Multiple Take Aways -- How Great Is That?

October 15, 2012 (a brief reprise by way of introduction): How can anyone concentrate on anything other than last night’s incredible 35-24, come from behind victory over the San Deigo Chargers? One of the things that made this game remarkable were the six turnovers forced by the Denver defense -- four interceptions and two fumble recoveries -- two of which were returned for touchdowns. This represents the 33rd time that the Broncos have had six or more take aways in a game -- and the first time since 2006.

On a related note, on October 16, 1977, the Broncos traveled to Oakland and defeated the Raiders 30-7. What makes this game remarkable is that the Broncos intercepted Oakland quarterback Ken Stabler 7 times (3 by LB Joe Rizzo, and 1 each by LB Randy Gradishar, DE Paul Smith, S Billy Thompson, CB Louis Wright) and Denver scored a touchdown on a 25-yard pass from holder Norris Weese to kicker Jim Turner on a fake field goal attempt.
