Ugh

That totally stinks. As bad a piece of news as we could get this offseason.

ha, when I wrote that this morning, i was thinking they were taking Dennis Allen, which would have been far worse in my opinion. Still, McCoy and Tebow seem to have a good relationship, and it would hurt to lost McCoy right now and have to start over again.

Allen is in play for the HC in Oakland and possibly the Colts. So, the chances of him leaving as well are quite high.

It is funny how the NFL teams are going with YOUNG and up and coming candidates for HC positions. BUT the Broncos went with the OLD person for HC….but after McD I guess that was a given.

No pleasing some people

Doubled our wins from last year, got a playoff berth, 1st playoff win since 2005,…

I was just making an observation…

And yeah we made the playoffs with 10000000000 lucky breaks non thanks to the coaching staff

Your 1st comment is certainly whining

Then you go on about how the Broncos caught a million lucky breaks. Well, dont you think they played well enough to take advantage of those lucky breaks? Unlike 2010 when they would be down 3 or 4 scores in the 4th, then the game was so out of hand it wouldnt have mattered. Maybe the Broncos can fix all those lucky wins by building a time machine and hiring a YOUNG guy last year instead of an OLD guy like everyone else.

While Im not thrilled with McCoy as our OC

I was hoping he would stay for Tebow’s benefit. He seems like a hot commodity. The Jags interviewed him, the Raiders, the Colts, and now the Phins. Thats good, because I hate the Pats. All the best to McCoy should he leave

Enough with the babble above

If Dennis Allen goes to Oakland (and he really wants to) then the defense takes a big hit, why, because he brought young ideas to combat the young passing game. Plus IMO he was our next HC.
If Mike McCoy goes to Miami, this afternoon, then the offense takes a bigger hit. Why, because it will be next to impossible to find a qualified OC who wants to run a college read-option offense. Into the college ranks for some newbie who does not care.
Mr. John Elway, if you think last year was tough on finding quality coordinators, LOL in this year.

Its all speculation on their part

He also interviewed for the Rams HC spot. If he wanted out, then he would be looking to DC somewhere else, like Nolan back in 09. Im willing to bet that 99.9% of coordinators jump at the opportunity to be a HC, because its a promotion.

What do you think got McCoy into contention as a head coach?

Do you really think McCoy would be looking at these coaching jobs without his foray into option football? Why wouldn’t another assistant want the same opportunity to creatively express his talents?

by Zorando on Jan 20, 2012 2:23 PM MST up reply actions

Disappointing

I think McCoy in year 2 of the Tebow project would be just as much improvement for him as it would Tebow. I do hope they just promote Adam Gase to OC and hire a new QB coach, as some continuity on the offensive coaching staff would be really important.

Adam Gase OC? is there any foundation for this? We need an 'offensive' play caller.

If McCoy goes to Miami...

we need to go after an OC that will Tebow in his offense not the other way around. I love Tebow. I think he can suceed here, but he needs a OC that trusts him to complete the little passes. The dump offs. Tebow would be good in the west coast offense IMO. Heavy on the run, alot of play-action roll-outs to his left. Defenses against us always had a spy on Tebow. That should open up a reciever or a running lane somewhere. McCoy would never trust Tebow to pass.

At the same time Tebow has to PUT trust into any OC that comes in. He needs to hit the under back/tightend, instead of hitting the homerun ball all the time.

As far as Allen goes…that could be worse then losing Dawkins. We need some steadiness on that side of the line. 7 DC in 7 years. At the same time, with Doom and Miller, are we better suited for the 3-4…I know we can’t go back, but Miller and Doom are perfect 3-4 OLB’s. Add in the amount of hugh DT/NT coming out this year, we could make the switch.

A West coast offense might suit him well but would Fox bring in an OC like that? Not sure he would since he doesn't seem to use that kind of offense much.

My guess is that they’d promote from within which would promote the oft preached continuity but might not be the best thing for Tebow.

Tim Tebow wears 3WM and drinks Tuscan whole milk.

I doubt Allen leaves

He’s barely in his 1st year as a DC. Not experienced enough yet. I bet the Raiders pull someone from the Pack

Congrats to Allen n McCoy

MANY NFL pros see what many here maybe missing….look at what they had and what they did…again…just look at the KC game to see what they were concerned about as they called plays…three thats 3 teams didnt want McCoy for no good reason…he calls Fox’s gameplan to the limits of the players and matchups…thats all about players not one…Im not defending him per se, just perspective…as fans we always want them to go for it! We’re fans! I give Fox the credit for hiring both and they delivered as best they could without and offseason toadpat to players and I love that…do what works for the players talents in this type of year and make the best of what you have…Elway will demand more moving forward and Fox has already called for better talent…cant wait to see the moves they make…
