Had to laugh at myself.
As I scroll down your post looking for the 25th pick I find myself looking to find PETER KONZ! Yes! Whoops! San Fran just grabs another elite building block to a perennial SB team:O)

Not sure about all the guys
but I love the wheeling and dealing if we could get that many picks in the early rounds. I know we are all excited but we are still a LONG way off of being a team that can compete with the big boys and it is going to take draft picks that pan out to make that jump.
Hey
Don’t tell me what I can read.
And your mock sucks!!

I like our mock
but I’m not sure about the rest of the teams. For example:
-I’m not sure Seattle will go for Richardson when they have Lynch
-The Patriots have Patrick Chung, who is pretty good, why go for Barron?
- The Lions just drafted Mikel Leshore (spelling?), a running back, in the second round last draft. I don’t think they will go RB in first this year.
Other than that, everything seems pretty plausible to me.
I can see Dig's point on these
Seattle – there is a HUGE possibility the Chicken’s of the Sea will lose Lynch to free agency. If I know Marshawn right, he’ll want ridiculously paid. In the event they lose him… Forsett isn’t enough. Another back will be needed.
Patriots – I know Chung is more of a SS type, and I thought Barron was as well, but Barron would be an upgrade at FS for the Pats too. Their DB core was pitiful last year (minus Arrington and some turnovers generated). When Julian Edelman is playing CB for you, you need help. But I agree with you on this one… not super feasible.
Lions – Every freaking year, either one, or all of their RB’s get hurt. They cannot feel safe with any back on that roster. Javid Best is a fireplug when healthy, but he’s NEVER healthy. Mikel Leshoure does have the makings of a beast, but the FO there can’t feel safe even with him…. coming off an injury like he sustained. He didn’t even play one meaningful down for the Lions this year.

You’re right on Seattle. I question how long Lynch will be there. In the comments of my old mock some Sea fans said they could go for Richardson.
On the Pats I went off a Wes Bunting thing saying team needs. He said SS. That what I get listening to him. I agree Chung is a SS and so is Barron.
Lions didn’t even consider Leshoure. I was only thing Best is going to retire and Kevin Smith was cut once already.

Tim Tebow
This hernia thing with Barron will turn some teams off and wonder about his injury concerns. Barron may end up in the 2nd rd...
I believe the Seahags would be stupid not to keep Lynch and Skittle-ke-Do attitude. He looks some much more happier now, that the accident that nearly destroyed his career is behind him.

I don't know much about Robert Turbin.
I definately want a “2nd round talent” at RB this year. I like the McNutt pick, I think he will be a solid player in the NFL.

If we go RB in the 2nd
I want Martin out of Boise St., or Lamar Miller from the U… should he fall to us there. I might even be inclined to pick either one of those boys with pick 25.

Love our picks.
Only thing I’m not sure about in your mock is the Rams’ pick. If they were going to trade down just to get a LT, why not stay where they were and pick up the best LT prospect in years in Kalil. I know they get more picks, but this guy could be their next Orlando Pace. I think if they trade down they want to take Blackmon.
I took your advice. gave them Blackmon.

Not this one! Forget Alshon Jeffrey! He’s not a 1st round pick. Greg Childs/Jarious Wright are better picks in 3-4 rnd. We’ll pick RBI in 2nd, and DT/ILBDEin 1st. I’d like Mike Martin/Steinkuhler in 3rd if we went ILB IN 1st.

