If so, can we give Minnesota Orton for their 2nd rounder? Correct me if I'm wrong (which occasionally happens lol) but I heard that trades can occur as early as Monday. Any chance we have a behind the scenes discussion for Minnesota to pick up a player we want in order to obtain Orton? (NOTE - this is a complete hypothetical on my part, I have no idea if this is legal or would occur - but humor me)
Would LOVE to see Denver pick up Bowers, Rahim Moore, and Marvin Austin. Bowers knee worries me, but his talent level makes it worth the risk with our first 2nd rounder. I think if we go DE there we HAVE to pick up a DT next, but if we can swing a trade with Minnesota (which would give Ponder some time to learn) and pick up their 2nd, I can see us going after Rahim Moore before DT, as he's the best safety in the draft. Austin should be there for the #46 pick, and we could even pick up another DT in the 3rd for depth.
Denver would have their 4 starters with this scenario. Miller/Bowers/Moore/Austin - (I also like Paea but he's a bit undersized for DT, even as strong as he is.)
Defensive problems solved. Also, we could try and pick up some later picks in the draft to acquire a backup RB, OT, and TE.
Two elite pass rushers (Dumervil/Bowers) with another in the linebacking corps (Miller), and some young talent in the secondary who can learn from BDawk before he retires. Sounds like quite a start to me.....
