Denver Broncos Release RB LenDale White
The #Broncos have released running back LenDale White. http://t.co/9dPsfrC
The Denver native and South High School graduate was not on the field as practice began at Dove Valley this morning. Apparently, RB LenDale White's short time in Denver appears to be over. A holdover acquisition from the Josh McDaniels regime, he was a long-shot to make the roster this year after the Willis McGahee signing. After leading the league in touchdowns in 2008, it's unclear where White will end up next. Having run into trouble in Tennessee and in Seattle, White has something of a reputation and so his options could be limited.

Never heard him called a "long shot" until now - in hindsight
I thought I was in the minority when I commented on Max’s post on our RB roster that, “I’m going to say White and Larsen probably get the ax at some point. McGahee is a more effective version of LenDale White – same size, style and lack of speed – without the issues.”
But even I didn’t consider him a long shot. I just thought it was more likely than not that we didn’t need him.
OK, so Brian and The Johns really did very well at the Defensive Tackle position, especially considering the limited cash budget they likely had to work with. I no longer hear laughter from opposing RBs in my nightmares!!!
Agreed
On yesterday’s topic, sounds like McBath is out there mixing it up with the one’s and the two’s today – even taking over for Dawk at SS. Lots of movement at safety today. I get the feeling they’re throwing guys around in different places preempting a big decision on one of them.

Johnson likely made this happen
More than McGahee.

Lance Ball
has been on the team a couple of years and what has he done to make things better?

how is Ball's blocking?
If he’s decent in that area (at least compared to LW or a rookie), that could be why he remains….
Very good point indeed
and often overlooked. if the 3rd/4th stringers ar to survive TC and their running / receiving abiity and styles are virtually the same then blocking will be the deciding factor.

Not surprised
I was never really big on LenDale, so I didn’t think he’d last this year. McGahee / Moreno have looked too good, and JJ is coming on strong. There’s not much demand for keeping veteran RBs as your fourth string options…
I agree
And I’ve said the same. Just saying that saying he was a “long shot” is a stretch. I said he’d be cut. But I’d love find anyone that can show where they called White a “long shot” within the last couple months.
It just seems like one of those typical reactions to me. A guy gets hurt… Oh well, we didn’t need him – he was old and injury prone anyway. Even though we did need him and he wasn’t old or injury prone. A guy gets cut… Oh yeah, we knew he’d never make the team. He was a long shot. Even though he wasn’t.

Agreed as well
I haven’t like him since the day we got him, and am glad he’s cut. Now JJ – I hope he makes it and I think he brings a burst that’s badly needed out of the backfield. I’m not sure how his blocking and catching are, but like his running.

I was very excited about him last year..
..at this time. I also didn’t believe we may not need a RB in FA because White was coming back. Boy was I wrong. I guess it is harder coming back from the Achilles than I realized.
"Pain don't hurt" - Swayze (Road House) -- We miss you man!
Suprised we did not keep him
You always need depth at RB.
I am assuming he had a lingering injury issue, or an attitude problem still.
There are those who are injured frequently
Then there are those with reputations of not working hard who are injured frequently. Seattle cut him after only 1 minicamp – and that was supposed to be the “dream match” with his old college coach. It’s not like Carrol just didn’t like the guy – he obviously saw major issues to cut one of “his guys” that fast. The injury just further set him back.
I’m not from around Denver, so I don’t know anything about his high school days – is some of the excitement about his play a holdover from that?
I never saw a quote or topic about him that wasn’t negative in some way – apart from his TD crazy year in 2008. He complained about not getting enough carries, he was out of shape at the NFL combine, he was cut from the Seahawks immediately, and he was injured before playing a game here and couldn’t even practice regularly this year even though he considered himself “back” from that injury. It wasn’t a speed issue alone – or an injury issue alone – or an attitude issue alone. I bet it had elements of all of the above – I’m sure not upset to see him go. I was wondering what the Broncos saw in him to pick him up last year, given the other 2 teams that dumped him earlier that year.
dang.
Was hoping he would make the team over ball..

