Need Opinions on Mike Nolan

Hey Bronco fans...Saints fan here. First off, sorry for what happened to you, and we can definitely relate. Now: with Gregg Williams leaving New Orleans, we need a new defensive coordinator. The name "Mike Nolan" is being spoken pretty loudly, so I was wanting to know Denver fans' thoughts on how he did in his stint there--and especially why he was forced out after a single season.

Sharp guy .

Almost everyone here liked him . He knew how to make in game adjustments well . He was not afraid to bring the heat on opposing QBs when needed to .

As good as it gets in my opinion. BUT there could be serious growing pains changing from 4-3 to 3-4. Additionally…. with the offense in NO… it will be difficult to really have a strong defense there no matter who you bring in. So as long as they don’t get crazy and promote the oline coach to DC… you shouldn’t worry too much at all.

Good coordinator. Miami has a good defense but really were not that good on offense.

If it were me I’d steal the LB coach from the Packers or Giants though. I’d also much rather have Spagnuolo than Nolan.

Seriously…if you guys get him you will be very happy. He was able to help us transition to the 3-4 in one year and had us doing fantastic until McD yanked with his play-calling.

Mike Nolan is a great coordinator but it is not clear if that is what he really wants to do, or what his motives are.

Too bad McDummy had to mess with the defensive playcalling after the 6-0 run. It was so petty how he ran off Nolan. God I hate McD

Great Coordinator but the players you have dont really fit the scheme he runs.

You guys have pretty strictly 4-3 personnel so a transition would be difficult.

On a different note, I dont like the direction your team went with the D-line overhaul. McCray, Hargrove, and Ayodele were not as strong or as big, but they were quick and disruptive. I think your D suffered a bit because I liked your pass rush better before.

If you do switch to a 3-4, Ellis, Jordan, and Franklin should fit fine. Will Smith looks more like a 4-3 DE to me. Your LB’s dont really fit the 3-4 mold either. Its tough, I would hope for a 4-3 coach if I was a Saints fan.
