The Natives are getting restless

Only three games into the season and Broncos fans are already getting fired up.  Most publications picked the Broncos dead last in the AFC with the most optimistic people predicting 8 and 8.  So far after three weeks, the only real surprise in the AFC has been the terrible KC Chiefs who have lost three of their best players for the entire season and have not won a game .   Meanwhile, frustration has been growing in the Mile High City because of those predicted 8 wins, 2 of them were suppose to happen against the Raiders at home and the Titans on the road.   Many predicted the Broncos would need to start 3 and 0 based on their tough schedule and now 2 of the W's have slipped away.    Adding fuel to the fire is the inconsistent play of Kyle Orton, the inability of the Broncos to run the football, and the poor play calling by Mike McCoy.

In my first blog of the season called "Three Keys to the Kingdom" I highlighted three areas the Bronocs would need to excel at to have a good team in 2011.   Stop the run on defense, establish the run on offense, and more consistent play by Kyle Orton.   So far, after three games the Broncos have only mastered one which is stopping the run on defense.    An amazing turn around for Dennis Allen and John Fox on defense. Problem is the run offense looks as dismal as last year and Kyle Orton is simply being Kyle Orton again.  No Kyle Orton hasn't been terrible but he certainly hasn't been special.

Looking at the latest Denver Post articles, columnists are now begging for Tim Tebow to play.  Tebow Mania is flowing like a Colorado Avalanche on every forum in the country, loyal Kyle Orton fans are hunkered down but are getting run over game after game and have suddenly found themselves 5 ft under snow looking for a way to breathe.

The natives are restless and after a dismal start the fans are not wanting to live through another 2010 season.  They want the madness to stop now.   I can't say that i blame them.   The ongoing quotes from the Broncos front office is "Kyle gives us the best chance to win."  Not exactly what Tebowmaniacs and Broncos fans want to hear after Kyle Orton's won 6 of his last 26 starts.   I have said it repeatedly and will say it again,  the only way for this QB controversy to go away, is the Broncos need to win and Kyle Orton needs to perform better than average and after three games neither of those two things are happening.

The drums in the background continue to get louder and louder!   War paint is going on and the Tebow fans are gathering.   The natives are getting restless.
