The National Football League announced today that Denver Broncos Linebacker Von Miller has been named the AFC Defensive Player Of the Week.

Miller registered six Tackles, three Sacks and two Forced Fumbles in the Broncos’ 30-23 win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Miller’s three Sacks were an AFC-best in Week 11. He is the only AFC player this season to record at least three Sacks and two Forced Fumbles in a game. Von helped the Broncos win their 5th consecutive game and improve to 7-3 atop the AFC West.

He now has 24.5 career sacks, the 2nd-most Sacks through a player’s first 25 games since 1982. Only Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas (25) has more Sacks through a player’s first 25 games.

Through Week 11, Miller ranks 2nd in the NFL and 1st in the AFC with 13 sacks.
In his second season from Texas A&M, this is Miller’s 2nd career Defensive Player of the Week Award.

He previously won the award in 2011, also in Week 11. Miller joins Tracy Porter (Week 1) and Wesley Woodyard (Week 8) as the third Bronco to win Defensive Player of the Week this season.

Denver has had three other players win Player of the Week honors this season -- QB Peyton Manning on Offense (Week 6), K Matt Prater (Week 4) and KR-WR Trindon Holliday (Week 9) for Special Teams.

Miller has played 663 of a possible 691 snaps this season and should be in consideration for Defensive Player of the Year. He has 45 Total Tackles, 13 Sacks, 23 Tackles For a Loss, 17 Quarterback Hits, 37 Hurries, 4 Forced Fumbles and 1 Pass Breakup.
