From NFL.com:
Strengths
Ta'amu is a powerful and forceful player against the run who can get off the ball on the snap and into a lineman's face quickly. He is good to hold two blockers to create lanes for his linebackers. He is big-bodied and is a savvy player in terms of understanding his role within the defense. He can engulf running backs by using his long, strong arms or by pushing the interior of an offensive line into the backfield entirely.
Weaknesses
Ta'amu is a slow-mover who is not involved in terms of rushing the passer or having any productivity to plays away from him. He does not have much of a repertoire in his bag of pass-rush moves and doesn't use his feet or hands to get off blocks. He is a non-explosive player who will rarely run down a quarterback or running back in the backfield, and he has little value playing in a 4-3 defense.
I was one of those guys who mocked Ta'amu to the Broncos heading into last years draft. Now that the Steelers have cut him loose due to some bad behavior, should we take a shot and give him a second chance? We could use a run stuffing defensive tackle and there wouldn't be much risk.
What do you guys thinks?
