Let me begin by saying I hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
Let me follow that up by saying I desperately hope we ground your team into dirt.
Chiefs are bad this year, so bad in fact that they put up 353 rushing yards and still threw the game away with horrible turnovers and penalties. That said, beware of the fact that we put up 353 mother trucking rushing yards in a single game, and the defense held Andrew Luck to 13 points. Given some rest they aren't that bad.
Broncos are good this year and I'd rather not elaborate because it makes me sad... What I do know is that the Broncos have the #2 ranked run defense in the league, but after running effectively on you last game and just putting up 353 mother trucking rushing yards I think that will be a strength nonetheless on our side.
A story to watch is Peyton Hillis, who is looking for a new contract after being hampered by a vicious high ankle sprain all year. He seemed healthy last week, going for over 100 yards as Charles went for 226. While Charles has the big numbers, 199 of his yard came before contact. A testament to both Charles' speed and devastating offensive line play. Hillis on the other hand got approximately 75 of his 107 rushing yards after contact with stiff arms, truck sticks and generally dragging sad little defenders over. Probably the best I've seen him run since he clobbered Baltimore in 2010.
Another big one to watch is fullback ( yes, we use a fullback. Need I remind you our quarterback is Brady Quinn) Patrick "Pancakes" DiMarco, who was brought up to the active roster against Carolina, started, and since then has been nothing but awesome and easily the best fullback in the league in that stretch. He has the speed to get to the edge and lay a chip for Charles, and the power and tenacity to blow up a linebacker in the hole for Hillis. Saying something bad about him on AP is unheard of, look out for him.
So well probably lose. But goddamnit it, I hope not.
beware of the 2013 Chiefs, AFC West champions.
