Leave Tim Tebow alone. I don't hear him insulting YOUR footwork.

Lloyd simply needs to be extended sooner rather than later
That just seems like a no-brainer to me. Yeah we have great WR depth, but Lloyd has shown himself to be the kind of receiver that is special. Give him a 4-5 year deal and keep him in the orange and blue. (Man…I can’t believe I just wrote that given my opinion of him just 2 short years ago!…anyone have a nice plate of crow to serve up?)

I'm not so sure that is wise
I will admit I didn’t like the guy 2 years ago either. Last year I even voiced to cut him and keep Stokley. I like him now of course :) and am glad I was wrong. But I wonder (given his history) if he is the type of player that once he receives the big payday he stops working as hard and disappears. (Jamarcus Russell)
I hope that’s not the case and would love to see him hauling in catches as a bronco for the rest of his career but I’m still a bit skeptical.
I really don't think that would be the case
He’s pretty vocal and is honest and open from what I’ve seen here (I’m in CO so he’s on interviews and such often). I think he really gets and embraces the blessings he has and the talent he’s got. He doesn’t strike me in any way as a “me” guy in that way.

I hope not - I don't want to think any Broncos are that way.
I"m still just curious about why he wasn’t a star in SF, WAS or CHI. I just can’t grasp the reasoning behind it. Was it offensive scheme, QB, Coach problems etc? Or was it him?
I’m not a fan of any of those teams but I know from FF that there were high expectations at the first two locations. From last year and some shiny moments on the other teams he has shown he has the ability to be a star.
and yes I know FF isn't real football
and doesn’t always show the whole picture of how a player contributes or performs.
Here's what I can tell you based off what I've heard him say
1. He didn’t “get it”…the whole picture wasn’t clear to him about the mental aspects of the game, etc which he really got from his time here in Denver recently
2. The coaches he worked under didn’t see enough realized potential on the field from him to play him more or run their offenses through him more.
Here’s my personal thoughts: Something happened the last 2 years with him that he has gotten much better at actually catching the ball and doing it on the field. Lloyd is a guy I actually paid attention to for some reason before he was a Bronco. He used to have a big problem with drops in live games…always looked fantastic in pre-season, but not in a real game. Something in the past 2 years got through to him from the coaching he got. Part of it I think is a confidence thing…part of it some lessons that have just worked. I’m thankful for whatever it is though…its a really good success story and I’m happy to be wrong for once in my life. :)

I developed a theory a year or so ago
that Lloyd thought he had so much talent (in his early years) that he didn’t need to risk himself on the tough catches. When he got to Denver, he realized it was make or break time, and he came to earth a bit. Having Orton here (with whom he had worked in Chicago) helped a lot.
Personal relations consist of an uneasy truce between powerful, solitary fantasy systems.
Janet Malcolm
Both of those make sense
I hope you are right, cause I do like watching him catch the ball. He has real talent and I am all for good redemption stories.
Thanks for your thoughts.
I'm in agreement with you sir

Good stuff
I think that’s a big part of it, yeah.
I would be surprised if Rod Smith might have shared some wisdom with him as well ....
since he is often seen checking things out at camp and practice.
I thought this statement was kind of funny:
If the Denver Broncos don’t lock him up soon, they may have to outbid more than just the 31 other NFL teams who might want to make a run at the league’s leading receiver from 2010.
Who, other than the rest of the NFL, would Denver have to outbid? Does that USA Today writer think Lloyd will go play in Canada, or Europe instead of the NFL?
Music & business endeavors
would be the competition, or so the angle of the article leads one to believe
Release the Tebow!
Ya, I got that,
but I have my doubts Loyd will leave football if he has another great year this year. I don’t recall many people leaving the NFL when they’re at the top of their game. Usually they stick around too long.
Thanks Tim
That USA Today article on Lloyd is pretty awesome.
I can’t believe We’re almost to regular season football!! I really can’t believe they’re airing the Broncos Vs. Cardinals preseason game, live on network TV in Wichita!! It’s all coming together, man.

One question i have is
Whether or not Lloyd is waiting to see what happens with Orton. If Orton doesn’t get resigned by Denver is Brandon going to hit the high road and look to sign where Orton signs. If I were Denver id sign Orton and then get the negotiations going with Lloyd.
by broncs27 on Aug 30, 2011 2:43 PM MDT via mobile reply actions
If things go right this season we'll resign them both
If they go wrong, we might just let both go…
"Bombs dropping down overhead. Underground. It's instilled to want to live." -EV
Yep, I dont care if we lose them both....would like to keep lloyd but he has some age on him.

Is it Free Agency yet? Wake me up when it starts!
It seems like a waiting game with Lloyd.
They Demaryius Thomas waiting in the wings to showcase his talents, which can be off the charts with a healthy body and solid offense. And, the have Eddie Royal and Eric Decker who are playmakers in their own right. I would have no problem not having Brandon Lloyd next year although I would love to have him, so it doesn’t really matter to me. What does matter to mme is when teams hand out these 100 mil contracts like it’s nothing, that bothers me, and if Denver do that with Lloyd then I would be concerned with the direction this organization is going. I’m not a fan of astronomical contracts.
Well you better get used to them...
With clubs having to pay 99% of the salarie cap this year and I think 98% of the cap next year, the money has got to go somewhere. If the player is elite then why not? Anespecially if they hall us win. The last thing we need is to be like Bill Bidwell annoy spend any money what so ever and have a team fall apart right in front of you because they didn’t want to spend money on talent ala carolina the last few years.
by broncs27 on Aug 30, 2011 3:43 PM MDT via mobile up reply actions
That is not how that works
Those figures are CASH expenditures and it is league wide. There is no mandate on individual teams until 2013. To give you an idea… all those shiny new contracts that the Eagles just inked… all those bonuses… count 100% against the CASH figure (as does every bonus for every team paid this year). Those values are amortized over the whole contract to fit into the CAP (or there would have been no way they could have signed those deals). This is just one example of a team that will be WAY WAY over the cap figure in CASH this year. Because of this, the NFL will have no trouble reaching the 99% figure (and will probably go quite a bit over).
NFL.com would be more believable if they would just do some 'real' research instead of using the previous season as a springboard to predict...
Yeah...which is why I included it...if only to point out their general ignorance

