Denver Broncos' Tim Tebow played through injuries vs. New England Patriots, source says
At the start of the third quarter, Tebow tore cartilage on his first rib where it attaches to his sternum, bruised his lung and had fluid buildup in the plural space of his chest, according to an NFL source.

Tough kid
Glad it wasn’t more serious.

No surprise...
The kid is tough and we heard no excuses from him. Pretty typical!

Haha...one of the few players I would put on a rugby team....he would actually be a very good rugby player....the option is basically a rugby play....and his running abilty would be awesome!

a few of my fellow Mormon elders played rugby with me and it is a fun game, I just wish the ball could be advanced forward, guess that’s the American football instilled in my brain :)

His injuries are on our OL! They were so awful against the Pats I saw them give up blocks toward the end of the game.
Tebow would never do this but someone needs to call out the O line on this one!
I hope they can convince Clady to move to RT to cover Tebow's blindside

John Fox should
lots of my friends/teammates on the Manti High School (Utah) football team were the linemen and they hated it when our coach berated them, it’s almost like your mom saying “I’m so disappointed in you.”

While several of his teammates were faking injuries to slow down the Pats offense or because they didn’t want to play anymore in the cold, this kid does the opposite just so he can finish out a blowout loss arm and arm with his teammates.
That there is Leadership.
It’s alarming that some of you don’t want to give this guy a single full off-season as the starter to see if he can improve. It certainly calls into question your level of common sense and your IQ.
Tim Tebow is Denver's 2012 starting QB. I'm not even kind of sorry that offends some of you (including you Elway).

Thank you Broncos for such a fantastic year! Thank you for coming together as a TEAM! Thank you for giving us a reason to believe again! I love you guys!!!
Thanks McG
I just hope that there are realistic expectations for the improvements that Tim needs to make. Tim was by no means the only second or third year QB or player to struggle this year. No off season seemed to hurt Freeman, McCoy, Bradford and probably some older Qbs like Ryan, Flaco and Sanchez who did not improve as much as they should have. Tim and company were not rookies but they were not full blown second year guys either. I expect improvement but I don’t expect him to suddenly play consistently like a HOF next year, though there might be flashes.
Sanchez was never that good to begin with

I’m hopeful we have big boys in the front office that take the intelligent long view on Tebow.
The leaks in preseason told me we have a BS front office run by chatty morons.
Elway’s press conference the other day told me the opposite tail. That we have a front office run by professionals that make common sense decisions.
I think our front office improved in 2011 like our team did. Or so I hope.
Lets revisit this front office theory of mine after FA and the draft.

Hit in the Pocket?
Maybe there’s some validity to what Tebow says in that it’s better to see the hit coming if you dash outside the pocket, than stay in the pocket and get whacked.
The way its worded, sounds like it came on a late hit after he had thrown the ball.
2011 was just the tip

I distinctly recall the play he got injured on
It was 3rd and Long. Tebow dropped back and threw it incomplete as he was drilled. He got back up holding his shoulder pad near his neck and jogged off the field. He then flexed his hand in and out and then regrasped his shoulder pad. I told my wife, “I think Tebow’s hurt!”
The hit I recall was a bit late, but wasn’t extremely late. I still wanted a flag though!
If this were the championship game and that was Cutler, we’d be talking about a different story with his injury though!

...like we're surprised.
We know how tough Tebow is… selling HOF safeties on the option… then stiff arming off defensive-linesmen. This just validates our suspicions. And it’s much appreciated Tim, mate keep working as hard as you ever have.
When it happened my first fear was a broken collar bone and a big part of this major offseason was down the drain.
Tim, go to Jacksonville or the Philippines or where ever you want. Relax, recharge and get healthy. Come back with a furry. (Bradfather, please post the picture of Tim on the sideline after he ran in the TD against Pitt. Holy wrath is what comes to mind.)

this injury came from a hit in the pocket.
Not from running and making plays. For those who say he won’t hold up for a season using his legs I say he won’t hold up hanging in the pocket behind an offensive line that is terrible at pass protection.

getting an All-Pro is a good way to start
although Nicks and Jahri Evans did have trouble against San Francisco, I watched the replay last night, dang that 49ers line got lots of push

His concussion in college came when he was in the pocket as well,
He has some more minor injuries while running the ball. He never missed a game at UF though he probably should have missed the LSU game after the concussion.
Most of the stuff Ive been reading has been saying "look, Tim Tebow will get hurt playing the way he does".
He took this shot in the pocket. His other NFL injury was being sandwiched between 2 defenders. The only injury he has ever sustained before that was in college, a concussion when…in the pocket.. he was knocked down and hit his head on another player I recall. 3 career injuries. 2 of them from playing like a “real quarterback”, standing tall in the pocket. Is there any other precedent for mobile QBs being more susceptible to injury? Michael Vick maybe.. but he is absolutely unique and is a totally different runner than Tebow. I dont buy the injury stuff. Having said that, dude is tough. Ive had bruised ribs before and that was debilitating enough. Hard to breathe and sleep and do pretty much anything. This is way worse.
2011 was just the tip
They say the cool is all over me..
There isn't a precedent. It seems like mobile QBs get hurt more because there are so few of them
and they are generally smaller (like Vick) so more susceptible to injury. there really isn’t enough evidence to prove that mobile QBs get hurt more than pocket QBs.