Great read, Digger.
Really interesting mock. I disagree about some things and have questions about others:
1) Washington won’t be the team that trades up to snag Griffin. I’m not sure who it is. I’m thinking Miami or Seattle.
2) I love that you have Coples going that high. That’s the highest I’ve seen him go – so kudos for deviating from the norm. I haven’t done my mock yet, but I’m going to work on it today. I predict that there’s going to be a Top 10 run on tweeners and DTs.
3) I’ve said it elsewhere, but will here again: No receiver will go in the Top 10. There’s some great, but not elite, talent at the position this year. But no one in this class is on par with A.J. Green or Julio Jones.
4) Luke Kuechly going to Miami at #11 is interesting. I haven’t seen that before; what’s your rationale there? I’m not as high on Kuechly as most altstream media mockers are. My view: He’s far from a sure bet. His stats were goosed by a Kuechly-friendly spotter. Lots of his tackles were too late. And he’s not athletic enough to thrive in the NFL.
5) Cracks are starting to emerge in Dre Kirkpatrick’s game. So there’s the pot thing – no charges filed because his friend took the rap for him (we’ll probably never know what really happened there). And then some scouts are questioning his ability to play man-to-man coverage. I don’t know if these worries are legit or not. What we know is he played a lot of zone on 1st and 2nd downs. We also know that he was surrounded by a ton of talent, which probably protected him a bit. Bottom line: I think he’s going to fall. Also, I wonder if people wouldn’t look at him as a safety.
Regarding your Broncos’ draft…in short, really like it.
1) I’m not sure where Vinny Curry would fit. Can he play against the run? I think we need a three-down defender at the DE opposite Doom. Curry might be it. I just don’t know.
2) I hope we draft Mike Martin.
3) I’m interested in George Iloka. I don’t know a bunch about him. I wonder if we can get an Iloka analog lower.
4) I agree we need to address the corner somehow – whether it’s in the draft or via free agency. If we go in the draft, I’d be fine with Johnson.
5) Really like Robert Turbin – but I don’t think he’ll be available past the third.
6) I don’t think Marvin McNutt will separate in the NFL. I’m all for adding a wideout, but not McNutt. We need someone faster. What happened to Eddie Royal? So much promise…
7) I don’t know anything about Compton or Witt. I saw Witt play once and he seemed competent against Ivy League competition. I’m not sure what that means for his NFL prospects.

I changed it up a bit on MTD. Hogblog would really hate that one now. I ended up giving us Jeffrey haha.
1) I will stick with Shanny and Fisher working a deal.
2) I moved him down now. Sorry.
3) I moved him down to S.L. now. Still have him top 10 though.
4) Also moved down.
5) Hmmm! verdy interesting.
"I am not better than anyone else just because I play football."

i've also read a lot of different views on Kuechly
some have him rated as the number three ILB, and project him a third rounder at best. then again, like in the mock, he is a mid first rounder. it will be interesting to see exactly where he lands. I remember last year i was high on ILB casey matthews, he struggled a bit with the eagles this year though.
Even if Kuechly is on the board at #25
I don’t think he is what we want.Turns out other teams don’t want him either. If Phil doesn’t take him, he may fall to the NYG.
"I am not better than anyone else just because I play football."

I could be wrong...
…but it seems like linebackers whose scouting reports say something to the effect of “makes up for pedestrian athleticism with great instincts and intangibles” never really pan out in the NFL.
I don’t know…maybe I’m wrong.
I also believe there’s a BC bias that could be inflating his value. Given ESPN’s proximity to Boston and the fact that Mike Mayock is a BC graduate, I think BC players are generally overvalued pre-draft.

…I’m not saying there aren’t good players coming out of BC; I just think that many of them are overvalued. Kuechly could be the poster boy for that.

I don't see Baltimore going after a TE in roud one when they recently drafted two who are just starting to come on. I could see them grabbing Jeffery there though.
I also don’t see a 4-3 team like Cincy taking Poe. That, like everything else, is just my opinion. I really like the trades down but I think if Mercilus is there at 25 we will probably draft him.
I love the Vinny Curry pick and I even love the Mike Martin pick but I would rather have Kendall Reyes if he’s there. I would pass on Iloka and take Martin with that pick.
I love Trumaine Johnson and hope he falls that far. I also love Robert Turbin but I don’t think he’ll fall that far either.
I don’t think McNutt is a good pick to take there. If we take a WR in this draft I want him to be fast. Tebow and McCoy love the deep ball and we’ll need a WR who can separate. Not sure who will be left that late but hopefully someone. I wouldn’t be bummed with McNutt I would just rather have a faster guy.
Last two picks are luxury depth picks. Don’t know much about them so I can’t comment either way.
I wish there was a way we could get LB Bobby Wagner in there somehow too.

With the aging Ray Lewis I could see the Ravens taking the risk of Burfict at 29.
The veterans on the team will temper his emotional outbursts, where ASU had nobody to do that…

I would say Curry stock went up just because of the Giants winning the Super Bowl.
It’s a copy-cat league and with more teams passing, guys like Curry are going to be rated higher because of his pass rush skills. He might be the best pass rusher outside of Coples in the entire draft. I would be very dissappointed if EFX had a chance to draft him in the second and didn’t.

