Broncos will probably being going into the playoffs because of San Diego not because of anything the ofense is doing on the field today (T-Bonehead included). Next week is going to be ugly. Teams know how to play T-Bonehead and with his bad throws and INTs and Fumbles we are going nowhere other then a lower pick in the draft. Thanks for nothing T-Bonehead.

I wish he would prove me wrong and now is the time to do it, 4 minutes let in the game. Show me please!

I can cite three examples of automatic first down, obvious facemasking calls that were ignored.

You cite some examples of penalties that you saw in the game that weren’t called and get back to me.

LOL

One play was when the Chiefs had McGahee stopped in the backfield and then he broke out for a 5 yard gain, when they showed the replay one of your o-line guys was holding. That’s just one of many i saw during the game that should’ve been called, but I guess that’s just me being biased.

To me this is just like having a friend over that likes the other team.

Stuff is going to be said and no calls will happen to both teams, if people would only step back from the Rivalry B.S and look at things from both side of the ball. I know MHR can be that way, and like I said a long time ago, I want to change that about sports blogs. I’ve got the balls to come here and listen to people talk shit about my team while still trying to not lose control. All I want in return is a unbiased view, that’s it. I will succeed, because that’s how I roll.

To then punt on 4th and 7 with 2 and a half minutes left is criminal. The very best you can hope for (what we got) is the ball in our own redzone with a minute left.

You know what. I don't want to get in the playoffs this way.

This team isn’t going anywhere and a blind ref can see it. We really need a solid offseason of FA signings, drafting, and player development (we have a lot of young guys who need work that didn’t get it this past offseason) as well as a new OC and staff.

Tebow...

is less than worthless as a QB. He can’t.wont throw the ball an dhas no accuracy when he does. The D gave them a chance, but TEBOW simply does not measure up to the task., Denver needs to draft and sdevelop a QB.

by Gulbrand on Jan 1, 2012 5:16 PM MST reply actions

The playcalling needs to benefit his growth as a pocket passer, but it doesn’t.

Long outs and seams in lieu of slants and screens to get into a rhythm, only hurt is ability to grow as a passer. He’s a better passer out of the pocket (mostly), but if they want him to develop, they have to give him some easy dinks and dunks to get things rolling.

It’s a combo of the two.

Tebow Pros:

Legs
Ability to innovate when plays break down
Durability

Tebow Cons:

Holds the ball too long
Doesn’t throw a pretty ball … underthrows a lot of passes.
Still needs development in reading defenses.

Tebow had a terrible game, but it's the entire offense that is bad, from coach to OL (injuries not helping) to WRs who can't get open and can't catch.

Lots of changes need to be made. Tebow has to get better, but he has a lot of upside and would no doubt be more successful with a top WR/TE.

I would say it’s on McCoy, Tebow, and the WR’s. Fox’s defense held KC to seven points, that should almost always win a game.

You can’t expect a passing game to get in a rhythm when you only open up the offense with five minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

Please, watch the replays one more time.

Willis had moved nicely to put his body between the ball and the defender, the hand from the defender really did not push the ball out or hit it. Willis had his hands slightly crossed, especially the right hand, so was not positioned to catch it, and then closed them slightly early. Willis then goes to the ground already putting his hands on his helmet as a gesture of frustration with himself. I would not cut the kid for it, but I believe even Willis would say it was on himself.

by The Licensed Pessimist on Jan 1, 2012 5:26 PM MST up reply actions

Yes, because Orton looked so good in tonights game

I’m not saying that Tebow played well the last two games because he didn’t. But Orton has shown time and time again that when the game is on the line in the fourth quarter he wilts under the pressure. There’s no way we’re in the playoffs with Orton as our QB.

Kinda like Tebow has been doing in the fourth?

If the defense played as well with Orton, they would have a large enough lead to the point where he wouldn’t have a chance to blow it in the fourth

by The Licensed Pessimist on Jan 1, 2012 5:33 PM MST up reply actions

But what has Orton done in the last three games for the Chiefs?

They’ve scored 19, 13 and 7 points. Orton is good for field goals and nothing else. Without the Chiefs defense stepping up big time they would have lost all three games.

Just like with tebow right?

Isn’t that the entire point? Tebow hasn’t done shit during the streak but tried his best to play as bad as possible at QB.

All the while Orton is playing for an entirely new team. Who looked more comfortable leading the Broncos, Orton last year or Tebow this year?

by The Licensed Pessimist on Jan 1, 2012 5:37 PM MST up reply actions

Tebow is a second year player without a full preseason due to the lockout

Kyle Orton is an experienced veteran quarterback. Of course he looks more comfortable than Tebow.

