John Fox Quickly Becomes Longest Tenured Coach In AFC West

John Fox enjoys the success he's having in the AFC West - Dustin Bradford

Now that Norv Turner has been fired by the San Diego Chargers, John Fox is the AFC West's longest tenured coach.

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox collected his 100th win yesterday. On Black Monday, the Broncos head coach became the longest tenured coach in the AFC West. The San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs will be looking for new head coaches to start the 2013 season, and with Dennis Allen just finishing his first season, Fox's two season's in Denver are now the mark of stability in the division.

"Both Norv and A.J. are consummate NFL professionals, and they understand that in this league, the bottom line is winning," team president Dean Spanos said in a statement. "My only goal is the Super Bowl, and that is why I have decided to move in a new direction with both our head coach and general manager positions. I am committed to our great fans, and we will do whatever we possibly can to achieve that goal."

As for the Chiefs, Crennel got the boot after just one season as the head coach. He was the interim coach in 2011 after Todd Haley was fired. It will be the third head coaching hire for GM Scott Pioli who somehow survived, though his long-term status is far from secure.

"I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction," Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement. "I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review and there may be additional changes to come."

With Peyton Manning and John Fox around, and upheaval surrounding the Broncos in the rest of the AFC West, Denver should be the class of the division for seasons to come.
