Tim Tebow & Michael Vick? Why Backing Up Kyle Orton Might Be Tebow's Best Option

Don't know if I agree or not, but it's an interesting take that I haven't heard of. Given the pro and anti-Tebow fans endlessly repeating the same arguments it's nice to see one I haven't seen before.

Sorry bro, you can’t ignore the fact that Tebow scored 25% of Denver’s TD’s last year. Unless Fox has lost complete faith in him he’ll be #2 just so he can be brought in on certain downs to make scoring plays happen. Quinn wants to be #2… he should learn to run like Tebow.

My question is...

If Tebow sits another year to improve his game, but the Broncos tank this year and get the opportunity to Draft Luck or someone who is regarded as a sure fire franchise QB, will the FO give Tebow the opportunity to show what he can do? I have my doubts that he will be given a fair shot in that scenario.

No way. If Luck holds his value and is drafted by the Broncos #1 overall Tebow will be dealt or asked to change positions. The utter disaster of McDaniel’s drafts will have been realized… before their potential had ever been evaluated.

Because he lost an offseason, let Tebow sit and learn more. If the season were to start tanking, I believe they’d put Tebow in sooner rather than later.

hmm... the assumption seems to be

that starting tebow would stunt his growth. did it stunt vick’s growth or did vick need to be playing in order to start to figuring out how to correctly play the position while the live bullets were flying? i’d go with the latter. i actually think he would’ve been out of the league had he not had those initial few years of starting experience. the other detail is that mike took a year off to collect his thoughts and mature. i’d say that tebow’s ahead of that curb just by the fact that he’s more apt to spend off hours on football as opposed to electrocuting dogs or pounding out license plates. interesting comparison though.

the thing is… um, well, it’s not so much… dude. it’s really hard to respond with freaking freddy kruger staring me down. let me scroll a little bit… okay… um, where were we…

yeah, we’ll be okay. once the season starts i think things will settle. but i do think we’re stuck a little bit—along with Elfoxx—until we get out from under the ghost of mcD. it’s kind of a “kiss my ass” on the way out from mcD if you think about it. he traded for kyle, then traded for brady because he didn’t like kyle, moved up to draft timmy because he didn’t like kyle and/or brady, released simms, and then gave kyle a chunky one year contract, leaving Elfoxx with a big ol’ pile on their doorstep. at least it’s only one year though. once this year’s over, Elfoxx will have the handcuffs removed and we’ll have some clarity, for pete’s sake. don’t you think? maybe?

it’s a lot easier to argue about starting tackles and guards than it is QBs. maybe you and i need to take opposing sides on orlando franklin vs. herb taylor and kind of mix things up around here. … eh, it’s an idea…
