Denver Broncos Release First Official Depth Chart of 2011
The first couple weeks of camp are over and the first preseason game is this Thursday at Dallas against the Cowboys. With new coaching and management in the organization, there has been lots of turnover for the team. Some positions are cemented for players like Dumvervil and Bailey but other spots, there will be battles, like the receiver and linebacker position. Keep in mind that this is the first depth chart released and plenty of these players will not be with the team come start of the season. Several more charts will be released.
What we can take from this is who's stock is rising and who's is falling. I am wondering how much playing time the first team will get in the game against the Cowboys. Usually the starters only play a couple possessions but because of the lockout, I wonder if there will be a bit more playing time making it harder for the younger guys to make an impact. The rookies are the players most impacted by the lockout.

Not much for surprises. Interesting to see Rahim Moore is the starting Free Safety. Tim Tebow is the number two. Some people were worried he would go down to number three. Another battle was Moreno vs McGahee but it will be a tandem system anyways running the ball and is good to see that Knowshon is in much better shape then previous years. Another notable is Perrish Cox playing on the third team after being the third string guy last season.

Are you saying that Thomas truly is at the bottom of the depth chart, or are you just saying that more than one list has him placed there?
If Thomas is on ten lists as a bottom TE then all it proves is that the team doesn’t take the depth chart seriously. So it makes the depth chart, this early, irrelevant, IMO – until they take it seriously and the games start being played.

Cant worry about this depth chart to much because we have like 90 player and lots of them will be cut. Back ups get alot more playing time to show there worth in preseason games anyway so everythings subject to change next week.

I do think fans think differently than coaches do
And often view things, and players, in the wrong light, or without the full story. Does Thomas belong there? Not sure, but the rest of the depth chart looks about on target, and you shouldn’t write something off because you disagree with one aspect of it.

I disagreed with two, not one
And they weren’t small differences, but major ones. I’m sure I could find more if I looked. In fact… yep… Ty Warren isn’t a starter. Nuts. A $4M per year backup. yeah right. And Mario Haggan 2nd string MIKE? Yeah, right.
Fans might look at it differently than coaches, but that doesn’t include common sense answers like whether or not Orange Julius is ahead of Gronk. Or whether Ty Warren was brought in as a backup. Or whether Haggan can cover the deep middle.
I’m not saying a depth chart… official… can’t be useful. I’m sure it has its moments. All I’m saying is that I’ll trust my own common sense over this piece of paper all day and twice on Sundays.
If they fudged on a few easy ones, then it’s probably fair to say they fudged on a lot of harder ones. It’s probably fair to say they didn’t actually care even a little about the accuracy of the chart that they gave to the public. It’s probably fair to say this isn’t a picture of the list Foxy Bear has on his own chalkboard.

I think the problem is misunderstanding
If you understand Fox, you understand why the TE section looks like it does. Thomas won’t be used like a regular TE in this system, he’ll come in as a pass catcher or to cause mismatches, but on most plays, Gronk or Quinn, whichever Fox keeps, will be in since blocking is more important to Fox than receiving. Is Thomas a better TE to you, yes, is he to Fox, not sure. Same goes for Haggan, I think your disagreements stem from a misunderstanding of Fox’s and Allen’s defenses, Haggan can play at MLB, though fans may not like it, he can do it, and he might. Do I personally think it’s best, not really, but after studying Fox, it works.

I do this, we all do this, a coach says something we like, it’s being open and transparent, he says something we don’t like, it’s coach-speak. Same with analysts, we like the ones who agree with us and dislike those who disagree with us.