I don't agree with alot of these pics
- pretty sure Cleveland will trade up. Washington will either get Flynn or Manning.
- Coples probably ends up with Miami
- WAYYYY to high on Kuechly, Miami doesnt have a need at the mike position. They have Karlos Dansby
- Hate to say it, but i see KC getting Richardson
- Cinci won’t go Poe, They have 2 solid DT’s
- Highly doubt lions go miller in the first, they’re a pass first team, have Leshoure coming back, and even without best, they will be fine. They need secondary and OL help
Now to Denver, that’s way to far back to trade for my liking. I’d love to get in the first top 10 picks in the 2nd. I like the picks, don’t believe Curry will be there like you said. I’d love to trade back a little and grab Miller or Martin.

I just like trading down this year...
Im not an expert, but the tone of most commentary seems to be that this draft has nice value mid-draft. We are rebuilding still and no yet quite ready to swing for then fences. You guys make your picks and its fun to hear the comments as you play GM. BUT… Elway wants 3 years to put his personal stamp on the team from draft development…so compared to other drafts, wouldnt the FO want more talent pool this year since we are so low in line if many others grade out comparably-ish?? I like trading down x2 and then BPA this year…beef up the team and D…and send Goody and maybe Mays packin…Go for O next year …except for one mid round RB…get everything else from FA if the bucks make sense…my 2 cents.
By no means do I feel like my ideas will be of any consequence whatsoever.

Patrick Witt....
really? I know he has been talked up as an NFL prospect because of his size and alleged arm strength, but I saw him several times this year and he had big trouble with his accuracy—and this is against lesser competition. I suppose there is a small chance that things might still pan out for him eventually, but the last thing the Broncos need is yet another project at QB.
Did you clicl on the info button below his name?
If you did you could follow the link to find out he was 60.4% on his passes.
Camp fodder and maybe PS.
"I am not better than anyone else just because I play football."
Tim Tebow
I know that his completion % looks decent....
but I think his stats are padded by a Yale offense that uses a lot of screens and short passes. I don’t think accuracy is a strength for him. I saw several of his games and he never looked that great. I suppose I may have caught only a few of his worst games, but I expect an FCS QB to really be dominant to make it as an NFL QB and he simply wasn’t.
OK Denver Bears
I appreciate that heads up. He is off my list.

Love this time of year..digger, very nice with the trade down
Trade down from #25 scenarios; What happens if Ryan Tannehill is available at #25?
Washington – If they miss out on Peyton Manning, Matt Flynn, Robert Griffin, they’ll have to either trade down from No. 6 or move up from no. 38 to acquire Ryan Tannehill.
Jacksonville – at no. 7 do they take BPA or focus on Gabbert shortcomings. Same question at no. 38.
Miami – at no. 8 do they have Manning, Flynn or a plan for no. 42
Philadelphia – It’s very possible that the Eagles will spend a Day 2 selection on a quarterback. Their current starter will be 32 soon, while Mike Kafka is just backup material.
New York – the front office may spend a Day 2 selection on a quarterback to provide some competition for Sanchez.
Denver then can select the following;
Name Pos College Round Time
*Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina Jr 6-1 193 2 4.52
*Brock Osweiler QB Arizona State Jr 6-7 240 2-3 4.83
*Bernard Pierce RB Temple Jr 6-0 218 3 4.59
*Marcus Forston DT Miami (Fla.) rJr 6-3 300 2-3 4.95

Me too DL.
It’s slow at work right now so I have a lot of time on my hands.
I like your insight on the situation of a trade down. Every team is willing to do it if they think they can get about the same value pick later in the draft. We will take into account how the draft is going and assess it then. I was reading a story off Horse Tracks that was talking about NE trading one of their two 1st ( they had an extra from Seymore I think) last year to NO for a 2nd and a extra 1st this year. That’s what happens when you have extra picks. We could have parlayed ours from Cutler and Marshall too, but instead we spent them foolishly. Anyway, my thoughts went to, what if they didn’t trade that pick and took Mark Ingram themselves instead of Vereen and Riddley later on? Would they be better off? I think so, yes. So sometimes a trade down is not the smart thing to do. I don’t know if I want the Broncos to or not. Depends who’s still there.
