Hey guys...long time reader, first time poster. First off, I want to say kudos for such a stand-up site. It really is a great forum for news and views.
A lot has already been said and discussed about the ongoing QB situation with the Broncos. I just thought I'd add my perspective on this matter, which might be a bit off the beaten path...
Let me just give you a quick background about me to better explain my views. I came to the US six years ago, having never really watched a single second of NFL before that. I studied at UF for a couple of years, right when Tebow joined the team (so now you have an idea which way this post goes :D). My love for football started initially through college football, and eventually on to the NFL.
Anyways, coming back to the present, eventually I graduated from UF, and moved on, but my love for the game only grew. Since I don't really have a hometown football team as such, the Broncos by extension became the team I root for since Tebow joined the Broncos. And I am only one of many others who have adopted the Broncos as their team for the same reason. Now, I know that might irk a few because we joined the party late, but once you start following the team, it sticks with you for good. I have been following the Broncos just as fervently since...drafts, training camps, etc...( I think Von Miller and Julius Thomas are going to be great). I might have joined for the wrong reasons, but I have grown to support the Broncos just as much.
My point is if a quarterback like Tebow can bring is that kind of following and support to a team, there has to be something there. I don't share his religious views, so that can't be the reason. Having seen him lead UF to some amazing years, I really do wish he atleast gets the chance to lead the Broncos to similar greatness. The three games I saw him start in were probably the three most exciting games I had seen last season.
Also, wanted to address the problem the MSM has with the pro-Tebow crowd. If as 23 year old quarterback can inspire that kind of following from people across all age groups, I really can't see the negative in that. If the fans feel that way, I can only imagine how a locker room full of athletes would back him up on the field.
There you go...just thought I'd throw in my two cents for what they're worth. On the bright side, I just glad the NFL is back! My Sundays have purpose again. GO BRONCOS!