When a chart takes that much clarification and that much ‘understanding’…. then I think it’s fair to call it irrelevant. When it’s subject to that much interpretation and when it’s seen as being less accurate than a chart you or I put together, then it’s probably fair to view it as a child’s play toy – put out in the world only to appease the league rules… and not intended to be accurate.
As to discrediting things we don’t agree with… that’s not me. At least I like to think it’s not. I don’t think that’s the case here. I think Thomas will not only play more than Gronk, but that he’s also way ahead on the depth chart. And I believe a real depth chart will eventually reflect that. I think ‘a real’ depth chart will eventually show that Ty Warren is a starter, that Kuper is a starter and that Haggan probably isn’t even on the team (let alone ahead of Irving at MIKE).
I don’t think I think these things just so that I can disagree with a dumb depth chart. I think I think these things for no other reason than because they’re right.

I guess we have different purposes for a depth chart
For coaches, at least from what I’ve read, it is about who will be playing the most, and as such this chart is relevant to them, but to a fan, it may not be. But just because someone doesn’t understand something and it is irrelevant to them, doesn’t make it any less true.
I guess it’s a differing of view, but just a note, Kuper is the starter on this chart, it was a typo on DenverBroncos.com that said otherwise. And as for Warren and Haggan, that sounds more like what you want rather than what TC reports point to.

Haggan is likely cut, but certainly isn’t ahead of Irving at MIKE. And Warren is a dominant starter. Also, Thomas will be way ahead on the depth chart once they make a real one. You will see these things come true. Not because I said so, and not because I simply want to argue with a depth chart… but because they make sense. They pass the common sense test. This depth chart doesn’t.

Rodney I think what Maxie is saying in his own special way
is that the 2nd, 3rd and 4th string players are going to be playing more series and getting more reps than the starters in the first preseason game. By publishing this depth chart it allows for greater evaluation of players or to just give them more reps than maybe those listed as the starters. Guys like Haggen even tho they have game film etc on him seeing him in live game action will be a better evaluation of him than in practice. I think this holds true to most of the positions and as cuts are made a depth chart that makes more sense will begin to take shape. I wouldn’t be to concerned with this chart making any sense just yet as it is more of an evaluation depth chart than anything else.
But this is just my opinion anyway.

It may be listed this way so that 3rd string rookies like Mohammed, Thomas, Irving etc will get more playing time in the 2nd half.
I’m not sure of the breakdown but maybe they want to give them more game time to work out kinks against 3rd string defenses and lessen the risk of injury? Just a thought.

He’ll move up IMO after he gets more time and into a rythm with everything.

Just because JT isn’t listed as starter doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be one of the first subs when they need a high upside passing situation. This is really just the depth chart for this particular alignment on first downs. Fox is probably placing a premium on the running game.

I can’t see him making the roster because I can’t see him as a better blocker than Quinn, I can’t see him as a better catcher than Green, Thomas and Rossario, and I can’t see him as a better two-way player than Fells or Rossario.
We have six capable TEs, IMO, and at least two of these guys get cut, IMO.I think one of them is going to be Gronk. We shall see…

Fells, Gronk, Thomas and one other, either Green or another one. And Gronk is the better blocker, it’s proven. Could he be cut, sure, but I can’t logically see why.

I get that PFF ranks Gronk as the better blocker, but he’s played behind Quinn in the preseason. One of these two stay, IMO. You can’t keep Peyton Manning and Tom Brady on the same team any more than you can keep two blocking TEs. And I certainly don’t subscribe to the idea that Gronk is a good receiver.

And neither is a good receiver, but we have to remember Fox and McCoy won’t keep four receiving TE’s, it’s just not in their offense, that’s why I think we keep Fells, who can do both, Thomas, who is okay at blocking and a good receiver, and two others. I love depth chart discussion, and I appreciate you sharing your point of view, but it’s hard to really respect a person who is so locked into one outcome they can’t imagine something different. Too often we want something to happen and create reasons it will. I’ve done this, but we need to keep in mind other alternatives then just what we think will happen. I trust my depth chart analysis, but I’m also aware Fox has seen much more than I have, and could easily make a decision that I didn’t see coming because as a fan, what I think is best, isn’t always what the coach thinks is best.

