I wanted more from the recent interview with Fox so I emailed Woody with a few of what I consider our biggest questions. The following is my email and his response... Woody, Congratulations on a great interview with Coach John Fox. I have some follow up questions that I was hoping you could answer after having spent so much time with him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And thank you in advance! 1.Coach Fox called RB the #1 priority in FA. Did he mean specifically on offense, or overall? Surely our empty cupboards at DT would be the more pressing need, no? 2. With relative newcomer Joe Mays and rookie Nate Irving set to fight it out for the starting MLB position, will DJ Williams continue to wear the 'green dot' and quarterback the defense from the WLB position? Also, did you get any inclination as to who the starting MIKE is likely to be - is Mays fast or fluid enough to have a legitimate shot in this system? 3. What's the feeling you get about our spending budget? Over the last two years we paid millions to bring in guys like Dawkins, Goodman, Hill, Davis, Buckhalter, and then last year's huge sums to Green, Bannan and Williams. It seems we have less holes now with the draft having already passed. So can we afford to, and is Coach Fox prepared to go after a top-tier DT like Melbane, Cofield or Cullen Jenkins? 4. If we only keep three TEs on the 53 man roster, is it more likely to be two "receiving" TEs (Thomas, Green), or two "blocking" TEs (Quinn, Gronkowski)? And is it realistic to think we would keep all four of them? Thanks again, Woody. Rodney A. I'll be writing three more columns from the interview with Fox in the next week. Your questions will be answered. Thank you.
