Denver Mock
This was much more difficult than I expected. This draft class appears to have the talent to produce starters from all of Denver’s picks. I think Denver with Elway in charge of football operations will seek to build primarily through the draft from this point forward vice breaking the bank on high priced free agent acquisitions.
That said, there are multiple improvements to be made and SOME free agent signings are necessary . There are also some players who should be dismissed/cut/waived/traded/etc. prior to the draft. I will include here a number of "cuts" equal to Denver’s free agent signings (3) + draft choices (8; following one MOCK trade) + undrafted rookie free agents who make the squad (2).
This is not a position for position replacement; just a list of men I see that Denver can afford to lose and a group that they would benefit from adding. Also it is just a mock, fantasy in other words. No one will agree on these moves, but I think most Bronco fans can see the improvement the team would reap were this fantasy to become a reality. Enjoy.
SUBTRACTIONS:
D’Andre Goodwin
ADDITIONS:
Free Agent Signings:
I think Denver will look at safety in free agency as this is one of the weaker positions in the coming draft in my opinion. I live in the D.C. area and having seen a lot of Redskins games from FedEx Field (including Denver’s 2009 loss) I think LaRon Landry would be a nice addition. Another “homer pick” would be to sign CB Ladarius Webb from Baltimore. A nice stabilizer/leader for the linebacking corps would be Barrett Ruud. These are not gargantuan contracts nor great newsmakers, but solid additions at positions of need.
DRAFT:
25th selection: Michael Brockers, DT, 6-5, 300lbs from LSU
57th selection: Josh Norman, CB, 6-1, 200lbs from Coastal Carolina
89th selection: Alameda Ta’amu, DT, 6-3, 348lbs Washington
120th selection: Audie Cole, ILB, 6-4, 245lbs North Carolina State
129th selection (from the Rams): Trade this pick to Cincinnati for the 148th and 159th choices.
148th selection: Brandon Brooks, OG, 6-5, 343lbs Miami of Ohio
152nd selection: Brian Quick, WR, 6-5, 220lbs Appalachian State
159th selection: Matt Conrath, DE, 6-7, 280lbs Virginia
215th selection: Marc Tyler, RB, 5-10, 222lbs USC
RookieFA:
Josh Chischester, TE, 6-7, 250lbs Louisville
Emil Igwenagu, FB, 6-2, 245lbs UMass

Don't think EFX give up on Mohammed after 1 year.
Mike will get another chance. Also, DAvid Burton should get another shot next year. He jumped over Moore when Dawkins went down. Plus he’s a good ST player.
yeah..
no way the Brass gives up on Mohammed yet, they were pretty high on him this year, and w/ a training camp under his belt he could find his niche. As far as early DT, I dont think Foxy finds that very appealing, he seems to be of the thinking that he can make a servicable DT out of latter rounders, and early rounds are for skill players. Makes sense to me any way.

I think everyone wants Landry
I think all Bronco fans want Landry. I fear that his services might be in high demand. And, given the community’s general belief that Bowelen (my spelling) is cash poor, I wonder if we’ll ever be the high bidder for anything.
I agree with most of your subtractions. I think I’d rather have Bruton than Moore, but I doubt that will happen. I don’t know if Goodman needs to be shown the door as much as demoted.
I’m not a huge fan of your mock. I doubt Brooks will last that long. You’ve obviously seen the reports out of the Shrine Game. I didn’t hear a single negative thing. Just a lot of draftniks drooling.
Truth shall be known.

I really hope moore pans out
it seems like he went into a shell after he was criticized for the hit in the Bills preseason game. From his draft day interviews he seems like a coachable guy. Hopefully he will benefit from training camp
If Tebowmania hasn't fixed some of those cash flow problems...
…we have a major issue. Anyone with a half a brain can turn profit on the phenomenon that is TT.
I don't know enough about NFL revenue sharing.
I’m not sure how Tebowmania would affect Bronco revenues.
My understanding is that gate and concessions aren’t shared. But Mile High always sells out. It has for years, so Tebow wouldn’t affect that.
I think jersey and merchandise sales are divided equally across the league. So Tebow benefits everyone, not just Bowlen.
TV revenues are definitely split up equally – aside from local stuff like the John Elway Show.
I think it’d be one thing if Denver wasn’t already selling out or if there wasn’t already local media saturation, but Bronco Country is Bronco Country. Always has been; always will be.
I think Tebow could mean additional revenues to a less successful franchise, like the Jaguars. Because their gate is subpar and there might not be as much media saturation. But I believe the only way the Broncos can increase their revenues vis-a-vis the rest of the league would be to raise ticket prices and concessions. Maybe he’ll do that next season.
Truth shall be known.

Hmm - thanks for the detail in revenue sharing.
I wasn’t aware of some of these points. I assumed that team jerseys and swag would benefit the team at a higher rate than it does the league. That’s unfortunate, I think that would be the most “fair” way to go about it.
I like the first 4 picks. I'm not sure drafting the guy in rd 4 who couldn't beat out Irving in college who couldn't beat out Mays in the Pros is the best idea but who knows :)
Love the DT pick ups and the CB pick up. Those DTs will greatly help.
I don’t think Mohammed, Bruton or Goodman will be cut. I also think Goodwin will go back on the practice squad.
Mohammed adds good depth and I don’t think Fox will bail on him after one season. Bruton is a special teams ace and that alone plus depth will probably give him a spot. Goodman while not playing as well his first year with us will keep the #2 spot with the belief that a better pass rush up the middle and off the edges will not see him get burned as much.
Tim Tebow wears 3WM and drinks Tuscan whole milk.
Taamu will go in the mid 2nd and Quick will be gone by the end of the 3rd
But I really like those guys and Norman could be had in the 3rd so just flip the Taamu and Norman pick and we get most of the guys. Need a more talented RB though

Keep Bruton
Each of the 53 spots has a role to fill, David’s is as special teamer. He is a C level safety, but a B+ caliber ST player.
That's a very optimistic draft - I love it!
If we get Brockers, Ta’amu, Cole, Quick, AND Tyler that would probably be our best draft since 1983.
I have no idea who Josh Norman is.

CB out of Coastal Carolina...Played in the Shrine game and was a buzz in practice there.
Win, lose or draw, we are the Denver Broncos! 13-3 Baby!!! Until we ain't!
Not sure I agree
I may agree with several of your subtractions for our final 53, but we go into camp with a 90 man roster (I think). That said I expect we will resign many of our FA even if they have little chance of making the final 53 next season.
As for the draft, based on some of the stuff I have been reading so far, it seems many of the guys you choose will be gone by the time we choose. I have seen some sites that list Brockers as a top 10 pick. I read a couple blogs about the shrine game which said the coastal CB may be a 1st rounder depending on his combine numbers. And so on.
I love the mock draft stuff, and I hope we come up with some of these guys. I like the position focus for sure. Should be a defensive draft for us (maybe we get what we have been expecting for three years!).
Where is the blue blazes did you get all those picks from? Last I heard we have 7 with no 6th....

I would hold on to Tony Hills
Judging from what was written about him in Pittsburgh, it seems he has some potential.
2nd round is WAY too high for Norman
He might have been the buzz in practice but he was burned bad in the game. Remember these players in the E/W Shrine Bowl were lower level players (the better ones went to the Senior Bowl) and he was burned twice badly by them.
Kansas Bob
Very raw talent from a small school. Can't expect miracles from him, but if he's there in the late 5th maybe.
