Jeff Curry-US PRESSWIRE
We're learning of an absolutely awful story. Apparently, a Chiefs player (rumored to be Jovan Belcher) shot and killed his girlfriend and then shot himself after talking to coaches near Arrowhead Stadium.
A black Bentley was towed away from the scene a short time afterward.
As Broncos fans, we can all sympathize with this situation. After Kenny McKinley's death, it should be easy for us to stand beside our rivals and support them in this absolutely terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Belcher's friends and family, as well as the friends and family of his girlfriend.
The Chiefs have released a statement on the issue.
We can confirm there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.
The Chiefs play the Carolina Panthers at Arrowhead Stadium tomorrow, barring some sort of team decision in the wake of this shooting.
