Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

At the start of the third quarter, Tebow tore cartilage on his first rib where it attaches to his sternum, bruised his lung and had fluid buildup in the plural space of his chest, according to an NFL source.

The injuries came as the result of a hit in the pocket when Tebow was pressured after throwing a pass. Even so, he was determined to finish the game with his teammates regardless of the score.

The Patriots defeated the Broncos 45-10.

Because of the severe pain, Tebow had trouble sleeping over the weekend, then spent Monday undergoing an MRI on his chest to determine the extent of the damage. He has been undergoing rehab throughout this week.

I have a Man Crush on that guy.

How can you not love the way he plays.

Exactly.

I think a lot of players would have left the game under the circumstances. Tebow’s got such heart.

Here's the bigger problem...

This is going to continue each and every game. With his Peyton Hillis style, he’s gonna get hurt, and perhaps badly! At some point he’ll have to realize that running in the NFL is for RB’s, and passing is for QBs. I love his spirit, but I fear his injuries ahead.

well, there goes that theory....back to the drawing board

Von Miller and Dumervil are basically racing to see who's first to the QB...Love this feeling!!!

Right...

but let’s say this was a Week 8 injury… Do you let him run the option and scramble in Week 9? If you don’t…. do you let him sit in the pocket where he needs 9 seconds to make up his mind? Bring in the back up?

Let’s be real.. his rushing ability is a significant part of his game, because teams have to defend it… even if he isnt running. But if they know he’s hurt and is trying to avoid contact… he loses that advantage and doesn’t have the skill set to make up for it in other areas. (obviously that can change in 8 months with enough work in the offseason)

No idea.

It’s up too the coaching staff. Tebow would play, he’s a tough cookie. He has a high pain tolerance. Played that entire 2nd half with it.

by Scotty Payne on Jan 18, 2012 3:01 PM MST up reply actions

Thats because ignorance is bliss.

he didn’t know he had a bruised lung and fluid in his chest. The reports I’m hearing is that if we had won, Quinn would have started against Baltimore.

?

So you’re saying torn cartilage, bruised lung and fluid build up feels like a charlie horse? You’re telling me that if all that happened to you, you wouldn’t think right away, “I need to go to the hospital right now”? This kid knew there was something very wrong, but he toughed it out. Something tells me he would not have sat out the second half of the NFC Conference championship last year.

???

From what I’m reading… dude couldn’t sleep the night after the game… then got checked out the next day or something. If he was in as much pain as you claim, why would he wait another day to find out what exactly what was wrong? He’s an NFL star…. even if they didnt have what they needed at Gillette…what hospital or doctor wouldn’t see him at any time in the night?

by Triz06 on Jan 19, 2012 6:56 AM MST up reply actions

so it does feel like a charlie horse...silly Tebow it's more serious

MRI’s are rarely done on the spot. Plenty of players are sent in for MRI’s the day after. Even when it’s expected to be serious injuries. This happens throughout the NFL. I “claim” he was in so much pain because “dude couldn’t sleep the night after the game”. I’m certain he knew something was wrong during the game. You questioning his toughness is laughable. If you couldn’t see that it was him showing leadership by not leaving his team behind during a blowout, then take the hater shades off. Give the kid credit for something 90% of QB’s wouldn’t have done.

We're having 2 different conversations....

I think you’re missing my point. This game was a playoff game that could be the last game of the season. So of course ppl are leaving it on the field. I applaud him for his effort. Not trying to take anything away or say he isnt tough. You’re making an argument on a topic that we both agree on.

But.. as I stated.. if it was a Week 8 game… there is still a lot of football to play. So in Week 9… do you sit and try to heal… or play, but risk further injury and being gone for a longer period of time.

But our running plays involve Tim… so that won’t help much And Tim holds on to the ball when we pass.. so even when we have good protection at first.. it eventually breaks down and he still takes hits.

haha no problem

guess I took your message the wrong way. And now that you explained it, it makes more sense to me. My bad.

He has more guts and heart in his toenail clippings than I have in my entire being, and that is not a knock on me! What a stud. Stupid Wilfork.

Wow! Great clip. Thanks for the link.

The only time you should be looking down on someone is if you are trying to help them up, unless you are Von Miller!
