Hey Kyle, you dont know me. One time I watched you practice during the 2010 training camp, that was about the closest we'll ever get to meeting. Heck, you will probably never read this, its kind of silly after all. I just wanted to let you know, I have good news, midst all the negativity surrounding the Denver Broncos, there is a silver-lining. Denver Broncos fans think you are an elite QB. No really, they do. Everyone around here and in the media expect a lot from you. Take a look around. It all over the place. They expect you to avoid that pass-rush. They expect you to complete every 3rd-down pass. They expect you to call audibles at the line an exploit that hole in the opposing secondary you just saw. They expect you to execute each play to perfection. They expect you to shoulder this team and carry us to victory, all by yourself. My question to you is, why have you not done that? I mean seriously, come on. You are an elite QB right? Where is that scramble that buys just enough time in the pocket? Where is that pass with just enough touch as you are being dragged down? Where is that confidence of an elite qb?? You have fallen short of all our expectations and for that, I and thousands of others are highly disappointed. We needed you on Monday night, and you gave us a mediocre performance at best. Shame on you.
Now people are saying that you suck, you cant win games for us, you arent a play-maker, you are mediocre, that you just straight up aren't that good. Well, all the games in recent memory kind of point to that conclusion. I hate to say it, but it looks like you arent that good afterall. Sorry if I just burst your bubble. We were are caught up in such high expectations and drunk off our collective asses (save a few insightful fans) on kool-aid we lost sight of the fact that you sir, you were an afterthought. You were a toss-in on a trade for Jay Cutler, which primarily netted us draft picks. You were a back-up for a Chicago team that carried you on their running game and stout defense. Heck, all you had to do was put it on cruise-control and enjoy the ride.
Now you are on a team with neither a formidable defense or a good, or existent for that matter, running game. You have been put in the position of carrying this team. A position for which you are not qualified for. I have, and always will be a fan of yours. But we as fans have forgotten you were never meant to be the franchise QB to take us to the SB. We trash you like we expected you to be that. And that is not fair. Sure, it would be great if you held onto the ball, and you know, didnt just drop it. But come on, the guy we traded for two 1st round draft picks (and just happened to get you) for did it...
All you are capable of doing just managing. Playing mediocre football. You know what, that will have to do. By that, I dont mean Im ok with the QB for my team playing mediocre football. Normally I expect only the best from the Broncos, and so do the rest of the fans. But unfortunately we cannot expect that right now. We have a glorified back-up as our starting QB. A run game that doesnt run (o-line's fault as well) and a defense that is getting better and is on its way.. but is elite by no means. No longer will I expect you to win games for us, but if you dont, I wont complain, because we cant expect that. Im sorry you were thrown in this situation, and Im sorry the fans, myself included, thought you were better than you are. Good luck with you career, and I sure as hell hope you find a way to win games for us in your less than ideal situation, but Im not holding my breath.
It is totally logical to peg part of our dismal last 2 seasons as your fault. They lack of real offensive as your fault. Lack of a supposed locker-room leader as your fault.
But you were set up for failure and you know what... that for damn sure is not your fault.
