Ayers poised for a breakout season?
I know the apocalypse didn't happen but it sure seems like the end times with Bill Williamson saying nice things about the Broncos...
UPDATE: This article was written by Matt Williamson of Scouts, Inc. I found this on the AFC West Blog on ESPN.com and mistakenly attributed it to Bill Williamson. Thanks to those of you who pointed this out and apologies for the mistake.

I was about to post this
however, this is not Bill Williamson, but Scouts Inc. Matt Williamson, no relation.
He listed a lot of things I agree with on why he hasn’t produced yet and why he will soon. He also gave a shout out to Kuper, Royal, Cox, and Decker, saying he considered them for this article as well

Been saying this for a while
He is in the best position to take advantage of his best strengths now. He has a lot of potential here. Him and Cox/Squid are the guys Im interested to see. Cox and squid are both good in zone coverage so we’ll see how that plays out as well.
I also like how Williamson mentioned that Ayers could be a Tuck-like player
I’m not sure if many of you watch G-men games but Tuck is awesome. He’s a great everydown DE who holds up against the run well then kicks inside and rushes from a DT spot. , essentially allowing the Giants to have 3 excellent pass rushers onm the field at once. Fox said Ayers would be doing some of that while Miller and Doom rush from the edge, and I’m excited to see it

Tuck also had 13.5 sacks his senior year. Where can Ayers boast any such claim?
Physically I think Ayers has all tools to succeed but whether he does or not is another story yet to be written. I think Comparing him to Tuck just because they may have similar builds is nonsense. They obviously aren’t comparing their college production.

Yes, but thats how they are going to use Ayers...so I dont think its that much of a reach....Miller will go to DE on passing downs and Ayers will kick inside!
FIRE DE MAURICE SMITH...he can go suck dog balls for all I care!
NFLPA??? National Fools and Lame Pricks Association!
ANYONE ELSE INTERESTED IN SEEING WHAT WE HAVE IN TEBOW? Watching Kyle orton is like watching re-runs of the Brady Bunch...you always know whats going to happen and makes you feel sick at the end!

I would agree
Tuck has alot more talent coming out of college (IMO), hard to compare the two, Ayers is really a run stopping 4-3 DE where Tuck was a better all around DE.

Matt Williamson and i said "Tuck-like"
Not that he’ll be Tuck. The point was that like Tuck, Ayers will be a good end against the rush on running downs then kick in to DT on obvious passing downs to allow Miller and Doom to rush off the edge, like Tuck does so Osi/Kiwanuka/JPP do for the Giants. Seriously relax I’m a ND fan I know how good Tuck was in college and living in NJ I see how good he is not, and don’t see Ayers being that good
So relax, nowhere did I compare production or “body types” between the two, since Tuck has 20 lbs on him anyway. Just style of play, where comparisons such as this are 100% valid

Yeah I saw that and I wasn't getting worked up. I actually posted that before reading the article. It was a knee jerk reaction.

lol no worries
I may have overreacted but I’ve been blasted for these kind of comparisons before on MHR and MTD

Hmmm.... Where to begin...
Both Dumervil (knee) and Ayers (foot) missed time with injuries last season.
That’s like saying Jeffery Axlerod and Abraham Lincoln both gave speeches. Yes. But I think there’s a difference. A big difference.
I enjoy reading an article that makes our player look good. And I do think Robert Ayers is poised for a breakout season. It just sucks that the article was written by such a hack. My own opinion, of course. I’ve never felt like Williamson knows football.
At the end of the piece, he even voiced that Kuper was one of his alternates to have a breakout season. Kuper? Hasn’t he already broken out? Name three RGs that are better than he is. Name three that make more money.
Thanks for the puff piece on Mr. Ayers, Bill. Too bad someone more credible didn’t see it first.
Von. Doom. Pow!
I feel the same way...
Doom didn’t even hurt his knee and he missed the entire season… plus, Ayers is entering his third year, he hasn’t played in three. And like you said, Kuper already has broken out.
We can only hope
He was definitely a better 4-3 prospect coming out of Tennessee.
He seems to be a better fit for the 4-3, but we will see. He played very well last year before he had that foot injury.

If you can go back
and look at film on Ayers, when he had his hand on the ground rushing the passer, he was great at getting to the QB Just terrible at doing anything once there. That will come and I think he can be good if he can “finish” the play.
This is what they said about Moreno last year.
And wasn’t Moss the preseason monster going to finally contribute, too? We’ll see.
