Denver Broncos Week 10 Rookie Report

Andy Lyons

The rookies around the NFL continue to play well. Who shined?

RONNIE HILLMAN had 5 carries for 5 yards and 2 receptions for 8 yards. The numbers are small but he might get more work soon since McGahee has the fumble bug right now.

OMAR BOLDEN played 25 special teams snaps and 8 defensive snaps. He had 2 tackles and one pass deflection on defense.

DANNY TREVETHAN had 2 tackles and a pass deflection as well in the win. He had 15 defensive snaps and 22 special team plays.

DEREK WOLFE was quiet with only one tackle but played more than any other defensive lineman. Had 54 defensive plays and 3 special team reps. Fellow rookie lineman MALIK JACKSON had 19 defensive snaps and 1 special teams snaps with one tackle. DUKE IHENACHO did not play at all.

ANDREW LUCK went 18 of 26 for 227 yards and one pick but two rushing touchdowns. He has six wins as a rookie, the Colts in a wild card spot and leading by a huge margin in rookie passing yards. My rookie of the year.

DOUG MARTIN continues to be a machine. He had 19 carries for 68 yards and three catches for 51 yards. The "muscle hamster(new nickname pending)" is terrifying and has some Bronco fans asking "what-if" when they had an opportunity to draft him.

RUSSELL WILSON did well against the stumbling Jets going 12 of 19 for 188 yards and a couple TD passes. Seattle is insanely good at home. I wonder how this team would do with home field throughout the playoffs hypothetically of course.

LUKE KUECHLY did well against our very own Broncos. He had 10 tackles and defended a pass. He leads all rookies with 87 and is third in the NFL. Incredible.

BRUCE IRVIN got a lot of criticism when the Seahawks drafted him in the middle of the first round because he more seen as a second or third round prospect. However, Irvin is looking like the speed rush linebacker that he was drafted for gaining 7 sacks and 10 tackles on the year so far including one forced fumble.

LAVONTE DAVID is being mentioned for the first time in my rookie report. Last week he had 14 tackles with one of them being for a loss. He has 81 in total on the campaign.
