Around SBN: Following UFC 146 Loss, Jason 'Mayhem' Miller 'Done' in UFC

Dennis Allen Leaving not much of a loss

Although Dennis Allen improved the Broncos defense his defensive scheme failed miserably against the Patriots in a 45 to 10 route. The Broncos only had an 8-8 record last regular season (9-9 in the playoffs) which was the same as the Raiders, and San Diego.

Star-divide

Allen did improve the Broncos from last in team defense to 20th. Allen is not likely to lead the Raiders back to playoffs mostly because Denver and San Diego will probably have a two team competition for the division next year.

In terms of new Defensive Coordinator Richard Smith linebackers coach who was a Defensive Coordinator in Houston is available. Larry Coyer is also available but is in semi retirement. Elway and Xanders can get a list of qualified coordinators together if the team decides to go external.

I'm starting to believe that Jack Del Rio from Jacksonville might be a good choice for Defensive Coordinator. Since the Broncos are interested in a lot of Corner Backs, and Defensive lineman in the draft--we need the best Coordinator just to get back in the playoffs next season.

Allen is probably going to find the same problems that Hue Jackson did last year, and without many draft picks

left from the Carson Palmer trade--he is not going to have much to work with.

I look forward to the Broncos hopefully beating the Raiders twice next season to show Allen what the

AFC west is really all about.

It might not be just Allen.

He could take some quality people with him.

That is a worry.

I don’t think he will though. I think he will keep a lot of the staff that’s in place there. It would help though if we promote from within our organization so they will stay. Give it to Smith and put Burns as LB coach.

The biggest risk is probably Clancy Barone

Tight end coach. Very well respected throughout the league and our two TE draftees last year are his project.

He wouldn't want to leave his projects then would he?

I love Smith as a LBer coach, as a DC not so much. His defenses in Houston were terrible.

He seems like another Wink as a DC. No thanks. Please get Del Rio in here!

Is JDR more likely to join the Broncos

and his ex-head coach or the Ravens, his ex-team with an HC that he has never worked for?

Hear Hear

This loss isnt as devastating as the Nolan loss was. Nolan’s D>Allen’s D by a lot. And I think the AFC West will be between the Broncos and Chiefs next year.

The only thing that is disheartening is that the players get acquainted with one and he leaves.

The Denver Broncos will be hiring their 7th defensive coordinator in 7 years. That doesn’t help unify the defense whatsoever and cripples it an extent, no matter who they replace him with. But, that’s the breaks and finding a guy like Dick LeBeau who JUST wants to run a defense is tough especially when young ass’ts are brought in with high asperations of their careers.

Now, the task at hand is to replace him with someone with like talent and defensive philosophies. Since the league has 20 teams that run the 4/3 baseline defense tehre are quite a few assistants around the league that EFX can work with.

NFL teams that use the 4–3 defense as of 2011 include the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, and Baltimore Ravens. The Broncos returned to the 4-3 with the hiring of John Fox as head coach. The Patriots returned to the 4-3 in the 2011 NFL Season. Although the Ravens occasionally use a 3-4, a 4-3 is used in most circumstances

So, I feel the Denver Broncos will get the right man for the job, and life goes on like it did before. This team is very yound and had to be rebuilt at nearly every position and it will take time to develop these players into contenders. A mixture of free agents and draft picks done smartly is the ticket and the way to go. I think the Broncos are headed in that direction, but patience and time will be accepted in this process…

Win, lose or draw, we are the Denver Broncos! 13-3 Baby!!! Until we ain't!

He's the head of the Raiders now....

….which is another way of saying I don’t like him and I hope he fails spectacularly. I reserve the right to change my mind about him after he is no longer a Raider.