Johnson made this happen
He looked very good in the 1st preseason game (like you should against scrubs) and likely is pushing for the 3rd RB spot. White was likely dropping on the depth chart and as a vet if he is unlikely to make it you should cut him and give him a chance to catch on somewhere else.

White was a waste of Time
money and space. He was not worthy of being called a Denver Broncos running back so let the purging continue!
Ouch.
Pretty harsh words for a guy that came in here and looked solid in preseason last year. You know he quit drinking when he got to Denver right? I follow him on Twitter and he’s extremely positive and viewed Denver as a second chance.
He was a troubled young man that tried to make things right. I think he deserves slightly more than what you’re giving him.

Truth.
But it is almost impossible for a running back to come back from an achilles tear. I am sorry that it didn’t work out for him, I really think that he tried hard to mend his life.

Not only that, but he suffered a vicious injury last pre season and worked his ass off to come back from that injury. He worked all year long and was an active part of the Bronco workouts during the lockout.
The guy wanted to be a Bronco. I just wish he could have been.

This guy looked washed up to me vs the Cowboys. No burst, took a holding penalty in the 2nd quarter.
He is coming off a major injury. I think his NFL career is probably over.
Kyle Orton + red zone = FG
The holding penalty cost Tebow a TD too...It was an unnecessary hold, Tebow was already way past the defender.
Not that it really matters, but his holding penalty was not the one that kept Tebow from scoring. That honor belongs to Chris Clark who also should be let go very soon.

Honestly, my expectations for this season are fairly low. Largely because of the hole he has put our franchise in. So, to be perfectly honest, I’m still pretty pissed off at the guy.
I have faith that Elway and Fox can turn things around. But it is going to take some time.

now if every Bronco Fan could not only realize how devastating the Josh McDaniels era was for the Organization, the team, it’s players and fans but admit how devastating the Josh McDaniels era was for the Organization, the team, it’s players and fans then maybe it would make moving on a little just a little bit easier for all of us.
And you are right, it is uncharted territory not only for the Broncos Organization, the team, it’s players and fans but I can’t remember an Owner and new HC/GM making a bigger mess of a great Organization, it’s team, it’s players and fans in the history of the league.

Maybe they need to keep a certain number of CBs for practicing with the large # of WRs in camp.
And there’s just no one currently available teh Broncos think would be worth paying monety to in order to take Nate Jone’s place.

same here but he didn't look very good vs the cowboys
As much as I like good stories, I like performance better, if mgmt thinks he wasn’t cutting it or that he wouldn’t make the team but has a shot at a different team then I am glad he got cut now instead of later.
Man, that stinks . . .

It is unfortunate that he had such a severe injury…from what I saw he doesn’t look like he has recovered his burst yet and I for one hope he does. I really liked what I saw from him last year in preseason. Keep your chin up sir. I am proud you were on our team for the short time you were. I’m also proud of you working so hard to make a positive turn around in your life. Don’t get too discouraged by this. Build on what you have done so far and you will be in fantastic shape for the rest of your life.

not really...
…most of the polls put us bottom of the pack in 2009, and we were better than expected (mid pack at 8-8)
Last year most polls had us mid-pack again, and we totally collapsed.
In 2005 we exceeded every polls expectation (13-3 with a AFCC game appearance).
In 2006-2008, the polls haven’t necessarily been right or wrong… with the exception of last year, most polls had us mid-pack… along with every other team. We’ve been mid-pack… like most teams. Most folks had us decent, but worse than the Bolts… which is how it playd out, but it was hardly a crazy or extreme prediction. It was basically a coin-flip prediction.
And their reason is the Oline isn't any good?
It is true the backups were in with Tebow, right? Then that is a really dumb point to put there – sounds like they only watched the highlights, which had Tebow scrambling a lot.
