Wow

Our o line depth sucks. Lets all pray for no injuries to that unit first and foremost!

When Tim Tebow pissses into the wind, the wind changes direction.

Really? Has he been playing well at camp?

Its tough to see how he can survive with all that new injection of safety talent. And although I am in the minority “Cut Dawkins” camp – its clear the FO want to keep him for one more year.

Can’t see any room for Kyle, which is a shame.

What would Blackie Lawless do?

You didn't list any WRs

I'd pick...

jeremiah johnson over mario fannin.

One of the Free Agent TE’s over Virgil Green, and maybe the other for our fullback position.

I like that you only have 9 OL (outside Paxton)

I think you mean Nate Irving instead of Washington.

I like that Nate Jones isn’t there.

I think it’s really ballsy to field a team with no WR’s. ;-)

Veikune and Jarmon aren’t there…

by tunesmith on Aug 4, 2011 11:34 PM MDT reply actions

i've seen a lot of people mentioning

chris clark as backup OT (Klis even suggested he had a chance to beat out Deebo) so I’d put him in herb taylor’s spot. obviously there are others that i think will make the team but the game day roster is harder to predict when its hard enought to predict who makes the team first.

How does anyone stay warm without a neckbeard?

by neckbeard's nephew on Aug 4, 2011 11:50 PM MDT reply actions

I believe Clark blocked for Tebow's first TD run

it was his first play too… That might be a good confidence boost for him.

Gronkowski over Quinn or Green, whomever is lower on depth chart.

Also, drop one FS and add another OL or, better yet, Haggan as he can play LB and DE.

Fells didn’t make the team? Or Rosario?

"Well at least we picked a good year to suck" said Pat Bowlen after countersigning Von Miller's rookie contract.

by McGeorge on Aug 5, 2011 7:26 AM MDT up reply actions

In Rosario's case, I don't think so.

For gameday, I was looking for balance at TE. We already have two younger receiving TE’s and I think we’d want a blocking TE (Quinn) and a TE that is ok at both blocking and recieving (Gronk) if we’re gonna carry 4 of them active. From what I know of Rosario (which is admittedly not much) he’s mainly a receiver. As little as I know about Rosario, I know less about Fells, so I didn’t think he was worth adding to the active roster.

by SoCalBroncsFan on Aug 5, 2011 2:03 PM MDT up reply actions

You need to add Lloyd, Royal, Decker, Willis and maybe Dell or Goodwin for WRs.

I’d guess Rosario or Gronkowski over Green at TE.

Where do you cut 5 off the list to allow for the WRs? One OL, one CB, one DT, one FS and either Larsen or one of the RBs? Maybe go with only 2 QBs?

Tough calls. And who knows who else might become available over the waiver wire.

by bill2975 on Aug 4, 2011 11:59 PM MDT reply actions

Sorry – and this assumes DT goes on injured reserve for the year to let the injury heal.

by bill2975 on Aug 5, 2011 12:02 AM MDT up reply actions

Technically

He wouldn’t have to cut 5. This is the 46 man play day team. We wouldn’t have 3 QBs on the game day roster, we’d have 2 and an emergency (which doesn’t count against the 46… i could be wrong but I’m pretty sure it doesnt.) So that’s 1 spot for sure, Then we probably wouldnt run with 5 safeties, 8 Dlineman, and 6 linebackers. Thats 19 guys to play 7 positions. I’m sure depening on the opponent, we would trim those numbers and put some guys in street clothes, or whatever they wear. Also injuries will always have an effect.

by Triz06 on Aug 5, 2011 6:57 AM MDT up reply actions

We can always use Nate Washington at WR instead of MLB. That would give our team at least one WR.

"Well at least we picked a good year to suck" said Pat Bowlen after countersigning Von Miller's rookie contract.

by McGeorge on Aug 5, 2011 7:28 AM MDT up reply actions

At TE

the new guy from the Rams is sticking. I dont know who goes because of this but he will be part of our team. He can play fullback and TE and is highly regarded in that he showed up and was the starter.

by kimbertr on Aug 5, 2011 7:22 AM MDT reply actions

We have a Titan’s WR as our backup ILB.. Interesting choice. Very outside the box like our former coach Josh McDaniels?

He's versatile, I'll give him that.

And he loves the game. And he’s a high character guy: Probably won’t have sex with girls after they’ve passed out from the mickey he’s slipped them.

Truth shall be known.

by Agent Jerry Fletcher on Aug 5, 2011 8:39 AM MDT reply actions

Tough calls - but here is the game day list right now IMO

I see Fells or Sylvester sticking as the FB and Larsen focusing on LB with the ability to step in a FB in a pinch. I think Mohamed will end up on the PS with Irving and Woodyard as the back-up LBs. Beal probably ends ups on the PS and Haggan gets cut unless he is kept around for his ability to play LB and DE (although we have many LB/DE guys on the roster now). Haggan would provide another really big LB who could be used in goal line situations where his added might might be an advantage over Von’s quickness, but I don’t know if that is enough to keep him around.

For TEs – we might try and PS Virgil Green and go with Thomas/Quinn/Rosario. Gronk is gone IMO.

qb – 2 (Orton and Quinn/Tebow)
OL – 9 (Clady, Beadles, Walton, Kuper, Franklin, Olsen, Clark?, Hoch?, Paxton)
WR – 5 (Lloyd, Royal, Decker, Anderson, Willis)
TE – 3 (Thomas/Quinn/Rosario)
RB – 3 (Moreno, McGahee, Fannin)
FB – 1.5 (Fells, Larsen)
DT – 4 (Bunkley, Vickerson, Thomas, Warren)
DE – 3 (Doom, Ayers, Harvey)
LB – 5.5 (Williams, Miller, Mays, Irving, Woodyard, Larsen)
CB – 4 (Champ, Goodie, Squid, Cox/Vaughn)
S – 4 (Dawk, Moore, Carter, Bruton/McBath)
K – 1 Prater
P – 1 Colquitt

7 gameday inactive guys
3rd QB – Tebow/Quinn
DE/LB – Hunter or Haggan,
RB – White
DT/DE – Jarmon
CB – Vaughn
S – Bruton or McBath
OL – ?

this is why Spencer Larsen is always on the active roster

because he plays both ways for you if you need him to.

I could also see us just keeping 4 WRs on the game day roster so that we could carry another defensive player.

Alternatively we could run with only two real backup O lineman and use the extra spot for another defensive player.

I don’t know what the normal game day roster split is – 22D, 22O, K, P - ?

above I’ve got 23.5 O, 20.5 D which might be too heavily weighted to the offensive side of the ball, particularly since most of your ST guys come from the LB/DB/TE/WR group

just saying

The Broncos are running a 4-3 defense this year, not the 3-4. I think that is why your numbers are skewed.

Quinn won't make this team (Brady or Richard)

I also think that LenDale probably won’t be on this team with McGhee, look for Sylvester to upset Larsen, Slyvester is a natural FB and more punishing blocker that Fox wants.

With the guys like Fells and Rosario, no way Richard Quinn will make this squad. Quinn is a complete bust.

Is the backup MLB supposed to be Nate Irving?

I am not conviced Jason Hunter makes the team either, my guess is that McBean is the backup DE/DT.