But despite how bad Tebow has looked at times he has shown tremendous leadership and will to win. In a close game with Tebow at the healm I never believed that we were out of the game when I always felt that way with Orton at QB. Tebow provides an X factor that Orton never had. Maybe time will show that Tebow isn’t the answer. Despite this I’d sooner try Tebow than Orton because Orton has proved to me that he will never be the answer.

That doesn’t mean anything. Cam, Ponder, Dalton are rookies and yet look better than Tebow. All of them have shown leadership and yet they have shown the ability to look like legitimate QB’s

by The Licensed Pessimist on Jan 1, 2012 5:48 PM MST up reply actions

and yet some of the other younger QB's that aren't rookies regressed this year

Bradford, McCoy, Sanchez, Freeman. Flacco and Ryan started slowly as well. Ponder has not looked good this year, except against us.

Ponder?

Then why are people asking questions about whether Webb should be the starting QB in Minnesota? Not to mention that he was more of a pocket passer to start with. Dalton has looked good but then he’s another pocket passer. The only comparison that is fair is Cam Newton and his arm is far better than Tebows and his throwing action needed far less work. You also have to remember that Tebow was always going to be a work in progress due to his throwing motion and run first style at college.

Anyway I’m not comparing Tebow to those QBs. I’m comparing him to Orton who is still merely average after several years in the league. We already know his ceiling, not very high. Tebow could be capable of much more than that. Only time will tell. I at least think that we ought to find out what he is capable of.

Over the past few weeks it’s obvious he is trying to become more of a passing QB and stay in the pocket longer…….with bad results.

Hopefully the coaching staff abandons that for this year (revisit next season) and tells Tebow “If you feel just even a tiny bit antsy, just RUN it, RUN Forrest Run! We’ll work on passing from the pocket next year.”

Coaches lost this game for us. They coached to

not lose instead of coaching to win. Never has there been a better example of that phrase than in this game. For the first time this year I saw TT suffering from lack of confidence and I place that squarely on Fox and McCoy’s shoulder. Gotta turn him loose earlier and with a O plan that allows him to aggressively use his skills. I’ve totally lost any confidence in Fox to be the guy to win a SB at any time with us after watching how he coached and game planned. Glad we’re in the playoffs, but we head in with a QB whose confidence is shot… thank you Fox.

The Broncos have many other holes to fill before using a pick on a QB. I say continue to build up the defense through the draft and keep Tebow because I think he deserves a shot to improve during a full offseason. However, I think it would be wise to bring in a veteran or even keep Brady Quinn in case he doesn’t improve from the pocket.

How long can tebow run from defense and not throw the ball over and over again?

by Broncos Fan since 66 on Jan 1, 2012 5:35 PM MST reply actions

Tebow has regressed

Very unsure in the pocket; missed several reads; didn’t throw to receivers he should have and locked on to receivers and threw to them when he should not have. Well below 50% passing; he’s not making many positive yards running; he’s getting sacked AND he’s fumbling when tackled. Defenses don’t take him seriously as a threat to pass.

The running game was AMAZING behind McGahee today. Props to Willis and the O-line, at least when they ran the ball. Play calling was WAY too conservative, however. Surreal. When you don’t let Tebow throw it sends the wrong message to him. He loses confidence and starts making bad decisions. They should have called some roll-outs when KC contained him in the pocket all those times. They needed to pass on first down in key situations.

I know I’ll be attacked again for stating the obvious, but EFX need to spend a high draft pick (1st or 2nd) on a real NFL QB, prospect. Maybe not trade up for Luck or Griffin, but they need somebody who can throw the effing ball.

2 WOs in passing routes and everybody else blocking is not helping Tebow.

We need to get the TEs involved more. Our WOs are young and not have mastered the art of getting separation against NFL corners so we must give Tebow more targets to choose from. Tebow can scramble but McCoy stll feels the need to keep everybody in on pass pro.

I would rather have McD as our OC over McCoy right now

Elway needs to hire someone for offense that has full autonomy on how to run it. McCoy’s playcalling is awful and Fox’s philosophy only works if everything goes the team’s way during the game.

uh huh

You nailed it. Fox’s style is ultra-conservative. Not kicking the FG with 30 seconds left. Hell their kicker already missed one and your D is your strength and points are at a premium with the shackles you put on the offense! THat pissed me off. He plays not to lose which translates into scared. And it has taken a toll on the offense.

And I agree about McD. Terrible with personnel but he turned Orton into a solid QB, Lloyd into a big time deep threat. I suspect that he had great plans for Tebow…but we’ll never know. Unless we trade Tebow to the Rams hahahhaa. Just kidding…I love ya Timmie!!!!!!

Yo Christian Okoye, you got knocked the "F" out!

