Elway talked a lot to Adam Gase during the season, but didn’t talk directly to Tebow because he didn’t want “too many voices” in Tebow’s head during the year.
Respect is not given it is earned dog gonit...and they don't respect us...nobody respects us... you know what you got to do in that situation? TAKE IT!!!!!

of course
that’s exactly how Elway appertained to greatness, he took lumps against the G-Men, Redskins and Niners and was better for it!

My thoughts exactly. Xanders opinions are the equivalent of a forwarded email containing Elway’s and Fox’s take on things. Tempted to change EFX to EF(x-ish)…oh Brian Brian Brian

I dont really think he does
I think he’s more of a yes man and Elway is the real GM behind the scenes, with Foxy putting in input on the defense side of drafting

But I think he does more of the dirty work of the GM, while Elway and Fox have much more input on drafting.

Yeah that struck me as weird
“Bandwagons” are typically stereotyped as bad things aren’t they? If someone told me I was on the Broncos bandwagon then there is a chance I would punch them in the face. According to John I’d be wrong to do that…James Harrison was right…I don’t understand this game anymore either. :-P

Well if we’re still looking for pass rush, I like Dont’a Hightower out of Alabama…he plays ILB and can move to the DE position to pass rush

Ah, point taken…if Denver can’t get a MLB or DT of good value at their position in the first round, maybe they could take Mark Barron…there’s a lot of options right now

The Mike LB isn't the key to pass rush
although the middle of the defense is the place to focus. A good penetrating 3-tech DT is what the Broncos need to disrupt the pocket from the middle. We already have good outside pass rushers.

The 2012 Denver Broncos...
… now with 25% more penetration up the middle.
by Tezcatlipoca on Jan 16, 2012 2:33 PM MST up reply actions
Absolutely. The two biggest deficiencies on our D, even over our need at CB and FS.
Too many runs up the middle that found Mays out of position, unable to make a play. And the teams began to figure out how to let our rushers (Doom and Miller) go wide and have the QB step up, we need that penetration, that push up the middle. It will make Doom and Miller look better not to mention our defensive backfield, push up the middle, push up the middle…let’s all chant together please…“push up the middle”.

1st Round LT??
I am thinking best LT available at 25 and then move Orlando to Guard and have Beadles as a back up T/G. Thoughts?
LT is Clady we're set there
Franklin is RT but yeah he would make a better guard. I suppose it depends on how confident the coaches are in their ability to make a good RT out of him.
As the ancient Tibetan Philosophy states "Don't start none, won't be none!"
by MrFNSunshine on Jan 16, 2012 1:44 PM MST up reply actions
Meant College LT
Would move new guy to RT. Look at good teams in league. They have been emphasizing edge rushers from both sides and stockpiling good pass protecting tackles to counter rush from both edges. Depends on what else is available at 25, but it may be worth looking into.
100% agree
And it is more necessary for us because Tebow is lefthanded and that is his blindside
I thought Franklin did well for a rookie. You could see his footwork in pass protection improve as the year went
on, he looks very athletic for a guy his size. It’s harder to find a tackle than it is a guard. Keep him there I say, I think we have a keeper, even, dare I say… a pro-bowler at some point in time at RT.

Franklin’s too tall to be a guard. At 6’7" Tebow wouldnt be able to see over him. And its not that easy to get someone to switch from LT to RT. Thats like asking a right handed batter to learn to bat left handed

Actually virtually every college o-line forces players to play at multiple positions
Franklin mostly played at LG in college, RT for part of a year, LT as a senior. Clady is probably too old to change positions. Kuper definitely. But anyone else – Beadles, Franklin, etc is pretty easy to switch them.

after asked if he would be on the field to help Tebow……Naw I’m just going to yell at him from my office window! LOVED IT
I for one, hoping EFX stay the course and not spend a lot of money on FA’s….(like shanahan). Let’s build thru the draft.

Yeah, the NFL isn't MLB.
There’s a hard cap and pretty much every team has the money to use that space. The Broncos need help at FS, SS, CB, MLB, DT, OT, OG, RB, WR, and TE. There’s only so many draft picks. Fill half with the draft and pick up FAs to cover the rest.
