Raiders To Interview Broncos Coordinators McCoy & Allen For Head Coaching Position
Last week, it was learnt that the Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was being interviewed for the Jaguars head coaching position and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen was being interviewed for the Rams vacant position.
Recently we learnt McCoy is now interviewing for Miami's head coaching position. The Broncos worst for first season in the AFC West has drawn a lot of attention to them including their coaches. There are a lot of head coaching positions available this off-season and John Fox has always been the kind of coach that allows his assistants to leave for a better job.
However, more news broke recently by Adam Schefter that both McCoy and Allen are scheduled to interview with the Raiders for the head coaching position after the firing of Hue Jackson.
McCoy has been under attack by a lot of fans for the style of offense he runs and the conservative game plan. He must of caught the attention of the league though creating an offense to use the talents of Tim Tebow.
Allen would be a huge lost for the Broncos after taking a defense that has been historically bad for years and turning it around. Since 2006, the Broncos have gone through Larry Coyer, Jim Bates, Bob Slowik, Mike Nolan, and Wink Martindale . There has been no consistency at the position which hurts a defense trying to improve.

Hope Miami signs McCoy. We retain Allen. Then Sign Hue Jackson as our OC.

Can you find the 'W' in this mess? Tebow can.
It appears that there is no way we're going to make it out of the offseason with our staff intact.
I think it’s really important for this coaching staff to have one more year together and get one real offseason together with the players.
If Allen went to the Raiders, I would be pissed.
at least
La Confora is saying it’s still likely the Raiders hire someone from the Packers’ organization, hopefully he’s telling the truth

Mike Nolan
If Allen leaves Denver, then I say we make a run at bringing Mike Nolan back to Denver. With the coaching staff dissolved in Miami, he is on the market. His defense was every bit as good as Allen’s has been this year, with even less talent.

Nolan runs a 3-4 D
I would not be against switching back to that D though. Von and Dumervil are better fitted as edge rushers in the 3-4 i think.
Just my opinion though

All we would need is a big fat NT to switch back to 3-4

nolans a 3-4 guy. my money would be on Del Rio or Richard Smith to repalce DA.

Would be happy with either, although I prefer Del Rio of those two.
Let’s hope we don’t have to make any changes. Love what Allen is doing for the D.

Allen won't get the Oakland job.
New Oakland GM, McKenzie looks like he is going to pick off the Green Bay coaching tree. Packers assistant coaches Winston Moss, Joe Philbin, Dom Capers and Tom Clements all have been targeted. So i think(hope) that they’re just doing their due diligence
Now if Allen blows them away…things could change. They can have McCoy for all i care
pick Dom Capers PLEASE
he’s the defensive version of Norv Turner, Wade Phillips 2.0, can’t be a head coach, just a coordinator

McKenzie seems to be using this opportunity to study the Broncos
Not sure he has any real interest, but I guess time will tell.

Allen not going anywhere
Especially after Saturdays performance by our D and our lack of adjustments.
One game doesnt do anything.

Is anyone really crazy or desperate enough to take the Raiders job?

The more I think about it, the more I think we would not hurt as bad losing Allen as we think
Thats a lot of thinking going on. Through all of our 1 and done DCs, we always had an offensive minded HC and with Fox we now have a defensive coach who has the capability of hiring another competent defensive coordinator. Losing McCoy without hiring a stud OC may prove to be more costly than losing Allen since there will be more of a void to fill on the offensive side of the ball.

that's ironic
but probably true, losing McCoy would hurt more than losing Allen

I think Allen needs to stay..
If anything the guys seem to love playing for him and he is brilliant…I hope he commits to being in Denver for the long haul and eventually becomes our head coach. He’s young and passionate and is defensive minded…as for OC, I would let McCoy have one more season and try to build the offense even more suited to Tebow…and draft a backup QB who plays like Tebow (an option guy who can throw) so we don’t lose a step if Tebow goes down…
And draft DEFENSE, DEFENSE DEFENSE….MLB, CB, DT, then RT RB WR OL
draft Jaybo Shaw
the Georgia Southern QB, everyone thinks the SEC is so good, but Shaw and the Georgia Southern triple-option attack put up lots of yards and points on an Alabama defense rife with NFL prospects, Georgia Southern>>>LSU

Draft or sign after the draft?
Do you think Shaw is on a lot of draft boards? I haven’t heard his name until just now, but maybe he is the best kept secret in the SEC :-)

he's actually in the Big South
Conference in I-AA,, which was Shannon Sharpe’s collegiate conference so the Broncos have had success drafting therefrom!

Keep Allen. Get rid of McCoy.
And I really like promoting Studesville to OC.
But what the hell do I know?

What the?
They better do their best to keep Allen here, if they know what’s good for them
If we lose Allen how about Lovie Smith? I rather Allen stay, but Smith would be a good backup plan.

dear Dennis and Mike,
The Raiders have 3, count ‘em, 3 draft picks in 2012. Please make a note of it. Also, you will be marked a traitor. Thanks.
PS: If you’re just doing this to get some inside dope on how Raiders org is functioning these days, then I’m all for it.

PS: The fact that McCoy is interviewing for at least two HC positions should
be a sobering note to any fans who think he’s an idiotic OC who held Tebow back. Sorry, but he must have impressed at least some people this year with the creative work he did with a young group.

Maybe the perception of some of the Broncos fans (tied to Tebow adoration)
is NOT what the NFL feels about Mike McCoy. Maybe there are problems other than Mike McCoy. Perhaps the change in offense to fit Tebow caught some eyes of other teams. The problem may have been in the execution of the offensive plan NOT the plan or play calling. What a nove idea! Maybe it was the players that didn’t execute? (reads the QB that still has some improvements to work on)
Gollygee Gosh Darn It Guys!!!
What’s up with everyone bashing McCoy? I for one want him back next year. He, like the rest of the team, showed a lot of promise while making some mistakes in the process. I saw some play calls that I hated…“Once more into the pile boys! Same call three downs in a row! CHARGE!!!” I also saw some great playcalling with TERRIBLE execution by our team (missed open receivers, dropped balls, wrong routes, etc). Then there were great plays that were executed perfectly. I like that he is down on the field and not up in the booth like some OC’s too…he stays in touch with Tebow, McGahee, and the receivers. I think they have strong relationships that the Broncos can build on next year. Continuity guys…don’t underestimate it.

My big beef with McCoy is his unwillingness to adjust quickly enough....
if at all. Sticking with the option runs until halftime was a prime example. We ran better out of the Pro set, but he insisted on rehashing the option runs over and over. Predictability is the other issue he has.
That said, he gets a pass from me. If he gets a better job, I won’t be crushed, but he has growing to do just like the rest of this young team.
I hope DA stays, and we build a nasty D for him to coach.
W-L record doesn't matter to me.... I just want to see a team on the rise at the end of the year!
