Denver Broncos Move DT Ty Warren to IR

The Denver Broncos gave us some bad news. Per a tweet from the Denver Posts Lindsay Jones, DT Ty Warren, who injured his tricep in Training Camp, has been relegated to Injured Reserve. This clears up the roster spot for RB Jeremiah Johnson's activation from the Practice Squad. Now the Broncos can seek another healthy Defensive Tackle.

Apparently there was a setback in Warren's progress. Either that or the severity of his injury forced the team's decision. With the list of walking wounded at the critical level, the Broncos won't have very many healthy players Inactive for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Get healthy Ty.

Go Broncos!

meh, I still think he could have been very good this year

I would consider this more like a line drive that was snagged by the 3rd baseman. not a home run but could have been a double or triple.

He got hurt bro

that’s not their fault. It coulda happened to any player on any team. It just stinks that it happened to be our best DT. We have definitely been hit hard by the injury bug again. I think it has a lot more to do with this team sucking than people realize. We just can not stay healthy. Maybe it’s time to look at a different training staff.

I'm gonna call him "Ort" cuz he's never on.

Why theyve kept the same guy since Shanny is beyond me

Could have to do that most of our superstars are 30+

True.

We seem to be a team split in half. One half is all youngsters. Some of them have great potential, some don’t. The other half is all vets that are clearly on the back side of their respective careers. We don’t have many superstars that are just in their prime. Doom is the closest one I can come up with. Maybe Ryan Clady. DJ is also a really good player, but I wouldn’t call him a superstar. Not to be captain obvious, but we clearly need more good-to-great players that are either in their prime or just reaching it. Until we get more of those guys on the roster, or until some of our very own players reach their potential, I’m afraid there won’t be much else changing.

I'm gonna call him "Ort" cuz he's never on.

by grind_core on Sep 17, 2011 3:40 PM MDT up reply actions

Problem with Doom

is he’s gettin close to being dubbed injury prone. Broke his hand, tore his pec, now his shoulder. I really hope Im just being paranoid, he’s one of my favs after all. The second part where you state the need for more good to great players is a reflection of the sh*tty drafting weve had for the past 5 years (except this last one)

Maybe he should be an outside linebacker again.

Maybe he is just too small / brittle to be an every down lineman. I’m not knocking him, or the 4-3. I like the moves, I just wonder if we could have stayed with the 3-4. Doom on one side and Miller on the other. Pretty scary stuff.

I'm gonna call him "Ort" cuz he's never on.

For sure

unfortunately, it looks like we’ll be in a 4-3 for a while

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Training Staff

Remember a couple of years ago when there were pulled muscles? We found out later that Tuten wasn’t allowed to change the conditioning program. When he did get that chance, the pulled Hammies and groin injuries dropped off. Torn muscles are a little different. I don’t think you can blame the trainers on a torn tricep. There were no OTA’s this year and Warren had been previously injured, but those were knee and hip injuries. Also, he plays at the most physical position getting double teamed on nearly every play, plus the age thing. And bad luck.

recent spate of injuries

The wet conditions during the Oakland game had a lot to do with injuries during that game.

I don’t see any problems with Tuten’s training methods and I’m very encouraged by his introduction of plyometrics to the training regimen. Our current emphasis on stretching is about the only true preventative measure that can be taken. Criticism of Tuten — as if he was somehow at fault — is off-base and indicates a poor understanding of physiology by the person making the criticism.

Having better depth makes injuries less of a problem. We’re still not deep enough.

A tremendous point and something I have been wondering for 3 seasons

Rich Tuten seems to be locked in at Dove Valley but we have so many muscle injuries every season. Hamstrings, Groins pulls and tears………….there has to be something other teams are doing better than our staff.

I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. Coach Norman Dale "Hoosiers"

Him and Greg Saporta have worked

for long stints at each of their jobs. Here is the preview I did on them not too long ago. And really er did have a dropoff in the pulled muscles.

Warren would not have worked out with our training staff in the offseason in any year,

and none of our team did this year. How can anyone relate this year’s pattern to the training staff?

This is a Xanders failure. Why not IR this guy a month ago and free up a roster spot? We had to cut a player to keep him around for no reason.

Xanders needs to take off his orange tinted glasses and start seeing how to be a GM and not just a salary cap guy that creates smart contracts.

Orton + Red Zone = FG. It worked last time.

Made a great plan to waste a roster spot

I am not sure people understand how important a roster spot is especially before week one

by Bronco$ on Sep 18, 2011 9:14 AM MDT up reply actions

I am not a Xanders fan, but I have to think that the training staff thought he could recover. I am glad it happened this week rather than after week 6.

Does anyone have a short list of FA targets for the D Line that we could sign?

The move was made to free a roster spot

and is probably why he stayed on the roster. Now we pretty much have a rotational spot available right? Can we move players back and forth off the practice squad?
Anyway…… How many times are the Broncos going to bring in a player to help out only to have them injured or play terrible. We just cannot seem to get a unit together for any period of time…..

Go Broncos!

barring a contagious disease

Jeremiah Johnson will be kept on the active/inactive list for at least 3 weeks. They can waive him before that, at the risk of someone else picking him up, but he would still get paid by the Broncos for 3 weeks, at the Paragraph 5 minimum for a player with 0 accrued seasons ($375k / 17 × 3). If we were to waive him before the 3 weeks were up, and another team picked him up, they would be able to play him free for the remainder of the three weeks, while we continued to pay his salary.

Since that situation sucks, expect Johnson to remain on the 53 until week 5, minimum. If they want to move him back to the practice squad, they have to waive him, he has to clear waivers, and they can offer him a PS contract, just like normal.

The good news for Johnson is that he is guaranteed to get an accrued season this year, and he got a very nice raise, at least for 3 weeks.

I do not think this is correct
The good news for Johnson is that he is guaranteed to get an accrued season this year

As far as I understand he would have to be on the active list for 6 games to earn an accured year
