It's starting to come together and we've seen what happens when we have the adults in charge. It starts with Elway, FO & Coaching Staff from the draft to FA...I listed the FA signings and we know what the results are.
I'd like to spend just a few words on Jack Del Rio...He's pulling out the entire Playbook and the Players are responding. I knew it would take awhile for this Unit to come together, but I've followed JDR from his playing days to his positions as DC and HC. He knows players and he knows Defense & it's becoming increasingly apparent that he knows how to Coach-Up and Coach his Coaches. He knows what he wants and he knows what his players are capable of and works to bring out the best they can be.
This is incredibly exciting for Bronco Fans as we haven't seen this type of Defense for some time and the game today is illustrative that we have the right man running the Defense. We lost Warren in the 1st Game and Big Vick Stepped up...We lost Doom today and Ayers was Coached-Up, Ready to Play and didn't disappoint. Bannon has continued to be the lunch pail guy with solid play. Wolfe is doing some hard work inside and Unrein has proved to be a reliable rotational player...We also developing Siliga and Garland.
Our secondary, which was a weakness now looks really strong with the young guns: Carter & Harris making great plays...Rahim is playing with more confidence and making some key plays. Brookings has not been a detriment and Trevathan is seeing some playing time on passing downs...He's been burned a couple of times, but I think he has some real potential and broken up some passes...He's very quick and I think he'll be Coached-Up well.
Does anyone have any idea how high Von Miller's Ceiling is? I don't. He has the quickest 1st step I've seen outside of LT. He has great game speed and can chase plays down when they run away from him and he can't be blocked on plays to his side unless he's held, which happens quite a bit.
To Sum Up: We are getting better on Defense & will continue to improve under the current DC. I have no worries that Del Rio wants to leave for a HC Job. He likes where he is now & likes 'just coaching'...He's well suited as a DC and I hope Elway offers him a big, fat contract to keep him.
