I had a chance to catch the Packer vs Browns game last nite and I hate to say it but it is ridiculous how far ahead Colt McCoy is as QB then Tim Tebow. I watched a QB that had a full grasp of the offense and dropped back went through his reads, set his feet and fired. And he was doing this against GB's 1st unit. I went back and watched the Tebow highlights and the disturbing thing for me is that Tebow is struggling with the basics. His footwork is horrendous. He rarely gets passed his first read and when his first read isnt open he looks to run. You dont win in the NFL like that.
One of the recurring themes here on Mile High Report is that Tebow is really no diiferent then any other 2nd year QB. Well after watching McCoy and Bradford this weekend I'm hear to tell you that thats bull. I watched two 2nd year QB's, stand tall in the pocket and work through there progression and deliver the football... thats how you win in the NFL. The NFL is a passing league and a QB league and if Tebow doesnt develop that skill set he is destined to always be the gimmick wild cat QB warming the bench behind a Kyle Orton. Running around improvising maybe fun to watch for some Tebow fans but successful NFL offenses run with timing and precision.
