Former Broncos QB Jay Cutler Least Likely To Win Super Bowl This Season - SB Nation Denver
On the cusp of the 2011 NFL season, it's time to think about which teams will make it to the Super Bowl and which one will win it all. No realist will claim the Denver Broncos are anywhere close to competing for a Super Bowl. And even the most optimistic Broncos fans likely aren't calling for Kyle Orton to lift the Lombardi Trophy (oh, I'm sure there are those who say, "That's because it'll be Tim Tebow," but that's such a tiring conversation at this point).

L.A.-area lawmakers face the task of selling NFL stadium plan to colleagues - LA Times

5 Players Who Hold The Keys To the 2011 NFL Season | AthlonSports.com
It's almost impossible for one person to change a game in the NFL. There are no isolation plays, like in basketball. There's no one with the ability to make an impact like a dominant pitcher in baseball or a hot goalie in hockey. Quarterback may be the most important position in sports, but just ask Dan Marino: One quarterback can't do it alone.

Thanks for the tracks, Tim.

I’m glad I chose not to attend last night’s game. Not many team highlights althought there were a few nice individual performances. I hope are first team stays healthy so we don’t see too much of these guys.

It's possible to be a Kyle Orton fan and a Tim Tebow fan at the same time. It's called being a Broncos fan.

Tough news for Squid

Syd’Quan Thompson will be out for the season after the cornerback suffered a torn right Achilles on a play without contact.

It’s too bad, he was having a terrific pre-season.

What a shame. He's got a bright future but we needed him this year too.

That sucks. How does that even happen? Was there something about the turf? Did he have a pre-existing condition?

Seriously, how does that happen?

Sometimes the achilles just snaps. It happened to Dan Marino on a dropback with no contact.

Article about watching NFL games the "virus-free" way a bit ridiculous.

It didn’t consider international fans, and it proposes that the alternative is to pay 350 bucks. In this economy? If you spent 10 bucks on drinks at the sports bar to watch your team each week, you’d still only spend 170 bucks. Sheesh.

by Orange Rush on Sep 2, 2011 8:43 AM MDT reply actions

she has obviously never been in a situation where she was desperate to watch a game that was unavailable in her vacinity

and the $350 pricetag for streaming games is so absurd. I get games legally on MLB.com and its only $80 for way more games (since the season is longer).

I would be happy to pay for the NFL with a quality stream, but not $350

by river-z on Sep 2, 2011 9:11 AM MDT up reply actions

Well, for the preseason, I purchased the NFL Preseason Pass for $14.95 and it was well worth the price.

I’m hoping they will do something similar for the regular season. I can’t get the Broncos games where I live.

didn't nfl have a $30 online package last year?

You could watch any game starting the day after it was played.

Well

it’s a nice backup policy if DirectTV informs you AFTER the kickoff that uh, oops sorry, this game is blacked out in your area even though the stream really sucked last night. I hope that as the season progresses, the streams will get better should this happen again

Does WEber land on the practice squad?

I know that it was a very Small Sample Size, but he has been solid all through camp and the bit of playing time he gets looked pretty nice.

Ok, Von Doom is a way better nickname than what I liked. So cool to be excited about a pass rush in Denver again!

I want to say how awesome a particular Rockies player is and that he will be the MVP, but the last time I mentioned it in my sig he went out with an injury, so, GO PLAYER WHO IS SO AWESOME!

by Arimaris on Sep 2, 2011 9:11 AM MDT reply actions

No.....

…..because buzz was created about Weber 2 weeks ago as being ahead of Tebow due to that “high level Bronco source” and because he was exciting in his 1 minute of preseason play, some team will snatch him up. Most teams don’t have 3 decent QBs. Somebody will buy into the buzz and pick him up. We should cut Quinn. We know how good Quinn is and he is not in the long term plans of our team anyways.

Let me take that one step futrher.....

I believe Tebow should be our #2. If others agree with me, then what is the point of having a 5 year player as our 3rd string QB? It seems to me that the third stringer should be a young guy with potential as he grows in the NFL, don’t risk losing him by putting him on the practice squad.

Orton, Tebow, Weber ......Yes!

I sometimes wonder if Quinn is a sparkling performer in “practice” and chokes when it is “showtime”! With both Tebow and Weber in development this year, I think we could have a great one two punch next year when Orton packs up with a bag of money from some other team or just packs up. Brandon Lloyd has been high on Weber implying the kid has the “touch” when perfectly leading receivers on their routes. I have been wondering if it was Lloyd that was the “high level Bronco source” that talked about Weber being ahead of Tebow. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t Lloyd denied a practice recently and Fox said it was a “team” decision. Talking out of school brings a rap to the knuckles!

by lobouno on Sep 2, 2011 9:40 AM MDT up reply actions

Agreed. If Quinn was going to do something in the NFL, he would have done it by now.

Save the backup spots for young guys who still have some potential. Quinn’s is spent.

That is such a scam

on Comcast’s part. I clean my computer regularly, the alleged viruses aren’t that bad

by The Bradfather Strikes Back on Sep 2, 2011 12:18 PM MDT up reply actions

well knock on wood

but I’ve gotten by so far fine. FWIW I use a peer blocker but I don’t know how much it really works anyway.
What I was saying is that there isn’t an NFL package for comcast. I also don’t have an andriod or PS3 so the only way I can watch live games from home is to stream them.
I’m not exactly proud of that but for now, it’s all I can do.

One interesting note from the Tebow video

On the TD pass he looked at a diff’t receiver first, pump faked, and then went to Riley (you can see his head/eye movement in the straight-ahead view). I think this was one moment that he has showed some good improvement as he is often accused (justifiably) of staring down receivers.

The bad thing about doing nothing is that when you get tired, you can't stop and rest.

Nate Irving ....any more news on his injury?

The guy is fighting hard to wrap up that second depth spot behind Joe Mays. In my opinion, Irving will be a future “Pro Bowl” level player.

Brady Quinn looked more like Anthony Quinn last night in AZ. This is the #2 QB we have been hearing about? Yikes!

Tebow has no business being the #2 either. Despite his late 4th quarter TD pass he hung receivers out to be clobbered with lollipop passes or threw at their feet. His pocket presence is scary as he seem to be oblivious to the pass rush and holds onto the ball for far too long. Gotta learn when to step up and dump the ball off or throw it away to avoid those blindside hit that end careers and create turnovers.

I hope they keep the rookie QB Weber (or is it Webber?) from Minnesota. He seems to have a lively arm and some accuracy that is lacking from #15. Might be worth developing at a bargain salary cap hit.

ILB Mike Mohamed was a tackling machine last night. I like seeing a LB that can get in there and make stops for lost yardage. I really liked his effort and motor.

With that said…bring on those Raiders! No more Tebow this and Tebow that…Orton is starting and the focus need to be on the next game on Monday night.

Go Broncos!

I don't like Mohammed

matched up on tight ends though, Spach abused him all night long

NFL Highlights

I wonder if the analysts will acknowledge that Tebow actually may have looked off the safety to the left before his TD pass?

My one sentence summary of last night's game

Man, I sure hope no first stringers get hurt this season!

Other than linebackers, last night was an abomination.
