The cliché that had been thrown around (no pun intended) for much of Orton’s career in Denver was often a slap in the face to many Denver fans that had to endure number eight’s tenure. Many pundits and personalities say that fans are stupid, and think they know football, but they really don’t know. I beg to differ. I think there are savvy fans that do understand football and know what they see on the field. They know that a pretty spiral is the only measure of a quarterback. They also know that plays break down and that a QB that tries to make things happen out of nothing is more valuable than a QB that can only run the script. This is because there are 11 guys on the other side of the ball that are paid very well to disrupt the script. This is why on a team that has a young offensive line and young WRs needs a QB that can create. Orton was not the right QB to give Denver the best chance to win. It is the difference between being clutch or not.
This will be sweet validation for fans that already knew what local talk radio media would not admit. In today’s matchup I think if the game is on the line Denver fans have come to know that Mr. Orton is the likely candidate to choke. That is his MO, to fold when the pressure is on. That the QB dressed in red will defiantly give the Broncos the best chance to win today.
