Report: Broncos Assigned DT DeMario Pressley
According to a tweetdeck report from denverbroncos.com, the Broncos have been assigned defensive tackle DeMario Pressley from the Indianapolis Colts. Pressely is a 6-3, 301lb defensive tackle who was drafted in 2009 by the New Orleans Saints in the 5th round. He appeared in seven games for the Saints and accrued fifteen tackles.

Thanks for that.
I like his hand placement and first step. He also looks pretty athletic for a guy his size. Perhaps we might see him this Saturday.

I'm not too excited about this guy if that was a highlight reel
What I did notice tho is that while he doesn’t get any real penetration unless the offensive linemen literally quits working on him, he does clog a hole pretty well.
who wears short shorts?
I agree with you Broncs55, but...
he could be great for the run defense.
Keep him off the field on obvious passing downs and on the field on obvious running downs. He’ll be just fine if we use him that way.

don't know anything about him
but as we predicted, the waiver wire is going to be an important part of our offseason strategy this year.

picked him up off waivers
first Carolina got their chance at him, then us, then it would have been the bills, so on and so forth until Green Bay at #32 had their chance.
Unfortunately with the loss of Warren and Thomas, we’re banged up but not beaten on the DL. Thomas should be back hopefully by the first game of the season, if not by game 2.
Warren is out this year most likely. We need depth. There isn’t anyone we can really get at this point unless we trade, but we shall see when they go down to 53 man rosters, we may get lucky :)
who wears short shorts?
Cripes
If I read this right, that we used our position as the #2 team to claim this guy, instead of wating for him to clear waivers and then sign him as a free agent, it means we are now #32 on the list the next time someone gets released. If this is true, I sure hope EFX know what they are doing.

NOT TRUE
Because the Broncos had the second-worst record in the league last year, only Carolina, which had the worst, has priority over Denver in waiver claims through the third week of the regular season.

waiver rules
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waivers_%28American_football%29
Waivers is a National Football League labor management procedure by which a team makes an American football player contract or NFL rights (such as NFL draft rights to an unsigned player) available to all other teams. During the season (starting July 4 and lasting through the regular season), each team has 24 hours to file a claim for a player that another team has made available through the system or waive the right to do so. During the offseason each team has several days to file such claims. Claiming teams are assigned the rights to or contracts via a priority system based on inverse order of winning percentage. Players that pass through waivers unclaimed become free agents.12 Waiver claims are irrevocable.1 According to the collective bargaining agreement, if any waiver of a veteran player who has completed the season that gives him four years of service occurs between February 1 and the trading deadline in mid October, then that player shall be considered an unrestricted free agent by termination of his contract.12 NFL clubs are prohibited from contacting waived players until the player has been released by the club after passing waivers.2 At the conclusion of the season in which they were claimed via waivers, a player with a no-trade clause in his contract may declare himself a free agent. Any other player can declare himself a free agent at the conclusion of the season subsequent to the season in which they were claimed on waivers if they remain under a claimed contract.2 A player who has been cleared waivers and become a free agent shall be immediately free to negotiate and sign a player contract with any NFL Club, and any Club shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a player contract with such player. There will be no penalty or restriction, including, but not limited to, Draft Choice Compensation between Clubs or First Refusal Rights of any kind, or any signing period.2

Our D-line is a cause of concern.
Our D-Line will be hard pressed to stop the run. Even via FA or the waiver wire we will not pick up anybody that is good. San Diego and KC will run and run and run on us like there is no tomorrow. We should be able to stop (beat) Oakland because Campbell isn’t good, he has no receiver and their O-line is like our D-line-bad to average. IMO we will finish 3rd in the AFC West and have a sub 500 record again-picking in the top five again at the 2012 draft.

Colts or Patriot cast offs may have some potential , good teams have depth
every team has roster spot decisions to make
Colts yes. Patriots no.
They usually reach for players and count on superior coaching to play with sub-par talent. Plus they run a 3-4. I think that would be quite a stretch even for OUR defense. We’ve already pulled cast offs from some of the better 4-3 teams in the league defensively… so we’re doing a good job so far (Colts, Eagles). Washington’s defense wasn’t horrible when it was a 4-3.

an usual year
More than any other year, this year is unusual. Cuts are going to come very late (as late as Sept. 3 for the cut from 90), and there is already an excess out there because of 5th year players being FAs under the new CBA.
In essence, we have the #2 ‘draft’ pick of waived players. And there will be an enormous number of them to pick through when teams pare down their rosters from 90 to 53.

He probably won’t make an impact, but he was one of the top DT recruits in the nation when he went to NC State, and he’s still young. I watched some of his college highlights, and he definitely has talent. If he can give us even 10 good plays a game, that will be a huge help.

It's unlikely, IMO. Very unlikely.
ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss isn’t buying speculation that Albert Haynesworth or Chad Ochocinco could be released to send a message to the Patriots locker room.
Reiss points out the obvious, that the National Football Post was simply passing along one person’s speculation rather than a report. Ochocinco has already received a $4.5 million signing bonus in New England, and coach Bill Belichick has been pleased with Haynesworth’s approach “by all accounts.” This is a non-story.

Yeah, i read the same article and also one similar on yahoo sports
The reason to believe the speculation was that the Pats risked very little to get Haynesworth and that they would not take a big hit if they did cut him. But I agree, it is not very likely. He didn’t play in the first preseason game, i wouldn’t mind if he did get cut though.
Anyone know the status of Clady's knee after practice today?

I saw him at practice.
Him and Franklin just collided pushing Doom/Von around the backside of the QB. He seemed to be alright, they’re just being cautious. Brandon Lloyd limped off the field pretty good, but jogged back out before the end of practice – even though he didn’t participate again. They’re just being super safe it looks like, goes those guys seemed pretty normal a few minutes after they went down. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Lindsay Jones just tweeted that is was purely precautionary to pull him from practice. Same with Lloyd and Dawk. Although you have to worry about those three once the bullets start flying.

Yeah, crisis averted. But the fact that it was the same knee he injured previously is not a good sign. Lloyd also has that recurring knee issue. I’m less worried about Dawk; I feel like the can fill that void. Clady and Lloyd are a different story. Here’s hoping they’re back at practice tomorrow and ready to play on Saturday.

I watch the first kyle orton drive
When we were in the red zone our new left tackle was exposed. First he completely missed the end who slanted inside and tackled our RB. The next play he almost got orton killed as his man forced Kyle to move out of the pocket. I hope this is not a sign of the future like McGeorge said about Franklin. If so we will see Tebow sooner than later due to Orton getting killed.
Also not sure I saw anyone mention that Marcel Darius first sack came against our favorite QB Cutler. He is now 1 up on Miller.

Fat Guy
only a true Broncos fan would say a fat guy in a picture looks pretty atheletic
Pro Football Focus graded this guy an overall -2.4 for his 2009 play.
98th rated DT out of 168 league wide.
They graded his play against the run as Ok, but pass rush very weak.
The fact he didn’t play a down in 2010 suggests a player going backwards.
I suspect Mitch Unrein can sleep easy regarding this signing at least.
What would Blackie Lawless do?
Thats what we need
run stuffers, we have pass rushers. But like some others pointed out, he wont be able to replace Warren