And I used respect because I couldn’t find another word. It comes off really bad when you act like it’s going to happen your way, no matter what. I come off arrogant all the time, I rarely do it on purpose and I’m wrong sometimes too, but I do think the idea that there can only be one outcome can lead to people looking bad, and I wouldn’t want that for anyone.

I’m going to track each new chart to see what happens. I can say studying last season’s chart, it sure didn’t change much, but this season we have a lot more rookie and UDFA talent, so it could be very different.

being quite accurate as to what players are available at which position, but very fluid as to the actual ranking of players at a single position.

We’ve been following LR since prior to the 2009 draft.
SAM is an interesting story for two reasons. One, the shift back to the 4-3 puts a premium on speed. In other words, the slow 3-4 LBers are a thing of the past. Two, depth is a concern at SAM — particularly experienced depth.
I’m not surprised to see Haggan at MIKE because his speed is inadequate for SAM in the 4-3, but Robinson is a slightly different story. He’s clocked fast enough to meet the responsibilities of the position and he’s played other LB positions, too, so he’s a good fit at SAM even though questions remain about his ability to handle the position at the pro level.
The point is that there are openings at LB. Mohamed was penciled in to the 2nd string backup position a little prematurely. He has a shot at making the roster but it would be unrealistic to expect him to play a key backup role this soon.
BTW — notice the mix of 3-4 and 4-3 somatotypes at LB. It’s hardly surprising that we have people defaulting into MIKE but it will be interesting how assignments are divvied up. We may see the bigger LBs in run situations/downs and the newer types in pass coverage situations/downs, when and if Miller is out or re-delegated. And, of course, we may not see the SAM backups at all. The substitution and assignment pattern will be interesting.

Andrew Mason is saying the Kuper thing is a mistake. Kuper is a starter.
Otherwise, not many surprises. First thoughts:
The one thing that shows up with this depth chart is just how thin our offensive line is. We will need to pick up some players who get cut or waived.
Surprising, I guess, that Julius Thomas is running wit the 1s and is listed as “other.” I figured Q Carter would be ahead of McCarthy. Haggan at MLB doesn’t make much sense.
Seeing Vaughn as our primary kick returner is great. If he’s ahead of Cox, we may have found something here.

one area to look for at final cuts
I hate to recommend Legwold, and he may have even stolen the idea from us, but dumpster diving for backup OLs at final cutdown is an excellent idea. There’s an awful lot of value there, both young and old. The only way we’re going to get a crack at those players is when the rosters shrink. And intermediate cutdown will free some up, too, but the numbers are fairly static up until right before the season.

Kuper Lost
Everything looked as expected except RG. One of three problems.
1.Russ Hochstein had an off season spiritual and physical rebirth and maybe even a face to face with God.
2. Kuper was involved in a bad accident where he lost one or both arms.
3. The list is wrong!

my man Eddie Royal is the starter thus far at the #2 wideout position, the bad news, my man Eddie Royal is penciled in as the starting punt returner. Come on Squid, take the PR away from Eddie! Anyway, I like seeing Unrein appearing on the depth chart. This kid is huge and Wyoming has an uncanny reputation for producing NFL talent, albeit sporadically. A lot of great WR’s play ST’s as well because they can make plays on both squads, 2009 was the perfect example of this for Royal, who was a beast on ST that year.

But most fast WR’s, 1st round picks included, spend time returning kicks. Both Bryant and DT did it last season, in 2009 Heyward-Bay, Harvin and Britt played ST. 2008 saw zero 1st round WR, but in 2007 you had Ginn Jr. and Davis.

Depends on if the team finds someone better
The reason guys like Jackson, Royal, Harvin and others still do it because the team doesn’t have anyone better. Last season neither Decker, DT or Squid outplayed Royal.

Rod Smith was a PR for many years.
I share the concerns with seeing Royal get banged up, but it is hard to find a big player with the hands, shiftiness, and speed required of a PR. So, most teams have to take their chances with their smaller and potentially less durable CBs and WRs. It is an acceptable risk for most teams.
I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.

