which I believe has already been answered.
Kyle Orton, according to Rotoworld is due to make in excess of 8.8M in 2011-2012. He is also in the final year of his contract. I have heard reports that the real number is 6M with the ability to reach the nearly 9M if certain incentives are achieved (please correct me if this is inaccurate). So let’s focus on the number 6.
I believe that the majority here at MHR are under the assumption that KO is on his way out of town via trade as soon as they are able when the new CBA is in place. We all have our different beliefs as to why, which are weighted by our own thoughts and emotions. Concerning one of our other QB’s on the roster, I will emphasize emotions.
In a perfect world, with all things equal, we as fans would hope for a “may the best man win” scenario when is concerns our beloved Broncos and their trio of QB’s currently on the roster. And with our veteran coach, who actually understands the locker room far better than his two predecessors (I’m not including Studesville) has masterfully used coach speak and has proclaimed an open competition at QB. Coach speak is a necessary evil in the world of head coaches, it must be used, not only to appease fans and the media but to not lose the locker room. When Shanahan handed the keys to the Ferrari to Brian Griese at the eleventh hour, he lost the locker room and in my estimation it cost the team a few games. John Fox will not make this mistake. Myself, I find amusement in attempting to read through the BS.
Now back to the Six Million Dollar Question. If Kyle Orton is not traded he will be our starting QB, you can bank on it. If this is the case, the Broncos will be surely competitive but in my trust, we would be taking a step backward as we are trying to move forward and rebuild. You see, all things are not equal, in the NFL you don’t have a six million dollar QB sitting on the bench watching as a second year QB develops his game. This is not fiscally responsible for a rebuilding team. If Orton is not traded, I suppose more coach speak could be used saying Tim Tebow needs another year on the bench holding a clipboard, again BS!
I have been very bold and assertive that the decision has already been made and Kyle Orton will be indeed traded. I have read through the BS err coach speak. His contract status gives me even more conviction he will be gone. John fox is using coach speak to keep his locker room right and together. He is simply going through the motions, following protocol and doing exactly what this broken team needs.
Hiring Fox was the best move for the interest of the Broncos; he is going to guide the ship in a respectful manor. He will keep egos in check and develop our young talent. The future looks bright and it starts by ridding the team Kyle Orton and his six million dollar salary and gaining draft picks and/or players.
