Mile High Report Poll of the Week for July 10, 2011

DENVER - SEPTEMBER 26: Our weakest link? I don't think it was the cheerleaders. (Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

Last week was another great week, more progress towards a new CBA, some great articles on Mile High Report, and still more drama and fuzziness about what will happen in a number of key positions for the Broncos. But despite all this commotion, the Poll of the Week moves on. Last week was a bit of a shocker to me, I asked who fans would like as their head coach if they were to start up a team, the results were surprising.  So let's find out why:

Answer:VotesPercentage
Bill Belichick 70 28%
Tom Coughlin 4 2%
Mike McCarthy 15 6%
Sean Payton 48 19%
Andy Reid 8 3%
Rex Ryan 19 8%
Mike Tomlin 59 24%
Other 27 11%
Total: 250 100%

BB was the obvious winner here, as I expected that he would be, but how the rest of the rankings played out was rather shocking. Mike Tomlin came in 2nd, taking 24% of the votes, now I can kind of understand this, he has a ring. But seeing coaches who "just win" like Reid and Coughlin get burned so badly was the biggest shock, well maybe behind Rex Ryan doing so well. Shows that I know nothing about what some of you are thinking.

But let's get to this week's poll:

Star-divide

This week and the following three week's polls will be tied closely together. This week I want to see what you fans felt was the weakest squad on the team last season. Whether that be our young and talented, but oft injured offensive line, our aged defensive line, our underwhelming running backs or questionable coaching. You decide. Next week I will ask what squad was the strongest last season and the following two weeks I will ask the same two questions, but prediction the weak and strong squads for next season.

So let's get voting! And remember, there were a lot of bad squads last season, we are looking for the worst of the bad. So, for example, we know that both the offensive line and the defensive line both sucked, but which sucked more?

I would have voted for the defensive line

but since they werent near as bad the year before with different coaching, I picked coaching.

Opinions are like......, Well anyway, this is mine.

How many Defensive Coaches did we keep

from last years team? MIght have been the Defensive coaching staff.

by papasteven on Jul 10, 2011 2:42 PM MDT reply actions

It was close but I had to go with the O-line.

Our running backs spent the year just scrambling to make back to the line of scrimmage and what little running Orton can do was spent running for his life. It really for me was a three-way tie between coaching, O-line and D-line. Obviously that wasn’t a choice.

Dline was so bad

Oline was below average, but they did give some ok pass prot and ok run blocking…just not great. The linebackers didnt get much help from the dline. Coaching wasnt terrible(it was the off field decisions that were bad!) Dline put NO and by NO I mean NO pressure on the qb. We lost doom all season and that was a MUCH bigger blow than we thought.

I’m optimistic tho, if we dont get 30 sacks this coming season, then I will be upset.

by alkatraz76 on Jul 10, 2011 3:41 PM MDT reply actions

I chose Kyle Orton.

lmao, j/k.

Our linebackers were awful all year. Dline was bad too, but the tackling was just plain atrocious at the second level.

by Tim Lynch on Jul 10, 2011 3:51 PM MDT reply actions

I actually picked the defensive backs.

Cox, Dawkins, and Hill all struggled last year. Cox was a rookie and while he did improve from the start of the year to the end, he still was attacked on a regular basis. Dawkins had a very bad year. Hill had an average if not below average year.

DL and LB’s were pretty bad too

Coaching/playcalling by a nose...

Too many times last year I could basically predict what we were gonna call 50% of the time. If I’m predicting plays with Madden as my only playbook experience, coaching/playcalling is terrible. D as a whole was bad but they had their moments for a game or two.

by SoCalBroncsFan on Jul 10, 2011 5:53 PM MDT reply actions

Of course I voted coaching because it was the coaching. Our biggest weakness in 2010 was the god awful staff McD put together. A group of men that fractured within the coaching staff and lost their players.

I wasn’t impressed with the play of our LBs, but Wink was the least talented person in the organization last season. He beat our Prieffer by a nose.

Worst/least talented contributing 2010 Broncos (staff or player):
Wink
Prieffer
McBean
Nate Jones
Clancy Barone
Our TEs as a collective unit
Studsville as RB coach

The Lockout bores me.

If you are doing a best of the 2010 Broncos, you may want to put that cheerleader. She is a fox! Bradfather is going to have a meltdown. He loves his brunettes. & Don’t we all!

I stopped reading

after the picture of the cheerleader when I realized there were no more pictures of cheerleaders. However, now that we are near done with numbers of greatest players at each number, maybe someone can do greatest cheerleaders for the Broncos until the CBA is consummated.

Orton, Tebow, Quinn, may the best man win!

Like we need stats for this

All we need are pictures. Somebody ran a vote for your favorite cheerleaders segment for all teams a few months ago, but I can’t remember the site. It even had some background info on each and the number of years with the team.

Hey WB....I have always liked Foxy. This place has been craving stability and a good, solid coach...not a MAster Mind, or a QB genius...a good solid coach....thats what we got....

We need to be patient, and I will be. Fox knows how to build a staff, and has a good reputation amongst peers and players, and that is a reason i think we will do good in Free Agency….I would not be surprised to see us nab a couple of good DT’s and Deangelo Williams.

Difficult choice between DL and LB

I had to go with LB simply because they were doomed without Doom. I can’t count the number of short over the middle passes to TE and backs that were completely missed by the LB crew.

It appears EFX felt the same, and drafted accordingly. :P

Defensive coaching would be third on my list…..