Sadly his football talents will be going to jail IMO… if you read the police report it seems pretty straight forward that he is in very deep trouble… the DB brass has to see the same. This corner painted himself into a corner with his initial response of not having had any relations that night with the victim because she was clearly passed out and that would be “sick”… there is no consensual alibi now that the DNA shows he was the sperm donator… her follow up post event also seems very consistent and legitimate… dude seems to be bad apple…

That’s why the play the game. The game being “jury trial” in this case. I seriously cannot imagine a narrative that explains it with him innocent, but then again, before the affidavit came out, I couldn’t imagine half the crap that was in there. So who knows.

The NT in the 4-3 is the 1-Tech I believe and your typical DT in the 4-3 is a 3-Tech. Correct?
I'm not an expert on it
But I think you are right, while in the 4-3 you don’t have a monster NT, but you have a DT who is slightly bigger than a DE and then you also have a larger DT that will try and collapse the pocket or require a double team.

situational depth
CB depth is deeper than most positions. Squid has assignments at PR, gunner, besides vying for time as the dime. After cuts, he may be used more as a CB, too, since he’ll bump up.

I, among others, proposed that. What people need to be mindful of is that depth is very short on the OL because it’s a luxury to have more than 7 active. So, we can add talent at final cutdown because — besides being available — they aren’t being relied upon initially.
In other words, we’re merely trading places on the inactive list. The value of a pickup is in the long-term.

Slot isn't an official spot on a depth chart usually
And at WR, you are often shifted to different spots on the field. Look for Royal to still have time in the slot.

I want to see Royal more in a #2 role
but he should still get some time in the slot, especially with Decker filling in as the #2. I still see us having an advantage over Defenses CB depth with our WRs.

He did have a larger role at #2 in 2009
And was completely out of place, he’s suited to the slot the best. I do think he’ll get more passes thrown his way, but personally, he has the most success in the slot because of YAC, where he was in the top 10 in the league last season.

I’d like to see him outside more too. Just because he’s small doesn’t mean he can’t get outside. Look at Steve Smith… Santana Moss… etc…

It’s when you compare his production outside versus in the slot, there is a big difference. Also Santana Moss prefers the slot, he just plays outside because of how lacking the ‘Skins WR’s are.

The big picture may play a different role with Carter, Bruton and McBath. Some of these guys that won’t be here at final cuts will get some 1st team reps I would suspect to give the coaches something they can look at. Let’s wait and see how he does in the next couple of weeks in live action before we make any guesses…

I want to say how awesome a particular Rockies player is and that he will be the MVP, but the last time I mentioned it in my sig he went out with an injury, so, GO PLAYER WHO IS SO AWESOME!
Very Deep Team
at every position… except for Offensive Line. The starters are great don’t get me wrong. But if any of those backups have playing time it would scare me, and this is really the only position I can say that for. This team can make a strong run at the division IF AND ONLY IF the o-line can stay healthy for pretty much the whole season.

I read last year the Broncos had the number one defense against the opponents #1 WR and near the bottom of the league against their #2 and #3 WRs.
I’m really happy to see Rahim Morris on the 1st team. Seems like a good kid with a lot of ability and smarts.
Otherwise, I’m seeing the same backfield that got torched last year. Champ excepted.
Will having a real pass rush help them out? Of course, it will save their butts. Still, I worry that our depth there is nill.
Still, I just have this feeling that Elway is going to be a legendary GM- he’s going to make his own QB career look quaint by comparison. I just have this feeling like Jack Elway’s blood is flowing through him and just that pure scouting instinct combined with having been through every big time scenario there is as collegiate QB, as the 1st pick, within a franchise as the QB gives him this undeniable power and strength in this position.
He’s on track to be the owner and I think we’re going to see a lot of amazing moves until Elway is as batty as old Al Davis.
So, I can live with a lack of depth at any position. It’s not even the start of season 1 of the Elway era.
Besides, the fact that our defense might just be outright good makes me want to dance. How lucky the Broncos are to have gotten the 2nd pick this year instead of last year. Would have sucked to have gotten Tebow at #2 intead of #25. ;)
Did you see the Chiefs low-ball free agency? The Raiders lost their best player. Turned over their head coach again. San Diego… slow steady decline for years now.
Sounds like a division ripe for a team with a young talented hungry D.

