Man it bums me out that we won't know who our DC is for another week or more.
Hopefully Fox worked out a little verbal deal with Del Rio in his Hotel room and that way we don’t have to worry about waiting.

why would we want Del Rio unless he doesn't want to HC again?
Do we want 8 DCs in 8 years?
why would we have 8 in 8 years? Look at Nolan. Good DC mediocre HC. Has he been offered a HC job or even interviewed for any since SF?
Look at Capers. Decent DC (except for last year) mediocre HC. Has anyone been knocking down his door? When Norv Turner gets fired it will be the same thing. He’ll run a fantastic offense as an OC somewhere but it will be a while before he gets a chance at another HC gig.
We are more likely to lose our next DC to a HC position if we hire a talented up and coming coordinator than if we hire Del Rio who is a mediocre HC but a great OC. Teams will know what they are getting with him so they will be less likely to want him as HC of their team.

I found this to be a pretty interesting fact
“The Broncos were among the league leaders in starts by rookies and playing time by rookies in 2011. Led by offensive tackle Orlando Franklin (16 regular-season starts) and outside linebacker Von Miller (15), the Broncos’ total of 52 starts by rookies ranked second in the league — behind the Cleveland Browns’ 66. The Broncos were the only team among the league’s top 10 in rookie starts that made the playoffs.”
Two things I get from this statement:
1) Broncos had a great draft and UDFA class last year and
2) Teams who make the playoffs don’t start rookies right out of the gate but allow them to develop. This means we should be patient with players like Carter, Moore, and Irving and not give up on them after one season because they weren’t 16 game starters.

Yep, I truly believe Carter will be a quality S for us for years to come.
I also think Julius and Green definitely have the chance to be play makers at the TE position.
I even think Irving can develop into a decent MLB although I’m not sure I would give the position to him outright next year (I still want to bring in a FA or draft a MLB).
The only one I’m concerned about truly is Rahim Moore. The guys seems like he has the tools (although a bit slow) but mentally I’m not sure if he has what it takes. He seems too emotional for the position and that affects his play. Hopefully he’ll get it together this offseason.

So you have faith in the 3 guys that essentially didn't play...
….but lost faith in the guy (Moore) that played? I’m guessing if the 2 TEs and Irving were put in before they were ready (like Moore), you wouldn’t have faith in them either. Or another way to look at it…those 2 TEs couldn’t even beat out our mediocre starting TEs and Irving couldn’t beat out our worse starter on offense or defense. My point is that if you give passes to the 2 TEs and Irving, you should probably give Moore a flyer on this year as well.
"Pain don't hurt" - Swayze (Road House) -- We miss you man!
my lack of faith in moore comes from the fact that he did play and regressed due to his emotional state (most likely)
I don’t have faith that Irving will be a starter but I have faith he’ll improve and be quality depth until he proves otherwise.
I think the TEs did develop. Julius was great in camp and decent in preseason but then got hurt while Green developed very nicely as a blocker and has the receiving pedigree to be very good. The fact that those guys weren’t involved more was probably more due to play calling, scheme and Tebow.

Secondary Viking fan here
and believe me their fans have thought about the trade down factor. If St. Louis doesn’t do it they will. Heck even if SL trades down for someone to get G3, there might still be enough incentive for Dallas to move up for Caiborne now that Kirkpatrick is a pothead.
