Various Rantings

The QB debate has come back full force, the lockout now has new momentum, and training camp may just be wishful thinking.  I haven't read up on the courts ruling and barely read the news report.  Suffice it to say I am depressed.   Jump on into my Saturday morning meanderings.

    QB:

I can't even read through all of the comments at this point.  Many of them are repeats of what we had last winter.  I have never been down on Tebow nor do I think Orton is the future.  I can't talk up the Orton haters and I can't talk down the Tebow lovers.  There really seem to be very few people in the middle but I am one of them.  I can see strengths and weaknesses in both players and at the end of the day I am an experience guy.  As for the strengths, I believe the stronger passing game of Orton is easier to build a run game around, while the run/mobility advantage Tebow brings leaves us one dimensional as a run team with a pass attack.  I don't want to say Tebow can't run an effective passing attack because I don't know.  Which brings me to my third and final factor, unknowns.  We have so many things to change and work on, I would choose one less.  Orton is a known.  Simple right?

Orton likely will be traded.  There are many valid reasons for this and I believe it will happen.  I am surprised by how many fans don't value him highly but we will see what the FO is able to work out.  I would be happy with several of the scenarios I have read here.  I agree that the Eagles and Bengals and even the Bears had controversy with their QB's but that happens when the coaches and FO listen to the fans kneejerk reaction to losses.  Still, we have a promising second year player in Tebow and a veteran starter in Quinn, and VALUE in Orton.  That is a good problem and I hope our FO deals with it well.

After a promising couple of weeks the lockout news nosedived yesterday.  The 8th Circuit Court stayed true to our countries pro billionaire government and is allowing the owners to squeeze the players.  I am now officially doubtful of a season happening this year.  The only way I could go further with this discussion becomes too political for a football blog.  So, I will not bore you all or start anything other than maybe a weeping circle  :(

I am glad to see a lot of people back and posting.  I know things have been getting exciting but I would just like to bring up civility here and maybe even some openmindedness toward others opinions.   Everyone seems so determined to beat thier beliefs into each other.  So, you know......  Smile when you say that   ;P  Thanks for reading my thoughts and hopefully I am wrong about the season.
