The Kansas City Chiefs, not the Cardinals, are looking like the final destination for Ex-Eagles head coach Andy Reid.
Chris Mortensen, commenting on Mike and Mike in the Morning, said
"The Chiefs were trying to close a deal with Andy Reid. At this point I’m going to be surprised if Andy Reid is not the Chiefs’ coach."
If the Chiefs land Reid, my thought is that Scott Pioli is finished. Andy is likely to get the Mike Holmgren-like total control in order to seal the deal. It would also go a long way to making the AFC West relevant once more. The Pioli/Haley/Crennel operation hasn’t yielded
Cleveland.com is reporting that Tom Heckert would go with Reid to KC as well. Heck was with Reid in Philly before leaving to become GM in Cleveland under Holmgren.
UPDATE: The Chiefs and Andy Reid are on the verge of an agreement to make him the next head coach.
Sensing that they won’t land Reid, the Cardinals have asked permission to interview Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley for their head coaching spot.
Other coaching murmurs:
Browns interview Ken Whisenhunt
Whisenhunt interviewed Wednesday with the Browns about their head coaching vacancy
Buffalo may be interested in Jim Haslett
The Bills are trying to get in on the Chip Kelly derby, but they’re clearly putting together a Plan B. The Bills also have an interview lined up with Lovie Smith.
Citing multiple sources, ESPN reports the Chicago Bears will interview New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. for their vacant coaching position
Per Bill Williamson, oregon coach Chip Kelly has interviews lined up with just about everyone except AFC West teams.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen believes former head coach and current ESPN analyst Jon Gruden could return to the sideline if the right situation arises. Gruden is still under contract, but Mort says we should keep an eye out and that the Return of Chucky could easily happen.
In other coaching news today:
Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli isn't out of the woods yet and he is still with the team, but it is apparent that may not be the case for much longer. There have been murmurs about former Bills, Colts and Panthers GM Bill Polian being the next GM for the Chiefs, but a PFT source denies it will be Polian.
Mike Holmgren would like everyone to know that he is available and will entertain offers.
Dallas Cowboys DC Rob Ryan's job status is up in the air.
Ed Werder reports that former Bears head man Lovie Smith is in demand. Apparently, the Arizona Cardinals and the Buffalo Bills are two of the interested parties. Add Andy Reid and Mike McCoy as two more interviews for the Cardinals, who appear to be on a mission to get their's first.
Oregon head coach Chip Kelly is the hottest name from the college ranks expected to make the jump to the NFL. Odds are in favor of that happening. Philly and the Browns have him at the top of their Wish List.
Buddy Nix will remain the Buffalo Bills GM, per Albert Breer. Adam Schefter reports that the Bills named Russ Brandon president/CEO with full authority. Nix will stay as they transition to Doug Whaley at some point.