I have a hard time deciding what to do there

56 yard FG is makeable for Prater for sure, but not automatic, and only about 25 yards out of FG range going the other way, with Bowe still in the game, which would make it a 2 possession game in a game that we are not passing well at all. If the game were 6-0, I would go for it for sure, because then another FG would tie it. But because it was 7-0, we would still need to score a TD or 2 more Fg’s even if we made it. I didn’t like either option to be honest. I thought the real mistake Fox made was to call the timeout on 3rd down. Hate to be a pessimist, but we were not getting a TD there, and we left too much time on the clock.

I'd love to see Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator.

Without the overhead of head coach or general manager, I think he will be an excellent offensive coordinator, just as he was in New England. And bring his brother back as quarterbacks coach. Unfortunately, that excellence will likely be in Kansas City next year.

Cant wait to see the next espn first take

The next argument between Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless should be highly entertaining

It'll be the same ol' song and dance

Smith will say Tebow is terrible. Bayless will agree that Tebow was terrible in this game, but will talk about Tebow turning the team around from a 1-4 doomed season and helped team make it to playoffs.

by Christopher Shaw on Jan 1, 2012 5:49 PM MST up reply actions

naw, Skip will blame the coaches and WR's

that too.

but he’s been doing that for a while also. But skip does have a point regarding our WRs.

Denver Broncos 1983

Barely scraped into the playoffs at 9-7. And Elway at least had receivers who would catch the ball. I still believe the Broncos will win in the playoffs. I don’t know how far they will go but I believe they will win at least 2.

Even if I am proved wrong, I believe Tebow is good for your team because the things that he is lacking are things that can be TAUGHT. I think next year, with a full offseason being the number one QB, you will see an amazing improvement.

As it stands, all of you who are complaining about Tebow now, how many of you saw the Broncos in the playoffs at all before he started?

These guys are die hard fans here dude.

At least 75% or more have seen the Bronco in the play-offs and win the S.B. You’re not talking to a bunch of noob band wagoners, these guys know football.

What I meant by my statement

was that BEFORE Tebow took over as starter, NO ONE expected the Broncos to be in the playoffs at all. At best most figured “here’s your chance Tebow, sink or swim”.

All I personally wanted was for him to have a chance. He got it and, as a result, the TEAM played well enough, to win enough games, to make it into the playoffs. I think they’ll win at least one more. But I’m a diehard Tebow fan so no matter how bad it looks, I’m going to keep believing in his leadership abilities.

Good luck in the playoffs.

btw, I’m a dudette :-)

Oh, and if you all don't want him

I for one would be delighted to see him in New England throwing to Aaron Hernandez again. Grooming him to take over for Tommy B. Hmmmm I wonder if we could get Percy Harvin in on that too…. (just dreaming. yes I too hang out in LaLa Land sometimes)

Sorry about that.

I guess that’s what happens when you assume:P

I've seen the Broncos in every playoff game, conference championship game, and superbowl they've ever been in.

This year’s team isn’t like any of them. But I’m still happy the Broncos made the playoffs, even “backing” into them, because you just never know what can happen from this point on. It’s a whole new ballgame.

by CompUser on Jan 1, 2012 6:17 PM MST up reply actions

remember Tebow had a decent games vs. Patriots and Vikings

I know it’s a terrible defenses, but the kid CAN throw. sometimes.

by Christopher Shaw on Jan 1, 2012 5:50 PM MST reply actions

Do our Broncos deserve the playoffs?

Well let’s see. We finished better than all other AFC teams, so we’re in. Are we better or lucky?

Who cares? We are in and I for one am a fan first and am damn happy about it!!

Any year we beat the Raiders twice, it was a successful season!

Good news is...

Pittsburg beat Cleveland 13-9. We can do this. We can beat the Steelers.

I cant help but shake my head at all the Tebow fenceriders here

Many of the same folks who were crowing about how awesome TT was during the win streak and now throwing him under the bus…How pathetic…The Broncos are in the playoffs; the season continues….If you think the team has no chance next week because Tim is the QB, don’t watch and quit whining….

by keb on Jan 1, 2012 6:02 PM MST reply actions

Who?

Been monitoring all the comments for some time. Don’t see anyone blaming Tebow for this loss. But I appreciate you defending the kid.

Hard to feel a sense of satisfaction after that game. I hope you enjoyed it.

Yo Christian Okoye, you got knocked the "F" out!

I for one will celebrate being AFCW champs

If folks would’ve asked me that preseason, I’d be exctatic… and I am.

That said, Pitt is gonna maul us unless the OFF gets a whole lot less offensive… that was pathetic.

TT also just ensured that we’ll be drafting a QB or getting a solid FA to compete with him…. his leash will be short next year, but he’s earned an offseason to improve and 1st shot at failing, just like KO had this year.

Thanks Phyllis Rivers!

You’re the best.

Ok enuff blogging. Just putting any thought into that sad excuse of a game we just played is not worth it.
