sacks in the last 2 years and we really need a good pass rush. I think this guy could work his way into the rotation in our weak line. AZs line torched Iowa last year and he was a reason why.
Round 7 (pick 247) Schuylar Oordt TE UNI I'm a little bias being from Iowa and I want this guy to be good but if he develops well he would be an incredible player. We need a TE but can't afford to pick one in the first 3 rounds. Hes huge at 6-6 260 (But still a bit lanky)and quick at 260 with 4.6 speed. Low risk high reward pick, what we need right now.

Starters
QB- Orton (Tebow situational)
RB- Moreno (Murray Situational)
WR- Lloyd, Thomas (Decker/Gaffney if hurt)
Slot- Royal
Line- Clady, Beadles, Walton, Kuper, Harris
TE- Quinn (Very up in the air)
DT- Dareus, Austin
DE- Dumervil, Ayers
LB- Williams, Carter, Haggan
SS- Hill (could very well become Bruton or McCarthy)
FS- Dawkins (Likely McBath)
CB- Bailey, Goodman ( Possibly Cox)
SUMMARY
In this draft we needed 4 starters and got them all (if you count Murray which I would). I really feel good about our WR and CB depth which is why I basically ignored those. If we do manage to pick up another mid-late round pick, i want to use it on Mark Herzlich. I really wanted to find a way to get him in my mock but I think we needed Murray in the 3rd. Without a strong front 7 we will be an absolute joke and that is our biggest glaring need. Had we had a good front 7 we would have been average last year. I have high hope in the safeties we drafted in 2-3 rounds(Mcbath/McCarthy/Bruton) the last few years so I didn't make that a huge need. The linemen and backers we have now are backups and while they are good rotational players, we can't build a team around them. If we went into the season with this lineup I would be fairly optomistic for an 8-8 season. Tell me what you guys think!

I'd be happy with this!
Two DTs and Elmore from U of A , I’d be very pleased! Of course, I’m an Arizona alumni so I might be biased.

I love the way Bruce Carter plays
I started graduate school at UNC 2 years ago. I came in knowing only the big names on defense: Austin, Sturdivant and Quinn. What I quickly realized was that Carter was the fan favorite and the leader on the field.
If it weren’t for his knee injury, he would be my #1 target if I were the Broncos. He is exactly what this team needs and, I believe, could finally fill the hole Al Wilson left.
The knee injury certainly lowers his value. It should. Nobody really knows how it will affect him. It could be a blessing in disguise because it gives the Broncos a chance to get another big talent (Fairley, Dareus, Peterson) and still land Carter.
I think he’s worth the risk at 46. If he falls to the third round, I’d trade up to get him if I had to. If he’s there at 67, I wouldn’t even wait for the clock to start. I’d have the card ready.