The Miami Dolphins oraganization is becoming a laughable one with the tribute to Tim Tebow when we face them...
Unbelievable how a team could stoop to such crap and that is nothing against Tebow, they will ultimately lose fan support over this…
I don't think Orton and his man friend Lloyd will be back in 2012.
but if someone else signs them we get compensation picks right?
It wasn't him Charlie, it was you. Remember that night in the Garden you came down to my dressing room and said, "Kid, this ain't your night. We're going for the price on Wilson." Ya remember that? 'This ain't your night.' My night I could of taken Wilson apart. ~ Brando aka Terry Malloy
As free agents the Broncos have no hold on them. scooter, I'm not sure how that works and you may be right.
I look for the Broncos to try and secure Lloyd before seasons end. I have no idea of what they will or not do with Orton. Would they place the franchise tag on him? Knowing if he isn’t wanted anywhere else that they will have a huge bill? IDK.
Wesley Woodyard states that he was never a 3/4 player and now feels at home in the 4/3...
The biggest surprise at camp this year is Julius Thomas. You might say Von Miller, but Von shouldn’t have been a ‘surprise’ in terms of progress, that where JT outshines the rest even Rahim Moore. This draft may produce 6-7 bonifide starters at the end of the day making it one of the best in Broncos history! Amazing the work that EFX and others out in and a glimpse of things to come…Way to go.
Perrish Cox struggled early in TC to transition to the slot corner and it lead to a demotion on the hypothetical depth chart. He has regained some respect back at his original RCorner spot and is now firmly entrenched at the #2 spot. Cox feels the front office has his back with his pending court case and have told him to focus on what he needs to get done through the courts and on the field. More to come on that senario.
MLB rookie Nate Irving feels he has the playbook and now has to show whay he should be an NFL MIKE starter. it will take as Nate realizes and as I thought when we drafted him. Remember folks, MLB is one the most important positions on the field…That is all…
Maden 2012!
Just played my first game of Madden 2012! I started Tebow and he had a 77 yard pass against the Raiders to D. Thomas..LOL Parrish Cox was the MVP due to an interception he took back to the house! The defense had Nate Irving in the middle and they had 6 sacks! Moreno ran for 148 yards and 2 TD’s. Final score 28-3! LOL
How's this one?
I’ve started Orton and he has thrown 4 TD and 4 INT during the first three games. 3 of those 4 picks were taken to the house.
FWIW, my defense has allowed only one touchdown in those three games.

Nice!
Yeah I’m 4-0 already with Tebow after just pounding the rock…I only throw when it feels like the opposing D is good and ready for play action. I’m going John Fox old school…LOL
Moreno got on a hot streak in the preseason and took it through the first three games. IN his last hot streak game he had 256 yards and a pair of TDs. McGahee come sin to rest him up and actually broke two tackles from the 10 and scored. Beat the Raiders 28-3, beat the Bengals 45-7, beat the Titans 42-10, and then had Green Bay…but they had Aaron Rodgers out with a broken foot for seven weeks so Flynn came in (plus no Aj. Hawk) but still it was a much closer game…it was 7-3 Broncos going into the 4th quarter, and then Moreno broke a long run for a TD, final score 14-3 in a nail-biter! Love the new madden, but throwing the ball is scary!
Dang. What difficulty do you play with?

How can Weber not get some snaps Thursday night?
You never know: Orton could go down; Quinn could suck you-know-what; Tebow then comes in and promptly separates a shoulder trying for a first down. Who’s left? A promising kid on practice squad with no significant snaps under his belt? Better give him some playing time, I say. Plus, I’d like to see him in a game situation. Maybe he IS a better QB than TT?

History is a collection of lies, agreed upon -- Napoleon Bonaparte
How's this response, Schwerepunkt
Its a gamble either way, but the percentages are in favor of not exposing Weber and slipping him onto the practice squad as opposed to needing him as the 4th QB because everyone ahead of him went down. Please avoid personal attacks on your fellow commenters per MHR rules. Thanks.

I have more money on Orton going down then Tebow...Quinn IMO would be least likely to get hurt!

Lloyd is not worth the money.....
I like the guy, but WR is one of the most over valued positions because every good thing they do fits nicely into a stat they can waive around. If DT can get healthy and I admit that is an “if” we have a great WR core even without Lloyd. If we did not have a good WR core then you hand out the 100 million contract to Lloyd. There is only so much money to be handed out, and the broncos need playmakers at other positions.
People claim with the recent WR signings that the “bar” has been set for WR contracts. BS on that, if other teams want to overpay, let them. If Lloyd can be had for reasonable #1 money, jump on it. But dont go paying him Fitzgerald money.
