My take on the Orton situation.
I believe that this situation is a win win for the Broncos. They obviously believe that Tebow is the QB of the future and regardless how this situation resolves that should not change. This vote of confidence from the front office and coaching staff should boost his already high confidence. Orton is also showing confidence in not helping to facilitate a trade to Miami. He believes that he will not only win the starting job this year, but play well enough to earn a Kolb like contract next year. Two QBs with that sort of confidence breeds competition. Conpetition breeds excellence. I dont want Tebow to be given the starting job. I want him to win it. I want him to prove he deserves it.
In regards to the compensation issue; I have heard a lot of different things about what we are asking in return for Kyle. Rumors put it anywhere from a 2nd to a 5th. I am not sure how the compensation draft picks work but if he plays well and gets a big contract next year then we should get something in return. If he plays very well we could use our franchise tag and be able to deal him on our terms with solid compensation.
I truly have no dog in this fight. I am not especially a fan of eaither man. I want what is best for the Broncos and I believe that in eaither situation, Kyle gets traded or stays one more year, they stand to come out of it a better team.

I think this only helps Tebow
He stays an enigma while getting to learn an new play book. I think He would get a pass though if he sucked, because he is essentially a rookie. Orton is a vet, and must win now, it’s that simple. if he goes 2-0 to start the season EFX will be the smartest people in the world. if Orton then goes 2-4 everyone will be calling for the heads of all three. sometimes the Raiders are right (even a broken clock tells the right time twice a day.) In this situation we need one thing and one thing only. Just Win Baby.
Can you use the franchise tag on a player...
…and still trade him? If so, that changes a lot. Interesting thought either way. Unfortunately, I don’t think we can.

Yes, it happens fairly often.
When a player is franchised any other team can offer a contract to him. His current team can then match that offer or recieve 2 first round picks in compensation. Only rarely does the new team have to pay the 2 firsts. Most of the time the teams work out a deal. I can think of two recent examples. Matt Cassell was franchised by New England and then dealt to Kansas City for a second rounder. Jared Allen was franchised by Kansas City and then dealt to Minnesota. I dont remember the compensation there.
You are absolutely right, I remember the Cassell trade. That makes me feel better for sure.

Tebow is more exciting to watch...
Orton is rather predictable. Then again, I like excitement…either way, I just want football.

yeah
It is pretty sweet to have it back! Sure hope it’s Tebow!

I agree 100% that Tebow is more exciting.
The team seems to like him a lot too. Champ seems to be on his side. Orton is obviously a more polished passer. I am conflicted.