Spencer Larsen stands out to me
I get that he likely is FB1 on this roster, but I think he ends up being a special teams guy mostly and we see 2 of the RBs on the field more often.
Other than that, my god our o-line depth is vomit inducing. Some other team rookie and borderline vet pass rushers will have a great change to impress in preseason.

Julius Thomas so low, word was he is having an awesome camp and had been running with the 1st string offense and doing extremely well.
Not sure why Warren is behind Bunkley, also not sure why Mohamed isn’t higher at WLB, he had been running with the 1st team defense most of camp, surprised Nate Jones is still on this team, had heard Vaughn was having a good camp, but I would be worried if I was Cox, with his legal troubles, he may be looking for a job in a few weeks.

Exactly what I was going to say. The only rookies above third string are Miller, Franklin and Moore, which were our first three picks that also happen to be at positions of need. Sylvester is listed at second string FB too, but I find it highly unlikely we even keep two fullbacks. My thoughts are that (besides the three I already mentioned), Thomas, Irving and Carter are virtual locks but they will have to work themselves up the depth chart through preseason.

Official Depth chart is only 1st-3rd team
1st-3rd are in order, then the rest at the position are listed as “other” and are in alphabetical order via their first name. I think he could make a strong push into the 3rd position. Also I could see him in goal line packages.
The “other” listings apply to all positions, so beyond the first team names, the other are not necessarily in order.

Julius Thomas is the only lock at TE! It might behoove everyone to look at how much time he’s already seen and ignore his current depth chart ranking.
As I’ve said, TE is extremely unpredictable because there are so many configurations of players that are optimal. Thomas has the greatest upside as a receiver — however — so he’ll be in any of those configurations. The only question I have at this point is whether we can carry an extra (maybe to cover FB/HB).

For an NFL franchise that has a HOF TE in its' recent history,
the Broncos sure don’t appear to appreciate what a key position it is. Orton/Tebow would kill for a TE like Greg Olsen!

we commenters generally undervalue the blocking part of TE duties.

We also tend to undervalue any abilities in a defensive end besides quarterback sacks.
Sometimes even hurries and pressures are ignored if the number in the sack column isn’t very high.

You both are correct
Ayers and Quinn/Gronk are good examples of this. Ayers will never be a sack guy, but he creates pressure and can alter the direction of a play and stop the run. Both Gronk, who ranked in the top 5 blocking TE’s last season, and Quinn, both fit Fox’s blocking TE mold well.

Second String Defensive End Competition
Of all of the positions this would be the hardest for me to narrow down. There is a lot of upside between the 5 we have backing up Ayers and Dum and also a lot of unknowns. Will be interesting to watch those guys in the preseason.
Jarmon made a great tackle for a loss in the Invesco practice but haven’t seen much of him or Harvey, the two front runners as of now. I think / hope Beal makes the team, judging from college all he does is makes plays. Hunter I could see being better suited at DE than he was at OLB last year where he was too slow to shut down the edge, so I hope he gets a shot. And Veikune I know has his supporters but I can’t say much about him.
Excited to see who steps up… Should be solid depth on the D line however it plays out!

I only noticed him twice in the scrimmage, but both times he was giving Beadles or Franklin a good fight (cannot remember exactly who was blocking him) The tackle for a loss was nicely done, but looked more like a blown assignment by Franklin.

I’m really hoping that this changes since Thomas by all accounts is having a really good camp and we are not going to keep 6 TEs on the 53 man roster.
Could we put both Green and Thomas on the PS without them getting snatched up by another team?

