Let me introduce myself. I am Sean and I live in Pennsylvania :) Kaptain Kirk helped me get a pic posted in yesterdays Tracks and I saw a couple of comments about how I didn't fit the mental picture. It is fair to say that my grooming has changed a bit over the last several years with long and short hair and currently a six month old beard.
I actually like this picture better than the other, a little in your face but this is me. I was blessed with a small "gift" from my mother after her passing earlier this year. It has really helped us out and I was able to do some fun things with it. One of the things I decided to do was to finally attend a Broncos game again. The last one I attended was in the old Mile High stadium. Living so close to Baltimore made it a no brainer to pick yesterdays game. So, last September I got online and bought tickets. There were plenty to choose from and I had a pretty fat fund so the more I looked at the seats the closer I got to the field, the prices were all over the board and I ended up fairly close to the field with what I thought was reasonable prices for a big event. Then of course I started thinking if this really was going to be a one time deal it should be worth remembering. I had already invited my Step-son and he had gladly accepted so I looked at the BEST seats I could get. For far too much money I got two seats in section 152/ row 2/ seats 17 and 18.
Jonas, says this was the best xmas gift of the year
Thanks for going with me! We did have a great time. Back to my story.
As the season went along it was looking like this game was getting more and more important. It got to the point a few weeks ago that this game worried me most, then the Ravens started slipping and the Broncos kept rolling, even though they had some offensive woes. So I headed out for the game yesterday morning still nervous but not really worried.
As the week started the weather forcast was to be cold and wet which I wasn't real happy about, fortunatly as the days went by the forcast improved almost daily till the game forcast was mid 50's with a small chance of a passing shower. The day was very comfortable for the most part with some cold air flowing through the stadium late. We got to the stadium by catching a ride with one of Jonas' co-workers. He a Ravens fan, his girlfriend a Broncos fan from Colorado. What a coincidence, right? They were real nice and made for an easy trip as he knew right where to go and guided us right up to where I took the above picture. Thank you.
We walked through security and got our tickets scanned. As we placed our items back in our pockets we checked our seat location, looked up and right in front of us was our section. This day just keeps getting better. We walk through into the seating and both of us feel a bit dizzy from it all. Both of us grinning we walked down to our seats. This is the view.
Unreal, absolutely stoked for this day. Pre game warmups ensued with a helping of cheerleaders
The kick is good!! Wish I had taken my camera. I was using a new nokia 920 windows phone, the zoom is weak and very hard to not get blurry pics. Both teams warmed up together for a while with each team booming kicks in opposite directions with runners making returns. A bit confusing but fun to watch footballs flying back and forth. Manning warms up near the opposite 30 which is also where coach Fox and John Elway are, too far away :(
After warm ups and the teams go back into the locker room then the band come out and plays, Cheerleaders jump up and down, the National Guard is standing in the endzone (at attention for about 20 minutes), and the crowd is rowdy and loud. The most negative part of the day came as the moment of silence for the shooting victims one lady was yelling the whole time. I don't understand some people. The Broncos came out to loud boos and catcalls, There were a lot of Broncos fans around us but also a lot more Ravens fans and they were very vocal early on. Then the Ravens were introduced and the stadium went crazy
I enjoyed the eyes lighting up with all the smoke. So we finally get to the game....
The crowd was VERY loud early and often. They make a big deal out of third down like Mile High does incomplete with lot's of participation. I was impressed. For some reason DJ spent most of the first quarter riding a bike.
Stokely had a pulled muscle or cramp during the game and the trainers worked on him. Decker was trying to loosen up his back or hip for a while
Moments with greatness: Early on Miller got to Flacco, just before Baltimore's first FG. As Von Miller walked back up to the bench I yelled out to him "Good play Von, Good Play", he looked over and I fist pumped, he nodded to me. Wow!
Late in the game #53 Steven Johnson came over to gives some items to a friend/family member, when he was done and starting to leave I stuck my hand out and he shook it. Thank you for shaking my hand, it was a great part of the day!!
The crowd had started booing in the second quarter and after the pick six was getting ugly. Worst part of the day, I was in the bathroom during the pick six. I was hoping for a pre-half short line with the Ravens driving. Dammit!! Mid way through the third quarter the crowd was obviously leaving in droves. Jonas and I moved up to the front row and Broncos fans started appearing all around us in the good seats.
I had a great day with Jonas and felt like I got close to my favorite sports team.
High fives going on all around
I still want to see the game. It was great to be there, to see the players and hear the sounds. It is really much easier to follow the flow on TV. Hope you all enjoy the read and pics. Many more up on my facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.505849349447220.120856.100000664780947&type=3 I am going to close with my favorite picture. Holliday looks like a kid behind all the big boys.
