2011 in review

first off let me say i am very happy with this year that said we could be 12-4 next year or 5-11 here are things i liked 1 the front 7 we are a top 10 front 7 led by doom and miller DJ Buckley and M Thomas 2 D Thomas is a year or two away from being a top 5 WR all he has to do is catch the easy pass be more conteident
3 strong K/P game more so at home and knock on wood hofepully d Allen comes back and mccoy 4 coach fox will keep us in games here are my bad things 1 Tebow short and middle game it MUST improve if it does top 3-6 QB if not than a guy that can take u to the playoffs but needs everything to be in sink to work like m sancez t dilfer call me in 2015 my fear is if tebow takes a step back will Elway pull the plug tebow can be a Steve young roger Staubach but it might take 4 years can Elway wait
2 we cannot beat NE anymore and for the next 3 years they are our biggest theat we must Draft and sign FA with a eye toward new enland let me explain u might say j-man i am jumping the gun well i am no disrespect to KC OAK AND SD but KC romeo is a 500 coach and he works better with orton but they will most likely keep cassel and dump orton and i think bowe is gone oak no draft picks and cap room be sarded of Oakland in 2013 or 2014 i see massive change in oakland and they are stuck for a while and SD yes they have rives but norv is a 9-7 coach and no V-Jack and maybe 3 new o-line starters gates is slowing down

3 our needs are in no order a speed rb 1 starting wide out we need death a blocking te or hydbrid a T move clady to rt tebow blindside and sigh a fa T a mlb so Mays can backup a num 2 cb and maybe num 1 cb move champ to S to prolong his career bottom line honlty we can beat anyone right now but New Enland if tebow delops a short to mid passing game that can back the D up and we can create turnovers and run btis of hou offense against NE and no big inj we could go to new Orleans super bowl 47 who would through that a year ago

Good write up Jman I agree with all your points

I do feel we r a few playmakers and some solid depth pick ups away from being a serious contender. The patriots game showed us that we can’t compete with elite teams yet. Hopefully Allen will stay as our def coordinator do we can finally have some continuity !

Good season broncos, and congrats on making it this far.

you represented well, and thanks for telling this dude about punctuation.

that's a good rundown

I think this season showed us that even having a stud at running back isn’t enough.

We NEED a better short-yardage push. Desperately. We need to convert those 3rd-and-2’s through the running game, consistently.

We need bigger and more consistent targets at receiver. We don’t have a possession receiver.

We need quicker decisions from Tebow, which I think means better route design from the wide receivers. They should have multiple stops – if you don’t get the quick throw, go to phase 2 of your route. I’ve seen cases this year of Tebow looking for someone to throw to as the pocket collapses, the announcers saying Tebow is hesitating, while replay shows that all the receivers are still in the middle of running their routes with their back to Tebow.

But above all, we need a linebacker to make both Mays and Woodyard irrelevant, and we need a better safety combination. We might be able to get away with Carter if we pair him with someone better than him.

Good Review

Only thing I would add would be to see McCoy not “draw” from the well too many times in a game. I love Remember the Titans as much as anyone but we need to have more than 6 plays!!! But I would love to see DAllen back and a fun speedy WR!!

good review. a few comments;

have you seen a good lt successfully transition to rt? because i can’t recall that — everyone wants to make good rts into lts. speaking of which, would franklin not make an awesome lt in a lefty-tebow offense? but i don’t think either move happens. if anything franklin goes to lg, but only if he proves he can get his shoulder pads down and we can find a better prospect at rt. i agree we need a returner, a speed guy wideout or change of pace back, and our tight ends were invisible this year. but so much of the o depends on tebow developing. if he proves he is able to accurately read defenses, get the ball out efficiently and consistently hit positions on the field, then the whole offense changes and everyone, especially the o line, will look a whole lot better. defensively we need another corner, we desperately need help at safety, a mlb with range and i’m not sold on irving, and we could really use another pass rushing de — ayers is improving by leaps and bounds, so this may be premature — and o line depth. there! i pretty much listed the whole team! fun year. go broncos.

Good points, cube. A few things to supplement your argument:

1) LTs are constantly going up against the best edge rushers in the league. Switching an RT to LT will cause matchup problems; although Clady hasn’t had his best season, someone like Franklin might struggle even more going 1:1 against, say, Jared Allen
2) RTs typically receive TE help, and aren’t always required to go 1:1 against strong-side edge rushers
3) Franklin is 6’6, almost 6’7 – this doesn’t bode well for a move to G, as Tebow is only 6’3 and needs to be able to look over the tops of the interior O-line.

Great stuff, jman.

I think the only disagreement I have with you is the O-line shuffle, but I shared my perspective on that in the above response to orange cube’s comment.

Good review j-man

I agree with your idea of getting better at NE. Not only that team, but all the “we have a pretty passer” teams. i.e. NE, NO, and GB. Defence wins championship and Bal/SF are proving this (Harbaugh’s brothers have been taught very well).

I just hope Bal beat NE :)

jman - I agree with a lot of what you're posting

and unfortunately one of those is the impatience with tebow part. Tebow could easily take a step back next year especially with a really tough schedule for us and if the broncos don’t address his blindside pass protection somehow.

The nagging feeling I’ve had for awhile is that Tebow can be a Steve Young – and the Broncos may well play the part of Tampa Bay. I really really hope that isn’t the case

but we have come a long way this year.

Thanks for managing to get your views typed. I’m proud of you that you don’t give up when at least once everytime you post someone gives you grief about punctuation or grammar. I am not innocent on this either as I did the same thing once.
