A lot of people and MSM wanks (who can barely be considered people) are up in arms about Josh McDaniels going to the Patriots in time to face his old team, the Broncos. But will it matter?
I thought it would be interesting to see some basic stats on how Brady and McDaniels have fared since separating before the 2009 season.
McDaniels Record as a coordinator or head coach without Tom Brady as his quarterback:
Record: 23-36
Playoff Appearances: 0/3
Tom Brady's Record as a Starting Quarterback without Josh McDaniels:
Record 37-11
Playoff Appearances: 3/3
Jaded stats? Totally.
There should be a rule against coaches from eliminated teams joining playoff teams in the middle of the postseason. It's reflects poorly on the league. That being said, McDaniels is more likely to mess things up for the Patriots than help out. I've always felt that the offensive coordinator of the Patriots was overrated. Charlie Weis, Eric Mangini and Josh McDaniels all failed to find any kind of success on any level when separated from #12. Let's face it, Brady is the Patriots de facto offensive coordinator.
