McCarthy Released: Iwuh Signed
With just under five days until the Denver Broncos face the Pittsburgh Steelers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High the Broncos have released safety Kyle McCarthy and replaced him by signing linebacker Brian Iwuh.
A former Colorado Buffalo, Iwuh most recently played for the Chicago Bears, but was released on November 29th, 2011 just two weeks before the Bears faced off against the Broncos. Iwuh played in ten games this season for Chicago recording six tackles.
In 2010 Iwuh played in 16 games for the Bears (mostly on special teams), but started one game at linebacker recording one sack; Iwuh had two forced fumbles and fifteen tackles on the season.
That last line is most telling, Denver is bringing in a special teams assassin who emphasis on forcing fumbles and solo tackles. The former Buffalo is 27-years old, 6'0" and 235 lbs. he entered the NFL as an unsigned rookie free agent for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Simply put, Kyle was whiffing on too many tackles, specifically on returns. This is a move that had to be made, though I know nothing of Iwuh.
I was thinking the same thing.
Don’t see much about him.

Iwuh
He was apparently very good. Chicago had roster math problems, and apparently only intended to release him temporarily. He was Chicago’s leading tackler on special teams.
That's good
Always love more linebacker.

If he was good on that special teams
then you the dude can ball.

They've lost a few people today...
Win, lose or draw, we are the Denver Broncos! 13-3 Baby!!! Until we ain't!
I know Iwuh has skills
the Bear I really covet is Israel Idonije, even though he had some cheapies on Tebow, he is a monster and could only bolster our already strong defense

Was not very good for the Bears
he fell behind the depth chart and the Bears are weak at depth at the position. Okay special teams guy but has never transpired into a player. Had the opportunity to win the LB job but counldn’t beat out Nick Roach who is average at best.
Hoping that Peppers does the belt dance over Rodgers crumpled on the turf
That's one way to confuse Pitt.
Let’s just shuffle our roster so they have no idea who to plan for, and so we have a bunch of guys who don’t know the CRAPPY game plans we have worked on, so maybe they will miraculously play with some ethereal “Good playbook.”
I keed, I keed. I’m just happy to see the staff shaking things up and trying to make improvements. Seems a little too late, though….. It’s been so long since we’ve been in the playoffs, I forget. Is it common for teams to do this kind of shuffle before the playiffs? Haha…. that was a typo but I’m gonna leave it, because that’s what they are for Denver.

I think it more for depth on STs...

Aren't there only 7 on the practice squad, I haven't looked lately...

it does seem like we are a revolving door for mcarthy
he did look good in the preseason
Beginning to think McCarthy should change his name to Chad Mustard
Cut the Mustard!
What would Blackie Lawless do? Well he'd probably wait till after the playoffs are over before speculating as to what happens in the offseason....

Love My Buffs
I don’t know what it was against the Bills especially but it seemed like nobody was even close to down the field on punts. Hopefully Iwuh can get in there and make a big play.
IMO it was because Willis was returning punts and not covering them...at least not from his normal gunner position
But Iwuh did well on the ST in Chicago and we all know they do have pretty decent ST in Chicago

I'm not real sure what the FO ever saw in McCarthy

He led Notre Dame in tackles while he played there. That's probably what it was.

Thought McCarthy had a great training camp and
an exceptional preseason, but maybe I missed something that you saw.
Once I saw him recently it seemed to be the old, “Third teamer looked good against other third teamers.” As a special teams player in the regular season he seemed to be mediocre, not bad, but not exceptional.

it's probably why Eron Riley

Hmmmmmm....
What if we brought him in to play SS. Height: 6-0 Weight: 239 for Brian Iwuh and Height: 6-0 Weight: 220 for Laron Landry. 20 pound difference but 4.35 Secs for Landry and 4.59 Secs for Iwuh. If he drops weight and works on speed we could be looking at a scary SS.
We already have a smallish even faster LB in Woodyard

Drops weight and works on speed
Maybe we can get him to sprout wings too. No one will expect a flying safety
Oh and to add to that
Woodyard is listed at 6-0, 229 lbs. Resigning him should be a priority this offseason

FYI - to whom it may concern
Iwuh will wear #59 and Ryan Harris has #72 since Orlando Franklin wears #74.