What I’ve said is: there will be 2 – blocking TEs and 1 – pass catching TE. They may keep 4, too, with one or more doing double duty at H-back/FB. The hitch is that there’s overlap in the categories. It’s also the case that the pass catching types happen to be less experienced.

This team is pretty decent at the starter positions. We do have the worst backup O-line in modern NFL history

The first depth chart is pretty meaningless
This won’t look the same starting day. Our Oline depth is absolutely horrible. I have never heard of most of those guys.
1. Julius Thomas will be the #1 TE starting day
2. I think Nate Irving will be the #2 ILB on when the season starts. I still think Haggan is a horrible fit in this scheme. Dude is a 3-4 OLB or ILB. I would take Irving and Mays over Haggan any day
3. Quinton Carter will be behind Dawk when the season starts. Much better player and athlete then McCarthy. Not even close

In spite of our preferences and perspectives on the long term viability of dis or dat guy starting, the reality is that EFX inherited all three of the QBs. EFX could very well have a very different preference for “their” guy and just use whoever is available until they can get out of the holding pattern in a year or two. Maybe keeping Tebow on the bench this season will keep his trade value from dropping.
Aargh, this is my first post on the QB controversy. I probably could have held out longer but when the Zappa and Boydy are in the same thread I just can’t resist throwing my net in the water.
I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.

What I see is a very common, patient way to handle the depth chart.
Fox isn’t going to hand over early positions at this time. Make the young kids work and move up. Clearly JTHomas is above that position, and Nate Jones isn’t making this team. But Fox gets no benefit from burying some vets on the depth chart now. They need to fight and compete, and the young kids need to man up and take their places.
I see Haggan, Jones, Rich Quinn, McCarthy all being cut even though they are above other, younger players.
This is smart way to do version one of the depth chart. They only difference that we have now, is instant availability on the internets, and chance to comment about it.
This will look much different before Preseason Week 3.

1. Lance Ball being 3rd string over LenDale. Interesting.
2. Eron Riley being higher on the depth chart then Britt Davis and Mark Dell who have been killing it in camp from reports.
3. Rich Quinn and Gronk are higher then Rosario, Thomas, AND Green. I don’t get that at all.
4. Jeremy Jarmon over Jason Hunter is interesting. I wonder if we will end up cutting Hunter. I hope not. He is nice depth at the DE position.

Dick Quinn is a going to be blocking a lot. People forget about that in Foxy's scheme
I see Jarmon as a DE/DT guy going back and forth for game day depth. I think he has more pass rushing skills than Ayers.
Lee Robinson turned heads last year. I think he’s a better 4-3 fit rather than 3-4.
All the rookies are lower than they will be in 3-4 weeks.
A few thoughts
I agree with most of what you said, but a few responses:
1. I actually like this, White hasn’t had a season go by recently that wasn’t ruined by injury or personal issues, and bringing in McGahee seems to make him expendable.
3. I think it comes down to who will be on the field the most, and in Fox’s and McCoy’s offense, the blocking TE is going to be on the field the most. And I’m also not a huge Rosario fan, to many mistakes during his career for me to really trust him.
4. I agree with this as well, Jarmon’s film and stats both aren’t impressive.
6. Camp notes from just about everyone seems to be showing Irving having the usual rookie struggles, and we have to keep in mind, MLB is a tough position to learn, and Irving isn’t exactly top tier talent, though I think he’ll develop into a starter.
7. This to me was the biggest shocker, Squid has had an interception in every TC practice so far, I went back and checked. But it might have to do with his role, he isn’t built for natural CB play, more like a roaming nickel or safety.

I’ve been advocating that since he was drafted. The problem now is that Safety is crowded, but we also shouldn’t think of Nickel as a rarely used/unimportant position.

That style of play is encouraged, and since we got rid of Hill, we lack deep safety depth outside of Moore. On passing downs I could see Squid come in as a 3rd safety to play the middle.

