The Denver Broncos top draft pick Von Miller is among the nominees for Pepsi's 2011 NFL Rookie Of The Year.

Fans can vote for one of five players on www.nfl.com/rookies through 9 p.m. Eastern Time today, to determine the 2011 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year.

The winner will be presented the 2011 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year award in Indianapolis, the site of Super Bowl XLVI, at "NFL Honors", a two-hour primetime awards special to air nationally on Feb. 4, 9-11 p.m. ET on NBC.

Selected 2nd overall by Denver last April, Miller, a 6-3, 237 lb. Linebacker out of Texas A&M had a season that filled the expectations of his draft status. Von started all 15 games he was in, with 64 Total Tackles. Miller led the team in Tackles For a Loss (19), Sacks (11.5) and Quarterback Hits (24). He tied Rulon Jones for the most Sacks by a Rookie in Broncos history. In Week 7 at Miami, he recorded his fifth consecutive game with a Sack, marking the longest such streak by a Denver Rookie since LB Mike Croel had a Sack in six straight games during the 1991 season. Von was named Rookie of the Month in November.

2011 Season Highlights:

At Green Bay (Week 4): Recorded the ninth multi-sack game by a rookie in Broncos history with two takedowns, the first since DE Tim Crowder had two in 2007... Had two tackle for losses and three QB hits.

Against the N.Y. Jets (Week 11): Led the Broncos with a career-high 10 Tackles (9 solo), including 1.5 Sacks and three Tackles For a Loss, in addition to four Quarterback Hits, one Forced Fumble and one Pass Defensed (preventing a possible Touchdown reception) in Denver’s 17-13 win over the Jets.

Became just the 2nd player this season (LB Michael Boley, NYG) to record 10+ tackles, a Sack, a Forced Fumble and a Pass Defensed in a single game.

In San Diego (Week 12), Von matched his career high with 10 Tackles, including one Sack and two Tackles For a Loss, in addition to a Pass Defensed.

In the Wildcard game vs. Pittsburgh, Von had a Sack on a first down during Pittsburgh’s final Offensive drive in the 4th quarter which helped keep the Steelers from scoring and send the game into Overtime. He added 3 Tackles and two Tackles For Loss, as well as a Quarterback Hit.

The five finalists were selected for their outstanding performances throughout the 2011 NFL season. Each week, five nominees were chosen for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL fans voted for the winner on NFL.com. Those results were used to help determine the finalists.

But I think Dalton sould win. Cincy was a mess and he really brought that show together.

I voted Miller but I tink Cam Newton will win it. I mean the guy broke a few rookie records this year. Impressive and so much better than anyone ever thought he would be.

agree. And he made a few comments about his own ability and the team that didn't sit well with me. It showed his immaturity for sure. Hopefully he doesn't get complacent

with the success he’s had. He could really be special if he develops the maturity and work ethic of the great ones.

How is Newton all about himself?

He’s been active in the Carolina community from day one, every touchdown he scored via either rushing or pass he gives the ball to a fan (including his record setting balls)

Of course he did say the “get on my level” but in the direct quote it was referencing how he saw the attitude of some of his teammates not caring about winning so long as they got paid.

He wasn't just talking about their attitude he was talking about their play as well.

Its fine that he’s confident but you don’t alienate your teammates by saying you (as a rookie) are better than them and that they need to up their play and play better. That is not leadership.

Cam should have taken a page out of Tebow’s book and said something to the effect that “they make me look better than I am”, even if it isn’t true.

Cam is more talented than Tebow but he has somethings to learn about what to say in front of the camera.

I don't think he ever said he was better than anyone

In the Carolina house the coach Ron Rivera has openly stated that Newton has been the opposite trying too hard to defer to the older heads instead of seizing this team as his own because he (Newton) knows that rookies are still low men on the totem pole. After every game win, Newton never says “I did…” its always “we did good” but after each loss you notice that he will say “I made mistakes” I think that says more about his potential to be a leader than a 5 minute interview. That’s going to be interpreted by those who love him as great, and those that don’t like him but may still respect him to think he’s being arrogant.

Tebow is a really raw player, been a fan since the Sr. Bowl….anyway his problems I think are in two things; his footwork when throwing and he’s too deliberate when looking for a receiver, its almost like he’s waiting for the perfect throw.

Tebow will never be a deliberate machine like Brady, Brees, or Peyton, and sometimes watching him I get that’s what he’s trying to be. I see a future gunslinger in the mold of Farve (without the untimely int’s of course) with the ability to run in Tebow, a guy who should be working off his football instinct, that’s why his 4th quarters are so good, he stops thinking and reacts.

Basically, I want to see Tebow play stupid

(stupid in this sense is not “stupid” as in dumb, but play off your natural instincts)

I like Cam Newton, this is just a matter of perception. I perceive that as a rookie his words were more harmful than good and if he isn’t careful they will get him in trouble. You perceive that there was nothing wrong with them.

Both my father and I thought and still think Tebow can be a very good QB, what’s why its going to be interesting how he progresses under the tutelage of the great horse himself.

Newton as well is going to be very fun to watch progress, especially considering next year will be the first time he’s played on the same team and offensive system for more than a year.

I have always felt these two are the true prototypes for the hybrid QB (I don’t like the term running QB that suggests a skittish run first approach imo) and its something thats going to start happening more and more in football

Newton will win. I thought Smith had the best season. Probably would put Dalton second, and Miller third. Newton impressed but wasn’t consistent enough.

Newton gets it.
You dont break shatter that many records and not get it. Carolina got a good one.

Miller and Dalton are a tie for me. Both were the "extra pieces" needed to make their respective units (def/off) contenders.

Peterson is great and all, and he had some AWESOME returns, but I dont think he had as much impact as the names above.

Aldon Smith is a situational pass-rusher, who doesnt start, who didnt have to deal with a full season of play/wear&tear. Congrats on the sacks, but he no where near the contributor that other nominees are.

Homer as I am, Von simply doesn't cut it as rookie of the year

Newton’s accomplishments speak for him. Dalton’s, too. Before the injury, Von was runaway DROY. Broken thumb slowed him down. In the end Aldon Smith’s stellar performance in playoffs compared to Von’s injury-induced fade made Smith DROY. Rookie of the year? Sorry, he is not that. ProBowl and AllPro are nice accomplishments, though.
