A toast to the Kaptain

Hi everybody...

I'm in Denver for a few weeks... I posted the other day on horse tracks to see if anyone wanted to get together and hang out during the bye week, similar to what has happened on Denver Stiffs...

Well, today i got the privilege of sitting down with the (in)famous Kaptain Kirk.

I was taken aback immediately by the fact that he was willing to meet a complete stranger and be so open, so courteous, and so gregarious. He is everything you want in a true friend - a guy who has had a lot of struggles in life but has kept plugging onward, doing something he loves to do, bringing a lot of joy to all the MHR readers, especially those of us out of state.

Kap, not to make you blush, buddy, but you have no idea how big a deal MHR is to a lot of us. Your continued efforts to stay on top of the broncos news keeps me going, and it was both a privilege and an honor to buy you lunch and get to know you. I look forward to lunch next week as well, and a continued friendship.

I really hope that the rest of the readers try to reach out in the future and have similar gatherings. It's great to put a face to a name, and gain a friend along the way. I admire your tenacity, as well as your words. And thank you for the "stuff" you gave me - it was certainly not necessary but will serve to piss off additional raider fans in the bay area when I return...

See ya next week!