This depth chart has it’s strategical purposes, and giving out true info isn’t one of them. Motivation is first and foremost.
We need a veteran Tackle for depth something fierce.
Give me Moreno, Mcgahee, Johnson and if we want a 4th back, I’ll take White.
Don’t love our FB’s situation. Maybe Fells is in the plans?
The days of a slot WR playing a big role here are done. 3rd and long primarily. Which means we have crazy depth at that position and Thomas will see the PUP for sure.
Is it just me, or does our Defense look more than respectable? Heat off the edge and a deep secondary. If those DT’s can clog it up some, I feel pretty good about that side of the ball.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of many AFC teams with a better group of corners, 1-5.

I love how everyone thought Bunkley was gonna be cut
and right now he’s beating out Warren for the starting 1 tech spot. I still expect to see alot of Bunkley and Warren at the same time but it’s still kind of funny (although it does anger me since we’re paying him 5 million a year). Same with Vickerson and how people screamed betrayal when he lost so much weight and he ends up the starting 3 tech.
The only reason Nate Jones is still on the team is because of the current legal problems with Cox. He’s insurance just in case.
The only thing that surprises me so far is seeing Haggan as 2nd string MIKE and McCarthy at 2nd string SS. I thought for sure both Irving and Carter would get those spots.

It seems like the consensus was that this is the D-lineman most were excited about.

With a decent defense and a decent running game, last year's team would have been MUCH better.
I think those aspects are improved, and I think the offense was fine last year. I think the offense suffered with some weird play calling at crucial times. I think McCoy/Fox can fix that this season. If we had even had Doom healthy last year, our D would have been vastly improved. Now we have VON DOOM and I am EXCITED. I think, regardless of QB, we are gonna surprise some people this season. KAPOW! Who was that masked man?! That’s right, you just got beat by the BRONCOS!

Don't understand the TE lineup
Who is Daniel Fells? Why Is Quinn that high? Gronkowski was the best TE last year. Julius Thomas apparently had a monster training camp but is behind somebody named “Dante Rosario?” Excuse me if I spelled his name wrong.

was with Fox in Carolina. He’s decent, nothing special.

Rosario is the type of guy who plays like a blue collar worker that makes a few great plays.
I think he comes to Denver with a better offense to work with so his level may elevate some.
Fells is a big TE with both blocking and receiving skills and he may get some reps at FB being 272lbs!
We need a legitimate threat ay TE!

I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.

Daniel Fells would be one of the many TEs
that kicked our proverbial ass last year when he was playing with the Rams. Good blocker and reciever…over 270 lbs.
I dont see that happening with this defense

Leap Frog!
Prediction ! Before the middle of the season arrives, Nate Irving will have leap frogged Mario Haggan at the Mike LB position and will be putting plenty of pressure on Joe Mays for a starting role.The guy can sniff out plays and leaves his black and blue calling card all over the bodies of ball carriers. A big hitter! Reminds me of how Dawkins can smack people down.

The reason why Rahim Moore and Orlando Franklin are listed as starters is because they let Reynaldo Hill and Ryan harris go. Mays is the starter because of veteran leadership, but keep in mind he has been picking BDawk’s brain all off season so we’ll see. From what I have ead thus far he (Mays) is a smaller version of Mike Tyson, a little bull that hits like a Mack truck…

No wonder why Tebow got mauled at the scrimmage…good lord. I’ve heard of 4 of those guys I believe…

Glad to see the depth chart is based on merit. Not. Quinn is performing just as well, if not better than Tebow and was very good during Sat scrimmage albeit vs 2nd & 3rd team D. Great “competition.”

Even if you believe Tebow doesn’t deserve to be #2, I think he does, but that’s besides the point. For Tebow to come in on the goal line or the RZ, he has to be the #2 QB on the roster.

I don't think many teams will bring a 3rd QB on the active roster
Like the article says, most teams will just use the roster spot on another player. Here’s how the article says it:
