Deja vu, all over again

Got home tonight to watch the recording of the final preseason game, and thought maybe I was looking at an old 2010 game by mistake.  And even worse was what appeared to be a serious injury to Syd'Quan Thompson, who has played well this preseason, particularly as a kick returner.

Looks like we have very good 1st teams on both sides of the ball, plus great kickers, but say your prayers that none of the rest of the 1st string gets hurt this year cuz the 2nd and 3rd teams look pretty awful, save a few exceptions.  And I guess my biggest concerns are the Offensive and Defensive line depths.  Near as I could tell, the theme call for the "forlorn hope" OL tonight was "Ole", as they watched pass rushers storm by untouched.

I heard the announcers mention Mohamed's name quite a few times this evening, but he looks like he needs a lot of development to become adequate for the passing game, though he's not bad for running plays and special teams.  Seemed like Quinton Carter and Jason Hunter made some plays, but I can't think of anyone else who was impressive.  Darcel McBath, maybe.

Hope the waiver wire offers some great opportunities for depth over the next few days.  And I know it's only one game, but I sure would be tempted to keep Tebow and Weber as the backup QBs and abandon the Brady Quinn experiment.  If Orton gets hurt, and I sincerely hope he does not, as a fan I'd rather see anybody but Quinn enter the game.

Also hope Syd is not seriously injured; it's a pleasure to watch him play.  Wonder what the 53 man roster will look like for the first regular season game!  I'm optimistic about the 1st team and our chances for success if we don't have many injuries, but boy the depth looks pretty shallow in some key spots.
